Abandoned (orphanage): Original Version (2/26/12)

>Fluffy pony orphanage shuts down
>No one can afford to keep the remaining fluffy ponies
>Nobody really cares, either
>Just leave them in the darkened building, locked into their big pen
>Fluffy ponies don't understand
>Wait in the dark for tenders to come back
>No one around to clean up their filth
>Still have water from the pipe that runs through the pen
>Out of food
>Fluffy ponies hungry
>Mewl "Wan' food", "Wan' pway", "Where day go?"
>Shuffle around useless in the dark, growing weaker
>Finally, one of them bumps into a sack left in the corner
>An old apple rolls out
>Fluffy ponies crowd around the one who found the apple
>"Pony has food!" "Gif food pleese?" "Gif food!" "Hung'y"
>"No!" mumbles fluffy pony through the apple in her mouth "Is my food", starts to eat
>Remaining fluffy ponies consumed with frustration
>"Gif foooood!" "Meani pony!" "You why no food" "You make hoomans go away"
>Can't articulate their frustrations
>Can't figure out some course of action
>Fluffy ponies slowly die of hunger
>One at a time they stop moving
>Can't grasp mortality
>Stare at dead ponies trying to understand what happened to them
>Don't even think to try and eat them
>Last pony left alive is the one who ate the apple, lying on its side in the dark and groaning from hunger in a pool of its own watery feces, surrounded by the rotting corpses of its fellows
>Door opens
>Blinding light streams in
>Fluffy pony squints, gurgles out "You come back fow fwuffy?"
