  1. 1. Overview
  2. -----------
  3. Tales from the Age of Steel is a game using the FEMTO 3.0 system, in which the players adventure in a pre-modern world where civilization is heavily scattered and isolated. It will have a largely open ended format, with an episodic structure. The setting will be inspired by sword and sorcery fiction. Four will be the ideal number of players for this game, and players are encouraged to create a cohesive party that will be able to tackle a variety of difficult situations, and to switch out characters if they feel like trying something different. This game will also expand on the races and elements present in FEMTO 2.5.

  5. 2. Setting
  6. ----------
  7. This game will use the same setting as my previous two games, The Cleansing and The Return, drawing somewhat from the show's canon, though it takes place many centuries before either. The world is divided, akin to ancient Greece, being split into several lands and kingdoms. One such land is Equestria, currently ruled by Queen Kairon Irse; another is the desert realm of Abyssinia, under the Three Heads of the Dragon, while yet another are the far northern kingdoms in the Cold Waste, enslaved by the mysterious Shadow Lord, and so forth. Many of these lands are little more than city-states, consisting of a capital and small surrounding villages. As of yet, there has not been a great unification of the separate lands, and as such, many of these city-states keep to themselves, engaging in trade or occasionally warring between themselves. As a result of this isolation, much of the land is untamed or unexplored, littered with ruins of civilizations long gone, or simply consisting of inhospitable wilderness. It is in these times that the party will live, consisting of a group of four drifters - wanderers with no one place to call home, moving from one area to the next ceaselessly.

  9. 3. Character Details
  10. --------------------
  11. TFTAOS will focus primarily on adventure; there will be overarching storylines, but the main focus will be on smaller, self contained storylines, using an episodic sort of format. Much of the game will be spent outside of cities and towns, venturing through wilderness or dungeons. Of note is that magic, while existent, will not be as common as in most games, and treated as much more mystical. Technology will be based much more on the ancient past, and more modern technology such as engines and guns will not exist. Note that the game will expand on the races present in 3.0, adding Saurians and Felids, as well as adding two new elemental damage sources, Light and Dark damage.

  21. The setup for the game will be as follows:
  22.
  23. The party will play as a group of petty, no-name drifters, traveling from place to place in search of adventure. All four of you have had rumors reach them of a great treasure to be claimed: a great, flawless topaz known as the Heart of the Sun, being held in an abandoned temple to a nameless god. Once every seven years, on the summer solstice, the temple's doors are said to open of their own will, inviting treasure hunters to enter and try to claim the Heart within. Many have not heard of this occurrence, but whispers have reached you of this place, and the solstice draws near. Thus, all four of you, and likely others as well, converge on the temple, each hoping to claim the prize themselves. Unless you wish otherwise, it is safe to assume none of you have heard of each other, until now.
