  1. Sonic is an interesting character when it comes to potential echo fighters. There are multiple routes that you could go with for him. The obvious one is Shadow of course, then there’s Classic Sonic, then Amy, and then the character who we’re talking about today, Metal Sonic. Build by Eggman to perfectly replicate Sonics normal abilities, Metal could totally fit the bill as an echo fighter for Sonic, and you can even throw in some moves from other characters in order to make him feel more distinct from his organic original. And that is what I’m going to be doing today. To give him slightly different properties, and lot of Sonics multi hit moves like forward air, up air, and up smash will be one stronger hit compared to Sonics multiple weaker hits.

  3. Entrance animation:
  4. Metal Sonic flies up from the background and lands on the battlefield.
  5.
  6. Jab:
  7. Same as Sonics.
  8.
  9. Dash Attack:
  10. Same as Sonics.
  11.
  12. Forward Tilt:
  13. Same as Sonics.
  14.
  15. Down Tilt:
  16. Same as Sonics.
  17.
  18. Up Tilt:
  19. Same as Sonics. Though it’s one strong hitbox that gets weaker in the second half of the move rather than a multihit move.
  20.
  21. Up Air:
  22. Same as Marios.
  23.
  24. Neutral Air:
  25. Same as Mewtwos.
  26.
  27. Forward Air:
  28. Same as Sonics. Though it’s one strong hitbox that is weaker in the first half of the move rather than a multihit move.
  29.
  30. Back Air:
  31. Same as Sonics.
  32.
  33. Down Air:
  34. Same as Sonics.
  35.
  36. Forward Smash:
  37. Same as Sonics. Though without the spinning windup animation to fit Metal Sonics cold metallic nature.
  38.
  39. Down Smash:
  40. Same as Sonics.
  41.
  42. Up Smash:
  43. A kick very similar to Fox’s Up Smash.
  44.
  45. Neutral Special: Chest Laser.
  46. Metal Sonic winds up for a bit, before firing a laser from his chest. Functionally it is based off R.O.Bs old Infinite Robo Beam Custom Move from Smash 4, while visually it is based off Metal Sonics Chest Laser attack from Sonic the Fighters.
  47.
  48. Down Special: V.Maximum Overdrive Attack
  49. Metal Sonic lunges forwards through all opponents doing electrical damage. Does a great amount of damage and knockback, but does leave Metal Sonic open to attack for quite a bit. Think an unlimited Wonderwing, but it doesn’t make you invincible, not quite as strong, and with even more end lag. This move functionally is based off of Captain Falcons old Lightning Falcon Kick attack from Smash 4, and visually based off the lunge attack Metal Sonic preforms in Sonic CD and Sonic Generations.
  50.
  51. Side Special: Drop Headbutt.
  52. Metal Sonic jumps diagonally forwards into the air, then slams down with a headbutt. Functionally this move is based off of Ike’s old Aether Dive Custom Move from Smash 4, while visually it is based off Metal Sonics Drop Headbutt attack from Sonic the Fighters.
  53.
  54. Up Special: Metal Propulsion.
  55. Metal Sonic lets out a large blast from his jet boosters, sending him in any direction the player holds. This attack is functionally an upgraded version of Warios old Widescrew Custom Move from Smash 4.
  56.
  57. Grab:
  58. Same as Sonics.
  59.
  60. Pummel:
  61. Same as Sonics.
  62.
  63. Forward Throw:
  64. Same as Sonics.
  65.
  66. Back Throw:
  67. Same as Sonics.
  68.
  69. Up Throw:
  70. Same as Marios.
  71.
  72. Down Throw: Seismic Toss.
  73. Same as R.O.Bs. Visually based off one of his throws in Sonic the Fighters.
  74.
  75. Final Smash: Ultimate Maximum Overdrive Attack.
  76. Same as Pikachus.
  77.
  78. Taunt 1:
  79. Metal Sonic raises his hand into the air, similar to a pose he does before transforming into Metal Madness in Sonic Heroes.
  80.
  81. Taunt 2:
  82. Metal Sonic powers up, similar to one of Mewtwos or Heros taunts.
  83.
  84. Taunt 3:
  85. Metal Sonic wags his finger, similar to the same action in Sonic CD and Sonic Mania.
  86.
  87. Victory Theme:
  88. The first five seconds of Stardust Speedway. For a better idea of what I mean, listen here: https://youtu.be/8_ilcKRhQiE
  89.
  90. Victory Animation 1:
  91. Metal Sonic turns around before facing the camera and striking a pose, similar to his victory Animation in SA2.
  92.
  93. Victory Animation 2:
  94. Sonic is shown racing Metal Sonic, before barely losing to Metal, getting locked behinds a wall, and blasted by Doctor Eggmans laser. This is a reference to Metal Sonics boss fight in Sonic CD.
  95.
  96. Victory Animation 3:
  97. Metal Sonic spins his upper half around like a helicopter before striking a pose. This is a reference to Metal Sonics victory animations in Mario and Sonic at the Winter Olympic Games.
  98.
