She turned and ran toward the operator control booth. Inside the carny was slumped over the controls. She couldn't speak. She just grabbed him and yanked him upright. The man fell back again as soon as she let him go. Her hands were slick with the carny's blood. Then she saw the red slash marks on the man's t-shirt. Many of the letters in the embossed words 'Fantana's Fun House' had been cut out, leaving the message ‘F-a-t-e’.

She was too stunned and horrified to scream. She couldn't breathe. Her heart had frozen. Then she turned around. A man in a white mask stood right behind her. He was about to plunge a knife into her chest.
