This disagreement pains me. I know that no relationship can be perfect and that we were bound to reach this point eventually, but that doesn’t lessen my grief. I have thought about what you have told me for quite some time now, and while I do understand your concerns, I am sorry to say that I still believe that you are wrong. I cannot idly stand by as you toss away years of sacrifice just because you have changed your mind. I will prove to you that I am right. I deeply wish that my doing so won’t hurt our future together, but if it does, then I will accept those consequences. I knew what the risks were when I agreed to this, and that will not change even now when everything else has.

Please do not think that my loyalty to you is waning. Even now, my life is still tied to yours, no matter where this road takes us. I hope that we can both do our own duties with the best intentions for everyone in mind. Because, my heart, this is bigger than us. This is for the world.
