Before the Sun Rises

>The night skies above the noble city of Canterlot glistened as Luna’s stars above it twinkled softly, forming only a part a grand tapestry made not only of stars and planets but also cloudy nebulae, burning comets and asteroids, as well as the signs of supernovas eons past.

>You watched it all unfold from an ancient telescope that you’ve kept in superb condition considering the construction of it being from almost a dozen centuries ago; before Nightmare moon had been banished and came back, before Sombra had gone mad with power and staked out to carve a frozen empire, and shortly after Discord had been sealed away in a marble tomb from the power of the Elements of Harmony

>After Equestria was safe from such rampant chaos, Luna had secretly gathered all the parts to make it night after night whilst you and a lot of other ponies had lain their sleepy heads to rest, and one evening, after the sun had set on another bountiful day, she called you to her room, and gave you it as a gift so that you could see what she crafted with her near divine touch on the stars above.

>It was rare that you had gotten to see such beautiful splendors from your sister’s work nowadays, due to the daunting responsibility of running a nation without it coming apart at the seams and of course, being well rested enough to be able to raise the sun onto your little ponies.

>Tonight though, peering through it was a well-needed respite from all the work and hassles that being a princess of a monarchy had to deal with on a day to month to year to decade basis, and instead you look towards your soft four-corner bed.

>It had been the better part of an absolutely wonderful five years, and the creature bundled up on your bed in a nest of down filled pillows and cottony blankets, body sprawled beside a crater left from your leaving him alone

>His name was Anonymous, and despite his origins of how he came to be in your wonderful land of Equestria, he was amongst the top percentile of all the creatures who valued your life not because of title, jewels, bits, or even political power plays.

>After the current bearers of the Elements of Harmony had found him roaming the Everfree forest; scared and troubled, but physically fine, they’d helped him acclimate to the strange world he had found himself in.

>When you had asked Twilight Sparkle and her friends to bring Anonymous to you for an audience, you were a little surprised by the fact that unlike almost every creature in Equestria, he treated you not as if you a god, but as an equal

>He told tales of the place he had came from; a small blue planet so mind bogglingly far away filled with wonders and horrors alike, with technologies so advanced that it could be considered magical, but curiously devoid of magic proper.

>It had piqued your interest and Luna’s as well, but so far, that strange planet had eluded the two of you in your search of his home world.

>As the months slowly rolled by Anon had been more and more of a regular of both the social circles of the city of Canterlot, and of your personal audience. It didn’t help that those hands of his were capable of “magic” of their own as he massaged, stroked, and kneaded every spot * just * right, you chuckled while lovingly looking over him

>Which brings you two to this moment right now…

>It’s a shame that the two of you had stayed up so late stargazing from the castle’s parapets, as normally, he’d be waking up with you to witness breaking a new dawn across the nation.

>Planting your hooves on the stone floor, you call forth the sun, your horn glowing almost incandescently enough to be a sun in its own right. As the morning’s light had crawled over the rolling hills and meandering rivers, it had brought a smile to your face as you levitated the ancient telescope while trotting back inside

>Resting it inside its case spread across your desk and closing it securely, you slip back underneath the covers of the bed, and bury your muzzle into Anon’s neck, with an almost un-royal amount of loving tenderness

>Your heartbeat was heavy with delight as he wrapped his arms around your barrel, cradling you tightly below your wings.  It made you squeal like a schoolfilly on the inside when he did that, but the preening that usually came after it was well worth the trouble. “Maybe I’ll teach him how to do that one of these days...” you’d thought to yourself.

>Unfurling your wing across him, you pull him in tightly, and just enjoy the moment of good friends embracing each other with not a single care in the world as it came to a crawl.

>It wasn’t until he opened his tired eyes and gave you a boop with his nose that you’d came back from the pleasant time of the two of you cuddling

“Good morning, sleepyhead” You joked as he looked into your eyes, almost losing himself in them as he shuffled around to get more cozy in your embrace

>“G’morning, Princess” He said, his words muffled by your fluffy chest after he’d buried his head in deep in it, savouring the feeling.

“If I didn’t have a country to run, I’d almost order the guards to leave us alone for the day just so we didn’t have to stop~” You say jokingly, resting your head on his as you felt the heat of a blush form on him

>“I wouldn’t mind that at all, but we should get some breakfast, since we have a big day ahead of us...” He agreed, loosening his grip on you just enough that you could get out, if you wanted to.

>It wasn’t until the gaggle of servants opening the door and rushing into the room in what felt to be a paradise of an eternity that you had separated from his embrace and got going with the day of a princess and him being an excellent compatriot.

>However, the two of you could just do it all over again tonight as well…..
