Madou Monogatari Timeline

If you ever heard "Madou Timeline" thrown around here and there, they're more than likely referring to the "Madou Monogatari Timeline Ver 2.0" from the Madou Monogatari Fun Book, which is official merchandise published in 1999 and has seen a 2017 reprint by the hands of D4 Enterprise (known for their MadouMono Ultimate Collection releases).

To preface this, a lot of the confusion with the timeline is more or less because the timeline accounts for unreleased Madou games due to Compile's financial hell bringing them under. The timeline only gives a small stint of events that we'll never truly experience from the unreleased games. In the past, this timeline was even laughed and shunned at for being what it is, until sever years later where lore fans uncovered it once more with newfound appreciation.

There are two different places where this timeline was previously translated, but I decided to put it here, compiling both source translations into one unified and more complete file. Lastly, the years are offset by 16 years to remove time relativity from Arle.

	A fantasy drama, formed from the reincarnation of the collapsed Madou World (from 516 years in the future) where our cast of characters were once in a contemporary high school setting.

11XXX≈ Years Ago
	Ragnarok breaks out. Human civilization reaches its peak and a terrible war between heaven and humanity breaks out. Lilith, a powerful mage of the title "Protector of Man", battles Devil Lord Lucifer (A.K.A. Satan) who leads the holy forces. One side righteous, one side wicked...yet perceptions of which role befits one are conflicted. To The Creator, however, their mixed opinion abstains them from answering the question, as their position is above good and evil.

11016≈ Years Ago - The Madou World's Birth
	Human civilization collapses under the destructive force of the world. Amidst the destruction however, Lilith performs a miracle. A new reality, the Madou World is born, existing in its own dimension between the original doomed world and the world of demons. This new land created in defiance against The Creator breaks the cycle of life, death, and reincarnation. Lucifer's failure and eventual betrayal by falling in love with the enemy enrages God, stripping him of his twelve wings and falling from Heaven. Lucifer is also forbidden from using his name any longer, instead going by the name of Satan from then on.

10016≈ Years Ago - A History Reborn
	The Causal Law begins anew. Unholy and holy creatures, known collectively as "Those who could not be man" or more recently as 'monsters', enter the world and intertwine with man in a new cycle.

7016≈ Years Ago - Great Ancient Civilization Period
	Humanity prospers with the aid of spiritual magic and a new, more stable world to live in.

==Age of Dawn==
1516≈ Years Ago - Ancient Madou Civilization Period
	The ancient civilizations deteriorated to a point where all history behind this point is lost, both orally and in written text. Common history begins from this period onwards, Lilith and Satan themselves being the sole exceptions.

1016≈ Years Ago - Birth of Ancient Magic(?)
	A new type of magic is discovered which begins to replace the spiritual magic of old in popularity. This new type of magic is fueled by directly absorbing magic power from external sources.

716 Years Ago - The Battling Era
	Spurred on by this new type of magic, a period characterized by legends, swords, magic and heroes begins.

366 Years Ago - Peak of the Battling Era

	Rune Lord, a dark magician, is sealed away in the imperial capital of Rana by a hero from another dimension named Ragnus.

	Schezo Wegey, at the age of 14 years old, becomes displaced from his home and winds up in the now abandoned city of Rana. Here he manages to defeat Rune Lord, obtaining the Dark Sword and mastering the spell Areiado in the process, becoming heir to the title "Dark Magician".

	Four-year-old Arle goes to live with her grandmother for a while and is given some chores to do. However, she manages to get lost in the forest near her grandmother's house and discovers some forest fairies that teach her how to cast their magic, which she uses to protect herself as she finds her way back home.

	Rulue is kidnapped by a vampire by the name of Count. She rescues herself from captivity, navigating the dungeon and meeting Satan for the first time, agreeing to help rescue Carbuncle as well. She eventually falls for him, following his assistance and the defeat of her captor.

	Arle's departs for magic school, and encounters the demon Asmode and the archaeologist Deus. Continues as an interlude between Madou Monogatari II and III.

	Arle is captured by Schezo Wegey, who intends to feast upon her magic and take her powers for himself. However, she escapes her cell and kills him before escaping to the Lyra Ruins to seek the red gemstone Rubelcrack to exchange for a mystical staff. Satan encounters Arle, and proposes she become his queen, much to the latter's chagrin. She defeats Satan and rescues Carbuncle instead of taking his gemstone.

⬤ ([Game] Madou Monogatari III - Ultimate Fighting Queen <GG>)
	Arle meets Rulue, the fighting queen becoming outraged learning she is in possession of Carbuncle. She sics her boydyguard, Minotauros, on Arle, chasing her into a forest. While findiong a way out, she suffers frostbite on her hands as a result of excessive casts of Ice Storm and goes in search of medicine to help her heal. However, the local shop isn't able to get its supplies as there's some trouble on the usual trade route. Investigating it, Arle meets Rulue at the source. After being impressed with Arle's magical prowess, Rulue agrees to stop causing trouble under the condition that Arle allows her to go to school with her. Arle and Rulue become close friends and classmates.

⬤ ([Novel] Shin Madou Monogatari 2 <Famitsu Bunko>)
	Arle and Rulue go on adventures after the events of Madou Monogatari III.

★ ([Game] Unreleased SS Madou Ver. 5.0 - Duke Harmage's Cell)
	Deriving from the first volume of Shin Madou Monogatari from Arle's departure to arrival at magic school, Satan has a fated encounter with a mad magical scientist involving the Three Treasured Gems, Rubelcrack, Azorecrack, and Verjecrack. Duke Harmage and the Three Demons plays a part in this tale, and lost memories of the conflict between the newly-born Yogs and the hero from Gaias, Ragnus, begins to surface.

Arle and Rulue enter magic school under the tutelage of the Masked Headmaster, Satan.

★ ([Game] Unreleased SS Madou Ver. 2.0 - Fetid Magician Once Again)
	Arle receives a request from her former kindergarten teacher to get rid of some monsters. She encounters and defeats the Rot Wizard, a powerful undead magician that attempted to kill her during her kindergarten graduation exam ten years ago.

	Arle accidentally invades a holy ancient dungeon while taking an exam. Here she meets Lilith, whom she mistakenly identifies as a doppelganger for lack of a better explanation for their striking visual similarities. She also meets 4 of the 8 jewel guardians--Red Ruby, Yellow Diamond, Blue Sapphire, and Green Emerald--defeats them and uses their jewels to obtain the Ruler's Mantle, which she, in turn, uses to defeat The Phantom God and become the heir to the Seraphim Orb. This causes the seal placed upon Arle at the age of 12, the one that erased her memories, to stir and activate.

However, Arle rejects her destiny to succeed Lilith and rule over the world using the Seraphim Orb. Phantom God continues to watch over the orb, commenting on how Arle and Lilith are alike in personality and appearance.

⬤ ([Game] Rulue's Spring Break of Fists <Windows>)
	Rulue attempts to finish her spring break homework, where one of three scenarios may occur during her adventure. She may encounter Count once again while collecting the five divine treasures, clash against Demiserf in Wonderful Land, or cook a pot of curry.

⬤ ([Game] Madou Monogatari - Tower of the Magician <Windows>)
	Schezo infiltrates the tower of Wish, Witch's grandmother, during the latter's exam. He inadvertently winds up saving Wish from Dark Matter and spares her for another time.

	Arle meets the rest of the jewel guardians--Flame Garnet, Lightning Zircon, Blizzard Aquamarine, and Storm Alexandria.

★ ([Game] Unreleased SS Madou Ver. 3.0 - Treasure Hunt)
	A story set in a magic school's vacation spot, where the students are tasked to hunt for treasure in a magical island.

★ ([Game] Unreleased SS Madou Ver. 4.1 - Fetid Magician Once More)
	Catastrophers Prologue, Act 1. Events unknown.

★ ([Game] Unreleased SS Madou Ver. 4.1 - Heartless Martial Art)
	Catastrophers Prologue, Act 2. A sad story where ninteen-year-old Rulue returns to her hometown and is forced to battle her disciples and teacher.

★ ([Game] Unreleased SS Madou Ver. 4.1 - The Hero and the Sanctuary)
	Catastrophers Prologue, Act 3. A flashback to 350 years ago, providing a behind-the-scenes look into the showdown between Ragnus and Rune Lord.

2 Years Later

	The entire magic world is wrapped up in rumors about the super-being "The Ancient One", with Arle and co. engaging in a grand battle against the "Catastrophers Seven", a doomsday cult that desires the world's demise. A group called "Triblade", consisting of Schezo's effeminate step-brother "Sword"--Rulue's father "Edge"--the leader and Arle's friend "Saber" also step in. "Swordmaster", Saber's father, also makes their debut as the best swordsman in history.

==Age of Turmoil==
4 Years Later
★ (The God's Judgement)
	The Causal Law awakens once more and The Creator begins to take action against the Madou World. It is revealed that Arle is immune to The Creator's influence and thus the only one capable of fighting him, being a supreme being of Lilith's ancestry of some nature. The mysteries behind Carbuncle are revealed, and the upper-species Jewel Guardian, High Jewel appears.

The Final Ragnarok ensued, a long battle spanning many dimensions against The Creator.

483(?) Years Later
★ (The Creator)
	The several hundred year showdown between Arle and The Creator comes to a close as he is defeated by Arle. However, it comes at a great price. Nothing is left standing in the battle's wake, leaving only an empty void where the Madou World used to be. No Creator, no laws, nothing. Arle's soul is torn apart by the struggle, but as she is eternal, she does not cease to exist with the rest of the old Madou World. Satan retrieves one half of her soul from the void, but he misidentifies it as the whole thing and the other half is left trapped in the void for 500 years as a result.

983≈ Years Later - A New Beginning
	Satan creates a new world modeled after the old Madou World complete with replicas of people from the old Madou World. Everyone's age is set in stone in this world and no one ever thinks about growing up. However, Arle's soul was damaged during the Madou World and only half of it is used in the creation of the "New Arle", weakening her greatly. Most people have no knowledge of what transpired before this point and their memories, if any, would have had to have been fabricated by Satan. After this point, the passing of time becomes nebulous.

==The New Age==
Present Day (post-Ragnarok)
⬤ ([Game] Madou Monogatari - Michikusa Ibun <PC98>)
	Arle discovers a strange spelled named "Owanimo" that allows her to sacrifice puyos to the goddess of spacetime, who in return grants magical power. This is the tie in game to the Puyo Puyo series.

	Satan grows bored of his created world, and deliberately allows Yog Swartus to invade the new Madou world for his amusement, baiting Arle, Rulue, Schezo, Lagnus and a gaggle of friends along on a journey to defeat the extra-dimensional monster. His chaos, however, eventually grows beyond the scope of his entertainment and requests the group to help end what he started.

★ (The Day the Puyo Disappeared)
	An story where the Puyo where the mysterious being Angol sends the Puyo to another magical world and the Madou characters attempt to bring the Puyo back.

	A parallel universe where Puyo are a power source in a futuristic world, starring Daichi, Shou, Marina, and Angolmoar.

⬤ ([Game] Puyo Puyo~n)
	The other half of Arle's soul returns after Satan discovers her unsuccessfully attempting to enter his new madou world and takes pity on her, allowing her to enter as 'So-Called-Doppelganger' Arle. "Doppelganger Arle" has become bitter and twisted over the five hundred years she spent lonely and trapped in the void between dimensions, misidentifying the new Arle as a fraud and in turn being misidentified as a doppelganger when she turns against Satan in order to challenge the new Arle for the right to exist. She is then beaten and ejected from reality due to a rule in Satan's new world wherein two versions of the same unique person cannot exist at once.
