Red Meteor Quest Part 14

It's another day, just a little after noon. Sadie was sleeping on top of you again when you woke up,but she quickly moved off and got ready for work. You told her about what Jane had done when you took her home, and she became pretty pouty after that. Not exactly mad, but a bit irritated. So with that she left you at home while she went off to work.

You didn't have much to do but clean up her house some more. Sadie was surprisingly bad at keeping things clean herself,but you just attribute that to her working most of the time and helping you keep the city safe. So the least you could do is make sure her place of residence was clean.

You actually kind of like cleaning the house up.

After you finish dusting off the TV, you get some more text from your friends...

From Sanja: Red, we should totally hang out, Helena is making steak for dinner tonight~!

From Jane: Oh uh...hey big guy! My mom and dad said they wanted to meet you properly this time, so they wanted me to see if you're free! I...I didn't forget about that fivesome thing...I'm still not ready!

From Sadie: Hey, I'm out at lunch right now, want me to grab something for you?

From Saya: Hey uh...so um,about this fivesome thing...? Are you for real?

You are Red Meteor, and it's another slow day...though you can't shake the feeling hat something big is going to happen soon.

You decide to grab some food with Sadie, you text Sanja and Jane that you aren't free, while telling Saya that you're perfectly serious about the fivesome, which leads to her sending you a message back that's just a garbled mess. Combining your powers together for special attacks? Who on earth could resist something as awesome as that? You tell Sadie that there's no need to drop by as you'll come to her.

Thankfully, the communicators you use to transform also have a tracking function for where each of the members are, so finding Sadie is no trouble. You transform and do some quick running and leaping until you're at a small store, Sadie standing outside with a box of donuts. Well...she is a cop after all.

You power down, once more wearing a suit, because you just really like them when Sadie sees you.

"Ah there you are! I hope you don't mind donuts."

"I'm fine with that." You say taking a jelly filled one

You and Sadie head to her squad car, where she lets you sit in the front seat, the two of you chomping on donuts.

"So how has work been? I hope there's been no trouble."

"From the criminals? No, things have been quiet thanks to us, but my fellow officers however..."

"What, are they causing problems for you?"

"W-well..."

It's just then that another squad car rolls up next to you.

"Well if it ain't Officer Stafford and...hey wait, who is that guy?" Another female officer says

"Oh great..." Sadie sighs

"Hey Stafford, Is this who I think it is?"

"Hi I'm Red." You say cheerfully to the officers "Sadie kept me captive in her apartment for an entire week."

At this point Sadie had taken a sip of her drink and as a knee jerk reaction to what you just said, she spat it out all over the window and steering wheel.

"W-what the hell are you saying!?" she yelled grabbing your neck and nearly choking you.

The two female officers laugh at this and get out of their car, inviting you and Sadie to join them for some food. You happily agree...while Sadie reluctantly agrees.

As you sit down with the two, one of them can't help but grin as she looks you over, letting out a whistle

"Alright Stafford, fess up, where'd you find this one?"

"W-what?"

"You know what I mean, this is quite the handsome man, what's he doing with you? Better yet...what's your relationship with Stafford anyway?"

"I live with her." You say bluntly

The women at the table all go silent as you continue munching on a donut. Sadie has a blush creeping on her face as you say that.

"You...live with her?" the other says

"Yeah, she took me in when all I had was a closet...well, more like she forced me to live with her." You reply chuckling

"So...you're a hobo?"

"Huh...? I don't think so?"

"Well, you live with her, but do you...actually do anything for her?"

"Oh! Well, I help her train sometimes, and I make sure the house is spotless. Sadie works hard so I figure the best I can do is make sure the house is clean. Oh yeah, and I keep her warm while she sleeps! The pass couple of days she's been- Ow!"

You let out a yelp of pain as Sadie elbows you in the side

"L-look, he's a live-in maid that's all! Nothing more, nothing less!"

"He seems way too well dressed for a live in maid."

"Yeah, I bet he's some rich playboy."

"H-he's not! He's not anything like that!" Sadie cries

"Look Stafford, it ain't up to me who you sleep with-"

"I-I don-don't do that!"

"Right. I'm just saying be careful, uh no offense Red."

Well you can't really fault them for being cautious. You recall an episode of Hyper Hero Force 5 where Hyper Pink began seeing someone, but he was actually a pretty shady character. With that in mind, you could perfectly understand their concern.

"None taken." You say calmly "That aside though...Sadie does sleep with me, I mean,she was sleeping on me this morning and-"

You feel a very tight squeeze on your arm. It is quite painful and when  you look over at Sadie she is giving you the most evil death glare she can muster. You feel like you'll be inviting a quick death if you go any further and so you decide to stop.

"Um...let's shift subjects here." You say with a cough "H-how have things been for you officers? I hope things haven't been too stressful."

The women both let out a laugh "With that Red Meteor and his friends running around? things have been pretty okay lately." The first states

"Yep, sometimes all we have to do is go and cart the guys off after they've been beaten to a pulp." the other says

"That's good to hear. I'm glad things are going well."

"So are we. Hey Red, so you and Sadie really aren't dating right?"

"NO!" Sadie shouts, causing a few people to turn and look at your table

"Take it easy Stafford, I just wanna ask him something."

The officer motions for you to follow her outside of the store

"Okay, so I just wanna ask you something...do you really like Stafford? I mean in that kind of way?

You think about Sadie, you do enjoy her company, and you actually really like when she sleeps on you. She's quite the cuddle monster. And she'd been wearing a robe less and less around you lately. You fixate on that thought for at least a full minute before speaking.

"Well she does look cute in underwear."

"...I see. I'll take that as a yes then." The officer sighs

"Well look, how about you take her out then? That girl is clearly hung up on you, we've all noticed it at the precinct. Sometimes she's just flat out sighing and it pains my heart to see a woman pining like that."

"Well,what do you want me to do?" you say

"Take her out! Woo her! Anything to get her heads out of the clouds like that!"

"Oh...but isn't she on the clock right now?"

"Don't worry, me and Pelasko will cover for her.We were gonna tell her to make a move, but since you're here already, this makes things easier. She should be convincing Stafford of the same thing."

The two of you walk back in the place, with the officer you were with telling Pelasko that they should get going, all the while, Sadie is sitting there blushing.

"H-hey...Red? Um...well...you wanna um...hang out for a while? Just you and me?"

"How about some ice-skating, that'll be fun won't it?"

"Oh...well I guess so." Sadie says with a small smile

What follows is the two of you heading out to an ice-skating rink you'd seen during your usual duties. Sadie kept close to you, most likely in an effort to keep warm, however you note that she also wrapped her arm around yours. You happily hold her close as the two of you walk along.

You both were walking a bit slow and so it took you a while to reach the ice-skating rink, but once there you both get some ice skates in the appropriate size and get ready to go. Just before you do, Sadie looks at you with concern.

"Hey um...Red, are you going to be okay?"

"What do you mean?" You ask with a raised eyebrow

"Well, you're uh...kinda warmer than most people, I don't want you to melt the ice and fall in or something."

"Thanks, but I should be fine. How about you?"

"Well I control water and ice, so I'll definitely be okay."

You step out on the ice. "So then Sadie...shall we go?"

She gingerly takes your hand "Oh my, I didn't know you were such a gentleman."

"A hero needs to be." You say with a hint of pride

You and Sadie begin skating, both of you manage to be pretty good at it, not slipping up and keeping together rather well. You decide to try and get a bit fancy and grabbing Sadie by the waste, you lift her up by the waist, holding her up with one hand.

"W-whoa Red, set me down!" Sadie yells, but really she's giggling as she spreads her hands out and enjoys you holding her up like that. A few people who are there watch as you two continue on doing a few more tricks. Really, you aren't even sure how you manage to pull these off, the episode of Hyper Force 5 that had figure skating made it out to be really complicated and difficult.

"Hey Red, watch this!" Sadie says as you set her down. She speeds up, gaining some speed. After she has adequate speed, she leaps into the air and manages to spin three times before landing perfectly.

You and a few other crowd goers clap at her display, Sadie bowing and having a slight blush of embarrassment as you do so.

"Wow,  you're pretty good Sadie!" You say as she returns to your side

"Haha, not really, I just remember watching some figure skating when I was little, so I wanted to try that at least once."

"Well, you could definitely give the pros a run for their money."

"Now you're just flattering me." she says with a blush

You and Sadie continue skating together. She seems to slip a few times though, but she manages to reaffirm her balance before she actually falls over. As for you though, you're doing pretty good and even manage to pull off the same trick that Sadie did. Though that's only because you saw her do it, you can't really think of anything else to do.

However, you decide to play a small trick on Sadie and sweep her up in your arms. She lets out a surprised squeak before you toss her up into the air, a bit higher than is normal for the usual person, but as Sadie lets out a yell you effortlessly catch her in your arms and hold her tight.

"Y-you...don't do that!" she says punching your chest.

"Okay, Okay, I'm sorry." You say while laughing

The two of you continue enjoying yourselves for a few more hours before heading back and returning the skates.

"So then, what should we do next?"

"Let's go see a movie." you suggest

"I'd like that. I'm not too sure what's playing though." Sadie remarks as the two of you exit the ice-skating rink. That was fun, maybe you should come here with the others some time?

The two of you take your time walking to the movie theater. The same one you and Saya went to actually. Sadie continues having her arm wrapped around you as you continue providing a nice source of heat, making sure that you don't get too hot lest she pull away. You really don't want that to happen.

You eventually arrive at the movie theater and look at the list of movies playing. What should you take Sadie to see? She's looking at you expectantly,so it looks like you'll have to choose something

You decide to go see Phantom in the Case, you'd seen a few commercials of it on TV and it looked okay. You pay for the tickets and head to the specified room to watch the movie.

What follows is a movie that's...interesting. The main character is basically a cyborg who was created by some organization that was led by her former best friend, who was actually someone else and she goes on to destroy them single-handedly pretty much.

Sadie watches it with rapt attention, as if she's trying to dissect the movie entirely. It continues on with the movie revealing that the main character was never a human at all but is a full on android, and was merely given the memories of a person who had died in some misguided attempt to try and  revive her.

This movie is confusing.

After the credits roll, you and Sadie exit with her having a thoughtful look on her face.

"Well did you like the movie?" You ask

"It was...okay,but it just got me thinking, it's probably only a matter of time before we run into something like that isn't?"

You can't help but rub your chin in thought at this. "You may be right, but we'll just have to cross that bridge when we get there."

"If I had to be honest, I hope that we never get there. Anyway, what should we do next?"

Well, you can't really blame her for that. The less troubles you have to deal with, the better off you'll be.

"I know the perfect place to go next!" You say raising your fist in triumph

Sadie merely raises her eyebrow in surprise but she follows you out of the theater and towards the arcade that Tim told you about. It was a small building that a slick logo on the front that read 'Rosen Arcade' on it, a place that went above and beyond when it came to arcade games, even importing some from Japan. Back when you had your suit on entirely, he managed to get you in with him saying that you were merely his uncle dressed up for a friend's party that you were heading to later.

When you step inside, the sweet smell of arcade games hits your nose as Sadie stares at all the games.

"Huh...I had no idea this place existed." She mutters

"Come on Sadie, I'll get us some tokens." You say taking out a crisp 20 dollar bill that you place into the token machine, which spills out large handful of coins. You take a small cup from the stack next to the machine and fill them up, the thing being full to the brim.

"I'll let you choose, I'm not the biggest video game aficionado." Sadie shrugs

"Sure thing, but don't be surprised if you lose." You say smugly

"We'll see about that."

"That's what Jane said before I beat her Super Clash Cousins 4."

"Let's try the claw game." You say walking over to it

"Really? Aren't those games rigged?"

"No, you just need the magic touch." You say with a smile

You put in a couple of coins and move the  claw as lightly as you can. This game is all about concentration and you can't let that be interrupted. Sadie watches you with great attention as you bring the claw down on a cute little rabbit plush. You think you hear Sadie squeak in happiness as the claw latches onto it, but just as it's moving back to the starting position. The Rabbit drops.

"Dammit." You mutter

"So much for the magic touch." Sadie grumbles

"Well you give it a try then." you deadpan

"Alright, I will!" She says stepping up to your challenge

Sadie tries her best to move the claw into the right position, but she ultimately flubs it and doesn't grab anything, a small whimper escaping her breathe as she sees the claw return to the position.

"Stupid game..." She mutters

You decide to try again, Sadie moving aside so you can take another crack at it. Unfortunately, this time it doesn't go as well as before with the claw managing to grip the bunny for a second before it slips through the claw's grasp and returns to its pile of fluffy friends once more.

"No luck." You say

"M-move aside!" Sadie exclaims pushing you and taking some more tokens to push into the machine. She once again fails to grab the bunny and this time she lets out a growl of anger.

"Stupid game!" She hollers, letting out a cry of defeat

Poor thing, she clearly wants that bunny toy quite a bit.

One last time. For Sadie. You put some more tokens into the machine  and this time you're even more careful than before, moving the claw so that it is perfectly aligned with the bunny. You bring it down and luckily, it seems the claw got a firm grasp on it! It slowly moves towards the drop off position, you and Sadie watching and hoping that it doesn't fall.

It gets closer

And closer...

And even closer

And even closer still until...!

Pop

The shut opens with the bunny rabbit now free of its claw game prison, you pick it up and hand it over to Sadie.

"For you." You say with a chuckle

Sadie quickly takes it and holds it tight in her grasp "T-thanks..." She mutters with a cute blush. The two of you move on to play some more games, Sadie doing her best to help in Streets of Anger, but unfortunately dying pretty early in.

Unsurprisingly, it's Time Dilemma where she really shines. Being a trained cop, she's able to make quite a few shots and takes cover whenever an enemy opens fire. She's so good she gets a way higher hit percentage than you.

Eventually it comes time to leave, You and Sadie deciding to head home for the night. You spent far more time in the arcade than you anticipated, probably because of the claw game (which Sadie went back to a few times, only to lose).

Once home, the two of you throw off whatever jackets and such, with you plopping back on the couch, your home away from home.

"Hey...Red can I ask you something?" Sadie says fidgeting slightly

"Sure thing, what is it?"

"Um...that...thing you did with Jane..."

"Oh uh...that kiss you mean?" You reply flushing slightly

"Yeah...that...what did you think about it?"

"What did I think?"

"Did you like it or not?"

"Huh...?'

"Don't make me repeat myself!"

"It was great." You say somewhat shyly "I didn't expect it to happen, but it felt pretty good and-"

You can't finish your sentence as Sadie pushes you back onto the couch, holding your arms in place as she sits on your chest.

"You're forbidden." she pouts

"Huh...?"

"I said you're forbidden!" she exclaims

"Forbidden from what?" you ask confused by her sudden actions

You don't get an answer, instead, what you get is a kiss. A kiss from Sadie. A really deep kiss from Sadie, that involves quite a bit of tongue

"That. You're forbidden from doing that." She says blushing hard, she's probably internally embarrassed at what she's doing

"I..but...well."

"No. You can't do that with any other girl but me." She mutters

"But Sadie-"

She shuts you up by kissing you again, making out with you the best she can. "I said no. So shut up and listen." She leans in and kisses you again

"Your lips are warm..."she says looking away

"Uh...I-I'm sorry?" You aren't sure how to process everything that's happening, you do know one thing: You aren't hating this

She leans in once more, giving you another deep kiss. "Jerk. You need to stop doing this?"

"Doing what?" You ask

"Being...you."

"Being me?"

"Yes...because I like you. I like you a lot" Before you can reply she's on you again, you can feel her heart beating fast. As she leans on you. The moment is broken when you're communicator goes off.

You stop Sadie's onslaught for a moment to answer it, the person calling being saya

"H-hey, are you guys watching the news right now?"

"Uh...no why?"

"Turn it on, hurry!"

Sadie moves off of you,as the two of you turn on the TV, what you see sends chills down your spine. A large monster, the size of a small building at least, is completely wrecking the downtown area.

"What on earth is that?!" Sadie howls

"No time to question it, we gotta go." You say  "Saya, call the others up, we've got work to do."

"Already on it, let's get down there fast!"

And just when you were having an excellent night too...
