  1. ZiV Simfile League Week 3 Feedback
  2. *I generally looked at the one or two hardest charts (ignoring edits) to base my decisions.
  3.
  4. VanEden vs SomethingRandom
  5.
  6. next to you (VanEden)
  7. - Really clean chart. Steps feel deliberate and attention to detail and care to go with the song is evident
  8. - Stepjumps were reminiscent of nightbird lost wing and Right On Time; nice stuff
  9. - Chart felt a bit stagnant in both difficulty and patterning variety as it reached its end
  10. - ESP felt a little barren in comparison; patterning felt a little too 'safe' or 'simplistic' at times. Similar impressions to CSP otherwise
  11.
  12. INVOKE (SomethingRandom)
  13. - What's with the quantizations in the beginning?
  14. - Feels like a small improvement on your earlier entries. Patterning variety is good, but...
  15. - There are still lots of elements that make the chart feel unpolished. Repeated use of consecutive notes on the same arrow during freeze arrows when the melodies are changing in the song; the weird difficulty spike of the two big 16th streams that briefly break from karaoke stepping, etc
  16.
  17. My vote goes to next to you; it feels like the more polished and complete file.
  18.
  19. Talkion vs DigitalBasic
  20.
  21. Waiting For You (DigitalBasic)
  22. - Nice chill chart. I like the mixed use of spins and twists/crossovers in the song.
  23. - Song does feel like it drags a bit towards the end. I wonder if a shorter cut would've helped
  24. - I think 24ths would've made more sense both musically and chart wise in lieu of 32nd bursts
  25.
  26. FoRCeDNaTuRe vs Pandemonium X
  27.
  28. GIGANT (FoRCeDNaTuRe)
  29. - Would call CSP a 15 due to overall stamina + 24ths + jumps
  30. - Good flow, albeit veering on too crossover-heavy? Everything works nicely though
  31. - Chart feels a little stagnant after a while; I'd build it up a little more or vary the patterning
  32. - Minor flow break on ESP entering m17
  33. - ESP feels way too relentless and fast for an 11; 13 would be more apt
  34.
  35. HEISEI (Pandemonium X)
  36. - Overall nice file; can't point out any major flaws
  37. - Nice difficulty progression and patterning in second half
  38. - I like the use of freezes to accent the music
  39. - Does feel a little bare at times
  40.
  41. My vote goes to HEISEI. GIGANT had some exciting patterning, but HEISEI overall had the slightly better composition.
  42.
  43. Nezemarth (My Chica) vs Braeden47 (Beautiful Stranger)
  44.
  45. My Chica (Power Mix) (Nezemarth)
  46. - Good work overall; 16ths were the highlight of the show
  47. - Crossover gallops felt creative
  48. - m8-9 rhythm feels off
  49. - Second half of chorus might have benefitted from following 8th rhythms more, instead of 4th
  50.
  51. Beautiful Stranger (Braeden47)
  52. - Awkward place to start the file
  53. - Overall lack of consistency in patterning. E.g. some freeze patterns have a set of two jacks on the end of it, and are held down until the second arrow, but others are only held down until the first arrow with no logical reason for the difference
  54. - Chart feels like it doesn't progress until the very end
  55. - Flows well
  56. - Abrupt cut
  57.
  58. My vote goes to My Chica, which I found to be the more cohesive file.
  59.
  60. HealingDMax300 vs mikeintyo
  61.
  62. Jade Runs (HealingDMax300)
  63. - I enjoyed this chart a lot. I think you've been stepping your game up quite a bit recently
  64. - Nice creative crossover patterns all around
  65. - Streams felt a little forced
  66.
  67. djVERTICAl vs Oni-91
  68.
  69. Paralyzer (djVERTICAl)
  70. - Overall very nicely done file. Enjoyed the variety in rhythms and the solid patterning
  71. - m38-39 4ths could've been 16ths imo
  72. - m58 footswitch/spin isn't immediately clear
  73.
  74. TonyAkita vs brunobg24
  75.
  76. HIMAWARI (Happy-Euro Mix) (TonyAkita)
  77. - Nice cohesiveness and consistency to patterning, which I appreciated
  78. - A little repetitive
  79. - Would've liked to see you use the background 16ths a little more; the 16ths that are in feel a little jarring because they're far and few between
  80.
  81. Follow Me (brunobg24)
  82. - Cute chart for a cute song
  83. - I really like how much character this chart has despite its clean profile
  84. - Excellent usage of 16ths going to the song
  85. - Not much to say about CSP; it used jumps pretty well and that's about it. Nice song to make an air special to
  86.
  87. My vote goes to Follow Me; it was the more standout chart to me.
  88.
  89. vonafroa (SPACE VILLAGE) vs hooky (There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back)
  90.
  91. SPACE VILLAGE (vonafroa)
  92. - You've been improving a lot recently!
  93. - Solid patterning; even though it's mostly 8ths it never gets too stale
  94. - 12ths feel like they could be toned down a bit in patterning; that sneaky crossover..
  95. - Imo should be pushed up to 13 due to overall density and difficulty with 16th bursts and the 12ths
  96. - Why did you include the Konami jingle in the cut?
  97. - Nice song choice
  98.
  99. There's Nothng Holdin' Me Back (hooky)
  100. - m13-20 really really nice
  101. - Good use of spins/doublesteps
  102. - Nice difficulty progression! I like the gallops and the jumps during the drops/chorus?
  103.
  104. My vote goes to There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back. This was a really difficult decision, but this file felt like it had slightly more polish and care than SPACE VILLAGE.
  105.
  106. ohaiimian vs K-Step
  107.
  108. Perfect Love (ohaiimian)
  109. - Well-done chart. Attention to detail evident across the entire song, from the jacks to the consistency with freezes
  110. - Nice and unique climax with spins; I think they'd be fun to execute in practice
  111. - Great patterning variety
  112.
  113. Everytime (Above & Beyond's Club Mix) (K-Step)
  114. - Pretty good chart. Rhythms were nice and in line with how I step aside from the end, which I felt was too weak and too quiet to warrant how you used 16ths
  115. - Due to time constraints I was only able to see CSP
  116.
  117. My vote goes to Perfect Love. Its cohesiveness and smart patterning puts it a tier above Everytime.
  118.
  119. Mr.Music vs Gameoson
  120.
  121. First Dance (Mr.Music)
  122. - Seeing doubled BPM is very refreshing; it's the first contest file I've seen in a little while that incorporates it
  123. - Well done speed changes and stops
  124. - Good patterning, but sometimes lacking in 'symmetry' or correpsonding to the song
  125. - Feels like an authentic DDR chart, down to its quirks
  126.
  127. DIORAMATIC MOMENT (Gameoson)
  128. - I liked the use of doublesteps in the chorus
  129. - Feels like it lack a little of the usual polish your charts have. I'd imagine this may be due to the constraints with finals and everything everyone had in Week 3
  130. - Was only able to see CSP due to time constraints
  131. - I don't really understand the use of mines after freezes
  132.
  133. My vote goes to First Dance. Both charts were very good, but I have to give credit where credit is due. First Dance was the more refreshing effort.
