  1. Squeezed between the Inner Sea and the Padomaic Ocean, the Telvanni Peninsula expands out of the rest of mainland Morrowind, like one of the two horns – the other being Redoran’s Velothi district – hugging Vvardenfell and the Inner Sea between them. It is a land of mountains and of narrow valleys, of long inlets and sharp cliffs. In the west, the peninsula is very much an extension of Vvardenfell, the wind blowing vast amounts of volcanic ash from the coast all the way into the deep valleys. Due to the mountain ranges that run the full length of the peninsula, very little of the ash makes it across to the eastern end of the peninsula, forming full-fledged ashlands all across the western half, with few oases hidden in the most isolated of valleys and crevices.
  2. Much of the western portion of the Telvanni Peninsula is uninhabited wasteland. Isolated communities of Malakh Orcs hide from the harsh storms inland, at times clashing with the native Ashlander tribes that also call this inhospitable land home. Closer to the coast, small communities of Dunmer exist in conditions much like those in the ashlands of Vvardenfell. The largest city on the western coast is Firewatch. Its location is far enough to the north for some of the ash to blow over towards the Sea of Ghosts and further to the east; a popular local saying refers to the city as the Inner Sea’s most popular resort due to the slightly more favourable conditions compared to places like the city of Helnim to the south, which lies in the more heavily affected areas.

  4. In contrast to the ashen wastes of the west, the eastern part of the peninsula remains relatively untouched, hidden away from the effects of the Red Mountain by the jagged peaks of the Boethian Mountains as well as protected by the constant eastern winds which blow away what little ash would otherwise manage to get across the mountains. Life is far more abundant here, both in flora and fauna, as well as in Mer settlement. The greatest city of House Telvanni, Port Telvannis, is located here, its majestic ancient mushroom towers rising high over the remote, windswept archipelago.
