+nationalparksign __ Well - the feeders/cleaners consistently wear the grey costume which the pandas are trained to associate with "food" and "clean up my cage and sh!t". (Volunteers who do that work wear the grey costume as well.)

It's the *blue costumes* (the actual "panda nanny" costume) that the pandas are trained to be "gentle and affectionate" with. *It's the result of training.* I strongly suggest that's why the public wear the blue costume - so that the (real) pandas don't maul them to death.

I expect the giant pandas know all about a "red punishment costume" where they fear the costume because they are made to pay for any behavioural transgressions.

__ Just to add: My points above are to extend yours. An attack video like that can be easily staged and not much about it suggested it wasn't.

The "potato cam" quality in 2016 and the guy narrating that her finger was "bitten off" are two things we'd expect from a staged video (Chinese audiences would be able to understand the workers).

Given that pandas are filmed on CCTV 24/7 there must surely be plenty of attacks like this one but we don't get to see them. *It would be bad publicity*. And so we would expect that kind of footage to be distributed by someone seemingly "random" and unrelated to the Chinese government.

The guy who filmed the "attack" has posted a number of panda videos to his channel *and wants to make money on them* (with the potentially "viral" attack video uploaded last instead of first).

I am not sure if this is typical behaviour for a tourist.

Just what are the odds that some random tourist happened to be there to film and narrate a "rare" attack at the right moment (though not the start of it) and then decide to post it to YouTube at a convenient low quality?

Perhaps he is holding onto the higher resolution footage in order to sell it to the highest bidder in case it does go viral. That suggests he's thought this through!

*He intends to make money on the feeders misfortune.* Is that typical behaviour for a tourist who adores pandas enough to go visit them?

The video reminds everyone not to place their fingers near a panda's mouth and to resist the temptation to touch them. Fearing pandas is a good thing if you don't want the public to get too close and potentially discover any fakes!
