Connar: (reading a paper, next to a cat kennel, while code is compiling on a nearby laptop)
Noi: you’re working on something and I see coffee, I see soda, and I see energy drinks, but I don’t see any hard liquor…who are you and what have you done with Connar?
Connar: very funny, things are starting to pick up again, so I don’t have the luxury of drinking myself into a coma. I have a war to plan
Noi: …you’re not kidding are you!? How bad have things gotten Xe
Connar: very bad, I’m all but certain that Nicodemus has returned
Noi: People don’t just come back from the other side of a breach Connar. What makes you so sure that he has returned?
Connar: It all started shortly after I brought Knightlight in for questioning. Bong called me into her office to speak with me about an abnormality in the model. A set of variables that had not been active for 68 years began coming back on line, 168 years ago I was added to the model to balance these variables out.
Noi: Chaos: When the present determines the future, but the approximate present does not approximately determine the future. Just the variables coming back into play doesn’t necessarily mean that he has returned.
Connar: Before Knightlight killed himself he said he was working for him on behalf of the whispers. The creature that pulled him through the breach at the temple was almost certainly drawn to his channeling of anti anima and its possible that…
Noi: Knightlight was telling the brothers what he thought they wanted to hear and even if what he said is true, there is no proof that he is working for the same Nicodemus
Connar: the interrogation is not the only thing that is troubling me, the other is in the cat kennel
Noi: (looking into the kennel) all I see is a severed (jumps back as the arm grabs the kennel door)
Connar: it’s the arm from the mystery agent. An informant from Ugly Street told me that the stone I was looking for was being sold to the morning light at an abandoned subway station in New York. I knew it was an ambush but I couldn’t let the stone get away from me for a second time. So with the help of Medrina, I was able to corner the bastard and pay him back for the sewers and the docks.
Noi: what makes you think this mystery agent has anything to do with Nicodemus?
Connar: The lab in Moscow ran a DNA analysis on the arm and after running the results through a “borrowed” Templar data base, they came back with a positive match, one Felix Washington.
Noi: so it’s been a zombie that’s been following you for the past few months?
Connar: Not exactly, this thing is way more intelligent than anything I have ever encountered on Solomon Island. The lab thinks it’s probably closer to the infected then it is to the undead, think more Ophiocordyceps unilateralis and less rabies. Any way the man it use to belong to is the least interesting thing about it, it bleeds filth, and is able to see without eyes and hear without ears and apparently its infected with the same virus I found in the werewolf and  Pickman and it is this same virus that’s reanimated both the arm and the Hound. I’m certain at this point that it is not Orochi’s work, this was something they captured and tried to control and…
Noi: I am sorry, what does this have to do with Nicodemus again?
Connar: When the hound was swallowed by the filth, it took control of his twitter account and it “spoke” with me, if you want to call it that, it referenced Nicodemus's defeat at Sobibor and his last stand at the temple of Sol invictus. It also foretold the end of the world by a virus, at the time I thought that maybe it was referring to an Orochi bio weapon that went missing around the same time as the hound. After seeing this virus pop up again and again…there is no doubt in my mind that this is what they were referring to.
Noi: So what’s your next move Xe? Do you have any idea what he might be up to and how to stop it or do we wait for another message.
Connar: Right now I have no idea what he is planning. However I think I may know where he is hiding, when Kenzie and I went to see Ramell he said “The red man lives on in the void Melchior, the mother has taken him into her bed and shown him tings made him her champion.” While I was helping Emma, I was briefly trapped by Lilith and during that time I saw Nicodemus’s face staring back at me from the other side of the filth. Now assuming I have interpreted what Ramell said correctly, I think we can hypothesize that Nicodemus is working with Lilith and is somewhere near ground zero in Tokyo.
Noi: So you’re going to attack ground zero by yourself? Or are you going to try and convince Bong to lend you an army.
Connar: I don’t think I am going to need to convince Bong. She’s already drawing up a list of newbie’s whom she wants to send to Venice and my new friend Medrina was among her top picks. I have no doubt that Kirsten and Sonnac are preparing similar list and I already sent Kenzie's file to Venice with my endorsement. Assuming Kirsten still knows what she’s doing she will endorse Kenzie as well and I will have someone to watch my back in Tokyo.
Noi: Correct me if I am wrong, but didn’t you refuse to train in Venice because the program was designed and run by the templar?
Connar: I did, and Bong has already handed down an ultimatum. Finish the training in Venice or be sealed in the Vault under Hong Kong. So those are my options, so I will be joining the newbie’s this fall.
Noi: (trying not to laugh)
Connar: What’s so funny?
Noi: Nothing…will you be wearing a ball cap backwards and riding a skateboard around Venice (bursts into laughter)
Connar: Hilarious, if I wasn’t so sure Nicodemus was back I might have opted for the vault. Right now all we can do is keep an eye on the filth in Agartha and deny Nicodemus any potential assets. Which brings me to our new friend (slides file across the counter)
Noi: The FixFixer… So what is this thing exactly?
Connar: it appears to be a collective entity similar to the buzzing but distinct from the Filth. It has already put out bounties on several other agents and has its own agents in every faction. I have been helping Kenzie and her friends with the investigation for a few days now and right now we’re just looking for information. I have yet to engage with him directly and I am hoping to avoid engaging him at all. The last thing anyone wants is for this unknown army to align itself with Nicodemus or to get bogged down in a two front war.
Noi: I’ll ask my contacts in London and New York if they know anything, if I hear anything I’ll let you know. Till then I’ll let you get back to work. Oh! And get that arm thing out of the hotel.
