- It's that sad moment when you realize that you have no such talent, even if all it would be good for is pleasing a crowd
- I have... what? A high pain tolerance? Sure, I know Tae Kwon Do, and that could be used for show. Assuming I don't fuck over my legs more than they already are.
- Blackjack - Yesterday at 6:22 PM
- Your problem isn't that you don't have these talents, it's that you spend so much time on Youtube watching other people have talents and not developing your own
- Lily Camellias Loveheart - Yesterday at 6:22 PM
- What talents do I have, then?
- Blackjack - Yesterday at 6:23 PM
- You kick ass in your studies (don't tell me you didn't work hard in the summer), you have a good voice for files, you can still code, and you can still write. You may not be confident in any of these yet, that's why you practice
- Lily Camellias Loveheart - Yesterday at 6:24 PM
- I can write, sure. Not that the odds of that going anywhere are likely. Very, very few people are successful in their writing.
- I may have a good voice for files, but the audience is so small, and there are far better candidates than me, plus I hate the voice I use for files.
- Blackjack - Yesterday at 6:25 PM
- Writing is also a transferrable skill. If you don't find success writing, use your persuasive and analytical skills towards something like speaking or critiqueing
- You're thinking so linearly, and it pains me to see it
- Lily Camellias Loveheart - Yesterday at 6:25 PM
- Being good at memorizing information for a short period of time isn't that useful, either.
- I try critiquing and people get pissed off.
- Blackjack - Yesterday at 6:26 PM
- (there's a reason outside of your talents that people get pissed off, but that's not the point I'm trying to make here)
- In the case of memorization, try memorizing over longer periods of time. Or use your current skill to memorize useful information. Or simply use it to coast through tests and shit so you can focus on the important things.
- Lily Camellias Loveheart - Yesterday at 6:27 PM
- Tests have never been an issue for me.
- But temporary memorization won't help in a workplace environment for long.
- Blackjack - Yesterday at 6:28 PM
- You're missing the poiiiiiiiiiiint
- If you think what I'm suggesting is BS, think of your own applications that you know will work
- Don't tell me memorizing never got anyone anywhere
- Lily Camellias Loveheart - Yesterday at 6:29 PM
- It was useful for some musicians, but they were able to retain the knowledge for longer than a few weeks.
- Blackjack - Yesterday at 6:30 PM
- Okay, so currently you can use your memory to cheese assignments and shit for school. If you're creative, you can find applications beyond that. But even if you're not, you can practice and develop your memory to get music, poetry, books, and other things committed for later use
- What I'm trying to say is:
- Don't think backwards, think forwards
- Lily Camellias Loveheart - Yesterday at 6:35 PM
- Given I've tried memorizing poems, and got 5 lines memorized in 3 months...
- As for music, which is far easier to memorize, my singing voice is shit, and I shake far too much to play an instrument.
- Blackjack - Yesterday at 6:37 PM
- You are missing the poiiiiiiiint
- All of these things are in your control. I used to have a shitty singing voice, but I have a pretty spiffy one now. Guess how I did it?
- Fucking meowing
- I always tried to vary my pitch to make the optimal meow
- And ended up increasing my vocal range
- Lily Camellias Loveheart - Yesterday at 6:38 PM
- I sing every day, until my voice runs raw, Mistress. I try to mimic the pitch of songs I've been listening to, and singing, for years.
- Unless I sit in a room with good acoustics, my singing voice is, generally, really shitty
- Blackjack - Yesterday at 6:40 PM
- Okay, y'know what, fair point there. Still neck-deep in meaningless minutia though. If you can't sing, okay. Develop another talent. You're not crippled or mentally impaired, and you're in a pretty good position in life
- I know I'm arguing with depression, but it's an insult to my intelligence for you to say you aren't and will never be good at anything
- Lily Camellias Loveheart - Yesterday at 6:41 PM
- Pretty sure being temporally challenged counts as mentally impaired, to some degree.
- Could be wrong.
- Blackjack - Yesterday at 6:41 PM
- Your literal temporal lobe?
- Also
- YOU"RE MISSING THE POINT
- Lily Camellias Loveheart - Yesterday at 6:42 PM
- No, I meant temporal, as in time
- Not the lobe
- Blackjack - Yesterday at 6:42 PM
- And I'm autistic
- People said I'd never succeed
- Lily Camellias Loveheart - Yesterday at 6:42 PM
- People still say I'll never succeed. At the rate things are going, they seem to be right.
- Blackjack - Yesterday at 6:43 PM
- Because you believe them
- Ugh, fuck this. You. Never. Listen.
- Lily Camellias Loveheart - Yesterday at 6:43 PM
- Not to mention, autism isn't always a major impairment. I know plenty of autistic people far smarter, and better in every way, than people with no mental ailments.
- Sorry...
- Blackjack - Yesterday at 6:44 PM
- You don't acknowledge that there's anything you could do, you just refute meaningless minutia and fail to get the bigger picture
- And yes it is a mental impairment
- I have struggled, and still struggle at communication
- Lily Camellias Loveheart - Yesterday at 6:44 PM
- I said major, not mental
- I know it's an impairment, in someway or another
- Blackjack - Yesterday at 6:45 PM
- I don't know if you're intentionally trying to grind my gears or not, but it's definitely working
- Lily Camellias Loveheart - Yesterday at 6:45 PM
- I'll just shut up...
- Blackjack - Yesterday at 6:45 PM
- You haven't even acknowledged yet that there is a bigger picture
- I'll just shut up...
- facedesks(edited)
- Even I can't help you. All you had to do was listen and maybe acknowledge a single word I said about the bigger picture. Instead you were intent on refuting my examples to help you understand said bigger picture
- Tell me when you've improved a little bit in mood @Lily Camellias Loveheart
- I'm going to have you listen to a file, one that will put you into the right mindset for success
- Lily Camellias Loveheart - Yesterday at 6:55 PM
- I don't want to
- I'm tired of trying to use hypnosis to fix everything
- All it has done is bring pain, in the end
- Blackjack - Yesterday at 6:58 PM
- It's barely even hypnosis. It's more of an advice file, full of things you could develop on your own
- The only reason I'm having you do the file in the first place, and not something like reading the transcript, is that you're not accepting any advice I'm trying to give
- Aaaand you're playing Overwatch too, ignoring me
- Lily Camellias Loveheart - Yesterday at 7:00 PM
- You said to tell you when I'm in a better mood.
- I'm trying to put myself in a better mood.
- Blackjack - Yesterday at 7:01 PM
- Okay, fine. Next time, tell me that instead of complaining more. I had no way of knowing.
- Lily Camellias Loveheart - Yesterday at 7:05 PM
- I sent those before I decided to do what I'm doing.
- Blackjack - Yesterday at 7:06 PM
- Okayyyyy, and that changes it how?
- Look, the whole point of you getting in a better mood was for you to do the file. If you don't want to do the file or even accept the motherfucking help that you yourself asked for, then take off your collar and never talk to me again. I've had it with giving you fucking attention and help and love and care and you fucking rejecting it like it means nothing.
- Lily Camellias Loveheart - Yesterday at 7:13 PM
- I'm sorry...
- Blackjack - Yesterday at 7:14 PM
- Those two words mean literally nothing
