  1. @xsnlx
  2. U.S. power is threatened by the decline of the middle class and the potential creation of two Americas without a common interest.
  3. +ColonelSlade
  4. I always liked his vision of revenge
  5. bradmaj
  6. GRAND Admiral Thrawn
  7. +ColonelSlade
  8. xsnlx: America is fracturing.
  9. You're right @ grand
  10. xsnlx: The American Right largely no longer believes in the American project.
  11. And key Republican leadership is colluding with Russia.
  12. bradmaj
  13. Timothy Zahn just published a book about him, so apparently Thrawn and the Chiss are canon in the new EU
  14. because nothing in the OLD EU is necissarily canon now
  15. +ColonelSlade
  16. Interesting
  17. I liked how he talked about mammals and their warm blood
  18. +ambient-rainstorm
  19. ColonelSlade: to be fair i'm far left-leaning and i also do not believe in the American project. but what that means to both the left and right is very different.
  20. +ColonelSlade
  21. ambient-rainstorm: In what way do you not believe in the American project?
  22. He said that mammals are too hot headed and can't really strategize
  23. And I think he would study the art of a species to understand how they think
  24. And then use that to defeat them
  25. Very impressive
  26. +ambient-rainstorm
  27. ColonelSlade: okay, just to be clear, we're talking about the U.S. constitution and the ideals of the founding fathers?
  28. ColonelSlade: or maybe you mean something else
  29. +ColonelSlade
  30. Yes
  31. +ambient-rainstorm
  32. yeah, i don't wholly agree on that
  33. +ColonelSlade
  34. In what way
  35. +ambient-rainstorm
  36. the founding fathers believed that democracy needed limits and didn't trust the masses at all
  37. they were also pretty religious
  38. +ColonelSlade
  39. They were religious and secular
  40. Yes, they did not trust the masses
  41. Nor do I
  42. +ambient-rainstorm
  43. they also stood for capitalism and a justice system i disagree with
  44. bradmaj
  45. So let's recap.. The "Law-and-order" party applaudes when Trump pardons a convicted criminal. The "Morality party" has no problem supporting a serial sexual predator and a serial cheater.
  46. +ambient-rainstorm
  47. so, it's not something i "stand for"
  48. +ColonelSlade
  49. What do you disagree with about American jurisprudene
  50. bradmaj: The central claims of the American Right are lies
  51. +ambient-rainstorm
  52. ColonelSlade: juries and our idea of incarceration
  53. +ColonelSlade
  54. bradmaj: With the cognitive revolution in the social sciences we now understand political ideology is largely derivative to cognitive orientation
  55. Knowing a person's parenting style, for example, predicts their political ideology
  56. So, let us set aside the political claims of the American Right and understand their cognition
  57. @xsnlx
  58. Statistics reveal that, since 1947 (when the data was first compiled), corporate profits as a percentage of gross domestic product are now at their highest level, while wages as a percentage of GDP are now at their lowest level.
  59. bradmaj
  60. Pardon Arapio.. but if you have one joint on you., TO THE STOCKADE!!
  61. "one of these thigns is not likee the other.."
  62. +ColonelSlade
  63. They are generally authoritarians, orderly, with low empathy and high fear of the outsider
  64. This perfect predicts their support of Trump's corruption
  65. Donald Trump is Alpha Male, which is sacred among authoritarians
  66. So, whatever he does is Necessarily Right, even when it is against their spoken values
  67. +ambient-rainstorm
  68. ColonelSlade: but, of course there's stuff i do agree with, like a bunch of things in the bill of rights.. but i can't say all of it
  69. @xsnlx
  70. corporate profits as a percentage of GDP are now at their highest level, while wages as a percentage of GDP are now at their lowest level.
  71. +ColonelSlade
  72. ambient-rainstorm: What is your objection to juries
  73. bradmaj
  74. and now apparently Trump's getting pissed at kelly for telling him cool it on several occasions
  75. @xsnlx
  76. pretty stark
  77. bradmaj
  78. xsnlx, not only that, trump is touting lowering corporate taxes AGAIN, becaus it'creates jobs"
  79. +ambient-rainstorm
  80. ColonelSlade: it's making a serious call on somebody's life based on a group's opinion.
  81. bradmaj
  82. when has that ever worked?
  83. +ambient-rainstorm
  84. ColonelSlade: and countless times the wrong call was made.
  85. +ColonelSlade
  86. The American Right is largely working against the authority of law enforcement, the FBI, the DOJ, and the Intelligence Community
  87. They are not for order
  88. @xsnlx
  89. not ever, not even once
  90. bradmaj
  91. the corp's say thank you, and keep it all
  92. +ColonelSlade
  93. They hate our nation
  94. ambient-rainstorm: Juries seem improvable. What would you replace them with?
  95. +ambient-rainstorm
  96. ColonelSlade: that being said, i consider myself fairly pragmatic and i am not entirely against everything either.
  97. @xsnlx
  98. corporate profits are already at ALL-TIME HIGHS both dollar-wise and as a % of GDP
  99. corporations are swimming in money
  100. +ColonelSlade
  101. xsnlx: Our nation is now largely controlled by corporate interests.
  102. +ambient-rainstorm
  103. ColonelSlade: perhaps forensic committees
  104. bradmaj
  105. My favorite Trump quote so far is his one about there being "nice guys" amongst the neo-Nazis
  106. +ColonelSlade
  107. That is partially why support of Congress is ~9%.
  108. bradmaj: Donald Trump is a known racist.
  109. He has been racist for decades.
  110. The DOJ brought multiple suits against him for racially discriminatory housing practices.
  111. I think Donald Trump will go down as the worst president of all time.
  112. bradmaj
  113. ColonelSlade, yes, but that's cognitive dissonance. because while support OVGERALL is 9%, RE-ELECTION is ALSO at an all-time high. Because everyone thinks; "Thewy're all worthless, except my guy."
  114. +ColonelSlade
  115. The previous worst is generally considered Buchanan.
  116. bradmaj: The voters are largely propagandized and domesticated.
  117. We don't have any sort of real autonomy in our electoral process.
  118. Well, for about 1/3 of American voters
  119. Let us think of Grand Admiral Thawn
  120. bradmaj
  121. ColonelSlade, right, At the same time they're giving Congress the lowest appoval rating ever, they're also re-electing them at record levels
  122. +ColonelSlade
  123. Every culture has weaknesses
  124. Often, the weaknesses of a culture are where the least question asking is allowed
  125. What are the sacred truths of the American Right?
  126. Strength and Independence
  127. That is where you deceive them, then
  128. You domesticate them and then tell them that nobody could ever domesticate them for they are such a Strong and Independent people
  129. When data scientists come along to tell them how they're domesticated by some monied interests, tell them those are the Elite Tricksters who would make you Weak and Subordinate
  130. This is what has happened
  131. The American Right is now largely controlled by perhaps 10,000 wealthy people who control media and AI firms
  132. ← THERetroGamerNY has quit (Quit: Be blessed!)
  133. +ColonelSlade
  134. It is outside the bounds of American political discourse to discuss domestication of voters
  135. Because we're a Humanist system and free will is a core value
  136. bradmaj
  137. ColonelSlade, or may favorite, convincing them that the Eastern super-rich elitest guy is "jusat plain folks" and the one born and raised in Arkansas, who went to public schools, is the "eastern Establishment" candidate
  138. and they BELEIVED it
  139. +ColonelSlade
  140. So, there will be no massive introspection into this domestication or any attempt at a fix
  141. bradmaj: The American Right appears hopeless
  142. bradmaj
  143. Sara_Ks, wouldn't it have been, maybe, just MAYBE.. a tad smart to ask to SEE this great health plan before electing him?
  144. +ColonelSlade
  145. The current solution proposed by leaders within the system is basically to go around them
  146. Just keep letting them be propagandized and keep letting them vote, but we'll have more people to out vote them
  147. bradmaj
  148. Why did they beleive he had a "Secret healthcare plan" that he'd reveal later on?
  149. +ColonelSlade
  150. I think this is irresponsible in the modern, nuclear age
  151. bradmaj: Sara_Ks is unable to discuss this topic
  152. She is terrible at debate
  153. I once informed her that a majority of Republicans think universities are dangerous to the country
  154. And her response was to type "lol. not all Republicans hate university"
  155. She can't even differentiate between the qualifiers "most" and "all"
  156. And she didn't ask me for a citation
  157. She just went off her intuition
  158. This means she is not part of modernity
  159. bradmaj
  160. I mean, come on, if someone says they have this great wonderful healtcare plan, that won't raise premiums, won't kick anyone off their plan, and won't cut MEdicare, wouldn't it have been smart to ask to se it?
  161. +ColonelSlade
  162. She's stuck in team-based thinking. Since my scientifically accurate claim hurt a group she has kinship with, she defended that group
  163. bradmaj
  164. Why didn't any Trump supporters demand to see it before agreeing to vote for him?
  165. +ColonelSlade
  166. The biggest victims of the American Right are the voters of the American Right
  167. Their stupidity is so great it's not just their own lives they're sacrificing, though
  168. You literally had people voting for a person who promised to get ride of Obamacare
  169. Some of these people HAD THEIR SPOUSES ON LIFESUPPORT DEPENDING ON OBAMACARE
  170. bradmaj
  171. Sara_Ks, why would anyone assume he'd be telling the truth about the healtcare plan, when he did nothing but lie throughout the whole campaign?
  172. +ColonelSlade
  173. And when the were informed their spouses would now die, they acted as if they never realized it
  174. We cannot continue to allow these people to vote
  175. bradmaj
  176. Starting with his "proof" that Obama was born in Kenya?m
