Shamiko has Breakfast

"Mum, do we have any eggs?"

"We have some in the fridge, but they were for tonight's dinner. What did you need them for?"

"I've been training with Mo- my friend from school to defeat the magical girl, but my muscles aren't getting any bigger." She flexed her arms to punctuate the point. "On tv they said that body builders drink raw eggs, so I want to try that!"

"Well, if it's for your battle..." Yuuko's mother thought for a moment. "I suppose we can use tofu instead of egg for the omurice! Go right ahead, Yuuko!"

Shamiko retrieved the carton of eggs from the fridge and set them down on the cardboard box they used for a table, along with a tall cup. There were three eggs left. One had a crack in it but it wasn't fully broken, so it should be fine, right?

Her tail tensed up as she cracked the first egg on the rim of her cup and poured the insides in. It oozed down the side of the cup and congealed on the bottom, a fat blob of pure, undeveloped chicken. Along with a few pieces of shell, Shamiko noticed with a grimace. Close enough.

The first shell set aside, she grabbed the second egg, the one with the broken shell. She cracked it, and an odd smell pervaded her nostrils. Wobbling in its shell, the second egg had a strange colour to it. Was it supposed to look and smell that way? Her mother's cooking sometimes smelt worse, so this should be fine. She poured the egg in and the pair of yolks spun around the bottom of the cup, bits of shell littering the mixture. There was a definite difference between their colours now they were right next to each other.

Final egg; this one felt heavier than the other two. A swift crack on the cup's rim and she poured it in. With a wet splat a chicken embryo landed in the cup, a soft pink lump surrounded by veins. Shamiko jumped back at the sight. She was pretty sure the tv never had bodybuilders eating this.

"Waaa... S-Should I really drink this?"

"Hmm..." Yuuko's mother looked over at the cup, then shrugged. "It seems like something a demon would drink, don't you think?"

"I guess..."

"And if it helps you get stronger, then you'll be able to break the seal faster!" Yuuko's mother beamed. "Go ahead, Yuuko~"

"If you put it that way..."

Shamiko's tail wrapped closely around her as she picked up the cup and stared into it. "H-here I go..." She inverted the cup, the thick mixture pouring into her mouth. Immediately her body reacted, her gag reflex trying to force the eggs out of her throat. She forced her jaw shut to prevent herself from throwing up, the chicken fetus popping in her teeth.

Her face turned blue as she tried to force herself to swallow. Slowly the runny parts were sliding down her esophagus, Shamiko exhaling sharply as she struggled not to cough. After a couple of quick gulps, most of the mixture was in her stomach. That just left the embryo.

She chewed a few times to break up the chicken. It tasted foul, and alternated between wet pops and hard crunches as she worked through it. Finally broken down enough, she managed to swallow it.

Slowly opening her eyes, Shamiko exhaled sharply.

"How was it?" Yuuko's mother asked.

"W-Well..." She ran her tongue around her mouth, cleaning out the sharp pieces of egg shell left over. "We've had worse before."

Momo stood in stunned silence, staring at Shamiko. The pair were walking to school together when the demon girl had told her about the morning's culinary adventure.

"You had WHAT for breakfast?"

"Three raw eggs, just like the bodybuilders on tv!" Shamiko flexed, eager to show off her new strength. "There was also a chicken in one, they're full of protein!"

"Did you at least clean your teeth afterwards?"

"W-Well, uh, we're out of tooth paste."

Momo looked at her.

"And my toothbrush is missing most of its bristles..."

The magical girl was quiet for a moment. "We're not kissing again until you brush your teeth. "
