  1. Tie, check. Suit in order, check. Hair, work in progress.
  2.
  3. He combs his fingers through the untameable strands, glaring half-hearted at his reflection as the errant tresses fall out of the hair tie. Pulling his hair loose, he continues to fidget to take his mind of the butterflies in his gut. Twisting hair between fingers, counting his breaths as his vines coil over the floor behind him, he slowly talks himself down from nerves. He is getting married, to a woman he has dreamed of for months, a gorgeous creature with a lot of spirit and talent for what she loves. He was going to spend his life with her, another seer through dreams and would understand his temporary need to withdraw after a unsettling vision, someone he can talk candidly with about his work as a Medium.
  4.
  5. He was getting married and all he can do is glare at his hair and banish the jitters in his system like a fool.
  6.
  7. Pulling it all back into the hair tie, he lets out a huff before looking himself over. He is fine, he got this, He is going to go out there and wait for her at the altar and be enchanted by her all over again.
  8.
  9. "You can do this, Old Boy. One foot before the other"
  10.
  11. "Now how did I know you'd be talking to yourself, Jackie"
  12.
  13. He pauses for only a moment in his fretting, his face contorting from a man trying to calm himself to one of annoyance. After a pregnant pause, he finally lets out a shallow sigh and looks at the reflection of the bird at the door.
  14.
  15. "Fuck off Zack"
  16.
  17. The bird lets out a snort before closing the door behind him, crossing the room to drape a arm over his friend's shoulder. Giving the intruding man a half-hearted glare, he starts to pick at the cuffs of his sleeves.
  18.
  19. "Dude you need to chill. You look like you are ready to meet your maker at a chop-block. You are just getting married, man."
  20.
  21. "Easy for you to say. I just don't want to ruin this for her. I want this to go off perfectly and for her to get the wedding she deserves. I'll never forgive myself for anything less"
  22.
  23. "Now see, that's what I'm getting at here. You are getting too stressed over nothing here. She's hot, you love her, she loves you. Bam, marry her and make her happy. Don't see white doves singing coomb-bye-yah at the kiss you know?"
  24.
  25. "Singing doves....oh that would have been brilliant why didn't I--"
  26.
  27. "Dude. That is called a joke. I know you are still new to them so I can forgive, my man"
  28.
  29. Jack lets out a low growl, punching the man to his left on the arm. However this only encouraged the bird on more, ruffling the Groom's hair with a grin. "Look. You have nothing to really fear, you know? She asked you, remember? She wants to do this and you want this too. After all the shit you go through both awake and asleep, I think you need to have someone good to hold onto in this reality. She seems like a good one...so stop stressing and admit you truly deserve to have her in your life here."
  30.
  31. "...thanks. I really needed to hear that I think."
  32.
  33. "Good. Now will you let me go"
  34.
  35. The bird points down to the floor where the network of vines have ensnared the both of them in a series of knots ranging from your everyday bow-knot to the Celtic. Clearing his throat as his face started to flush blue, he wills his vines to release the both of them and recede into his flower. Pulling on his shirt collar, he offers a weak laugh to his friend before returning his gaze to the mirror to fidget with his hair again. After toying with it long enough to give up, he looks back to the feathered man and shrugs.
  36.
  37. "You look fine. Now come on and hang out with the rest of his shmoose in the waiting room. Lee wanted to impart some wisdom of being a married man."
  38.
  39. Letting out a soft laugh, he nods as they head for the door. "I'm sure he has a lot of stories about his life with my Sister"
  40. "Dude you have no clue"
