  1. The rest of the night was a blur for Nathan. He vaguely remembered having a drink and then being lead to a bedroom by Scarlet and proceeding to pass out. His sleep was a dreamless void and Nathan wouldn't have minded being in that limbo forever, no pain, no fear, but he felt something caressing his cheek gently and it slowly pulled him out of his null state. His eyes opened, but then closed, the very little light they received hurt his head. But as he opened his eyes more he saw Scarlet sitting over him and gently touching the him.
  2. “Morning sleepy face.” The female purred. Nathan groaned and rubbed his eyes. “Is it still night? Why is it so dark?” He asked. Scarlet got up and opened the blinds, through the window a thick gray wall of fog visible. “No, it is very much morning. The town is almost always very foggy. I would explain the science behind it but I don’t know it.” She said snorting.
  3. Nathan tried sitting up but his head felt like it was going to split in half and he collapsed back into his bed. “Easy there sugar.” Scarlet said. “You had quite a couple drinks last night. You’re going to have a pretty nasty hangover hun.”
  4. Nathan groaned, incapacitated, looked around the dimly lit bedroom. It was quite empty except for a dresser and this bed. It had a door and a window, the blinds to the window closed. It would have looked like any ordinary room except that the bed was a racecar bed, as in the ones that 5 year olds would sleep.
  5. “Why am I on a race car bed?” Nathan asked.
  6. “What do you mean?”
  7. Nathan opened his mouth to respond but he remembered the events from yesterday, and he decided not to question it further.
  8. The female reached into her pocket and pulled out a box of cigarettes and a lighter, lighting one and popping it into her mouth, the smell of smoke quickly polluting the room and Nathan’s lungs. Nathan had an almost immediate reaction, coughing very hard, having a flash of 9 year old Nathan’s coughing fits. The female rolled her eyes. “Don’t be a baby.” Nathan tried to respond but couldn’t, doing his best to breath. Yet despite his best attempts the smoke kept filling up the room and Nathan kept coughing, his eyes watering as smoke got in them. Nathan was gasping for air now, only inhaling smoke, barely able to see in front of him as the entire room was filled with smoke. Nathan thought he was going to die. He couldn’t breath at all, his vision was growing dark…
  9. But the smoke started dissipating and Nathan was able to fill his lungs with, gasping like a newborn child. As his eyes stopped watering he looked around again and Scarlet was gone and as he looked out the window the fog was gone, the moon high in the air, it being night again. Confused Nathan got up, powering through his headache and tried getting up on his feet. But as he stood, a blood curdling scream pierced the air, causing Nathan’s head to implode, falling back into his bed.
  10. “PLEASE! PLEASE NO! PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! HELP! SOMEONE HELP! PLLEAAASE!!!”
  11. Nathan recognized the voice as Scarlet’s and through sheer resolve alone got up onto his feet, determined to try and help Scarlet, not matter how weak he was right now. Stumbling towards the door he fumbled it open, leaning against the doorway to stand.
  12. The door lead to a long dark hallway, and at the end was the most grotesque creature that could have crawled out of the depths of hell. It had the legs of a goat, the torso of a human, normal human arms but its hands had nails, or more appropriately claws, the size of a foot. Protruding from its back were 4 long tentacles. Its face had two milky white eyes, no nose just two nostril holes, and a mouth permanently in the shape of an O, a long tongue hanging out of the hole.
  13. The beast was holding Scarlet in its tentacles, cutting into the females flesh with its claws, Scarlet still shrieking in pain. For a while Nathan was petrified in the doorway, the monster paying no attention to him. But without a moment's notice its face snapped in the direction of Nathan. One of its tentacles wrapped around Scarlet’s head, her screams muffled, and with a sickening crunch, crushed Scarlet’s skull like a walnut. Scarlet’s limp headless body fell to the floor as the monster began trudging towards Nathan, tentacles being dragged along. Nathan finally regained control of his body and slammed the door shut, locking himself in the room and jumped into his bed, pulling the covers over his head and sobbing into the pillow.
  14. “Holy shit, holy shit, holy shit!” He sobbed into the pillow, the footsteps outside the hallway getting closer and closer. Nathan curled up into a small ball and whimpered to himself. Now there was a slamming against the door, the hinges giving a bit more with each sickening crunch of the wood.
  15. BOOM
  16. The door collapsed and in trudged the monstrosity. Nathan tried to be as quiet as possible but he felt some slimy wrap around his ankle and ripped him out of the covers and into the air upside down. Nathan’s tear stained face looked into monster, blood rushing into his already pounding head. Nathan didn’t even bother struggling, but he screamed and cried as the monster cut into him with its claws, inserting them into his stomach and pushing around his inner intestines. The horrific scene got worse as the beast pulled Nathan closer to its own face and forced its long nimble tongue into Nathan’s mouth and down his throat, Nathan’s screams stopping as he choked. The torture felt like it lasted an eternity, Nathan shutting his eyes so he wouldn’t have to look into that ghastly face. Eventually he felt his consciousness fading and Nathan embraced death with open arms.
  17. ~
  18. Nathan woke up in his bed, finding Scarlet stroking his face gently.
  19. “Morning sleepy face.” She said with a smile. Nathan jolted up, but was hit by pang of pain in his head and fell back into his bed.
  20. “Easy there sugar, you had quite a few drinks last night. You’re going to have a nasty hangover.” Scarlet told him. As Nathan looked closer Scarlet had a large, angry, purple bruise on her face. But otherwise everything was exactly the same as before. Nathan tried to process everything, and he tried to speak, but he felt overwhelmed. He didn’t know what to do, this was too much for him, was last night just a dream? It felt so real? How did Scarlet get a bruise? She didn’t have it yesterday. Instead of saying all the thoughts in his head Nathan just broke down crying. “Aw it’s okay sweetie, I’ve got you no worries.” Scarlet said and hugged Nathan, gently scratching his head, trying to console him. Once Nathan’s tears subsided she got up. “Let’s try to get some more light into this room. Not that we’ll get much more. It’s always fogging in this town and I don’t know why.” Scarlet went to the window and opened the blinds. Nathan’s head was still pounding so he rolled over and shut his eyes, trying to catch his breath. But his heart dropped when he heard the sound of a lighter. “Wait! Scarlet dont!-” But it was too late. Smoke quickly filled the room, suffocating Nathan, and just as he was going to pass out it subsided.
  21. Stunned Nathan didn’t move a muscle. He slowly turned his head to the window and the fog was gone, replaced by night, and as he turned his head to the doorway the screams started. Nathan curled into a fetal position and started rocking himself back and forth, back and forth, waiting for the screams to stop, and for the footsteps to his door begin...
