Physical Characteristics: Lean and strong despite her short size. Round, youthful face, framed by short, messy hair. Long, steer-like horns and bovine ears. Broad hips lead to strong, muscular legs with cloven hooves. Tufted tail emerges from above caboose. All of her clothes were bought from town, not hand-made - curled cowboy hat, light vest top, fingerless gloves, denim shorts. No shoes, since her hooves are tough.
Temperament: Sassy, confident and headstrong. Always looking for the next adventure and not easily scared or preturbed by anything. Often reckless, and leaps into a fight without considering the consequences. Can be sarcastic on occasion - her childhood on the plateau has made her somewhat rough-mannered.
Ability/Strengths: Natural Holstein strength - can heft large loads without complaint. Quick on her feet and surprisingly athletic. Good close-range brawler, but prefers to fight at range with her six-shooter. Very accurate and skilled marksman. Horns are attuned to the world's thaumic fields, acting like a compass for her to navigate. Can go for many days without food or drink.
Weaknesses: Reckless behaviour can easily get her into a dangerous scrape. Small size and youth means she lacks true Holstein strength. Tends to panic when cornered, and has a "everything is a nail" approach to problems. Limited revolver ammo.
Social Class: Something of a wanderer, with little to her name except what's in her pack.
Occupation: Wandering adventurer and self-appointed marshal of Redstone.
Religion: Taurian. This religion preaches the importance of family, perseverance and hospitality, and worships the star Alderbaran as the birthplace of Taurus, their central creator deity.
Political Preferences: Doesn't care a lick for politics.
Parents: Her father is York Longhorn, descended from the pioneering Longhorns who charted the Redstone Plateau. Her mother, Mississippi Longhorn nee Friesian, died from birth complication.
Siblings: No siblings, but many cousins and half-siblings due to the nature of herd life.
School: Educated by the elders of her herd.
Failures: During a terrible drought, her father once sent her to fetch water from a nearby watering hole, trusting her to take the direct route. But the mountain path was rocky and, not trusting what her horns told her, Dakota took a longer route and got lost. By the time she returned, some of the herd had died of thirst - among them her aunt. Dakota blames herself for not trusting her gut to show her the right way.
Quirks: Can drink most people under the table. Hardy and able to withstand extremes of heat and cold, as she grew up in such conditions. Considers her hat "lucky" and gets distressed if she can't find it. Very good at line dancing, square dancing etc. Tends to moo in her sleep. Fiddles with her tail when considering a problem. Despises scorpions.
Favorite Food: Anything with intense flavours. The diet of the nomadic Holstein is plain and wholesome, but unexciting. Therefore, any exotic dish perks her interest.
Favorite Color: Green, since green means grass and, usually, food.
Trauma: As a child, she was stung by a scorpion she mistook for a harmless shellbug. She fell very ill and spent many days in her father's wagon whilst the herd doctor tended to her. This was the start of her growing dislike for the passive Holstein lifestyle, as well as scorpions.
