  35. - A single save file uses 1 block of space.
  36. - Below you can see the game's release dates in different regions and
  37. which version of the game the release used. The North American release
  38. (v1.1) had the most bug fixes (until Second Evolution). The only notable
  39. change in v1.2 is the ability to speed up the IC animation. Save data
  40. from v1.0 is fully compatible with the Japanese v1.3 release and the
  41. other way around.
  42.

  48. PS4 | v2.1 | 28.10.2015 (SE)(J only)
  49.
  50. - The 2023 remake, SO2R, is a whole different beast. The changes regarding
  51. the gameplay are so numerous it's just a different game, one that I've
  52. never played and don't intend to. I would've gladly played it if they'd
  53. recreated all the visuals in hand-drawn 2D. *Real* handdrawn 2D, none of
  54. that digital crap.
  55.
  56. - SO2 has only two mandatory characters: Claude and Rena. You'll have to
  57. choose one of them as the main character at the start of a playthrough.
  58. The events of the game will be viewed from the perspective of the main
  59. character, with relatively minor differences between the two. PAs are
  60. largely different (if you even bother with those).
  61. - There are 10 optional characters, of which you can have at most 6 join
  62. your party. Some of them are mutually exclusive.
  63. a. Ashton | Opera (& Ernest)
  64. b. Precis | Bowman
  65. c. Leon (C only) | Dias (R only)
  66.
  67. - Private Actions (PA) return, and triggering them is one of the ways you
  68. can alter the two affinity values, RP and FP. Depending on these values,
  69. you can end up getting a variety of different character pair endings.
  70. - The affinity values range between 0-15, with 5 being the most common
  71. default value. Each character has their own RP and FP values for all other
  72. characters.
  73. - There are some events outside of PAs that will also increase affinity.
  74. The most common boost involves all opposite sex PCs getting +1 RP between
  75. each other and same sex PCs getting +1 FP between each other.
  76. - Higher RP makes it more likely for a character to get angered in response
  77. to another character dying, doubling their ATP for 20 seconds.
  78.
  79. - Stats:
  80. Str | Base ATP (Attack Power)
  81. Con | Base DFP (Defense Power)
  82. Dex | Base Accuracy/Hit
  83. Agl | Base Evade
  84. Int | Base Magic
  85. Stm | Stamina at the start of battle.
  86. Guts | Crit roll 1 (Guts/10), Defend roll (half damage)(Guts/10),
  87. Remain at 1 HP rate (255 max)
  88. Luck | ?
  89.
  90. - Base physical damage is ATP - 1,5*DFP. For the sake of convenience,
  91. enemy ATP values are divided by 1,5, so you can calculate base damage
  92. with 1,5(enemy ATP - DFP).
  93. - Enemies generally have low defense, which is why they're mostly absent.
  94. When a DFP value is given, it's already been multiplied by 1,5.
  95. - Crits do 1,5x damage and have a 50% chance to inflict stun, which lasts
  96. 2 seconds (or longer if re-inflicted). There seem to be two separate
  97. critical hit rolls. One defined by Guts (Guts/10) and another defined
  98. by the combined Crit values of your gear (Crit/5). When you get a Guts
  99. crit, you'll see 'Guts' pop up over the character (also happens with
  100. other Guts-related rolls). There's no 'double crit,' though, that would
  101. give you a greater damage multiplier. I think the second roll is passed
  102. if the first one succeeds.
  103. - The vast majority of enemies have a Crit value of 40, and only a few
  104. enemies have a Guts value greater than 0. Enemies with an exceptionally
  105. high Crit value will have their ATP marked with a 'c.'
  106. - The effect of Luck is a complete mystery. It plays no part in crits,
  107. that's for sure. It might have some impact on the encounter rate like
  108. it does in ToP.
  109. - Elemental resistance still comes in the same five flavors (neutral,
  110. resistant (0,5x), weak (2x), immune, absorb), although equipment can
  111. now make you weak to elements. A higher level resistance will supersede
  112. a lower level resistance (including weakness).
  113. - As a result of the random variable, damage varies between approximately
  114. 98-108%. (100-110% for magic)
  115. - There are no longer any attacks that have the energy-based attribute.
  116. - Knockback caused by attacks is still defined by Knockback and Weight
  117. values. Average Wgt is 8, and average Kb is 16. Most enemies are 8 Wgt.
  118. Lighter enemies are 4 or 6. Heavy enemies are 12-15 or even higher. A
  119. higher weight means less knockback and, thus, a shorter hitstun. Indeed,
  120. heavy enemies can easily punish you at close range, but their weight
  121. also makes them more vulnerable to multi-hit attacks, which aren't as
  122. effective on lighter enemies, as they're quickly pushed out of range
  123. (unless they're pinned down).
  124. - Movement speed (Mov) is in no way affected by Weight. Those are two
  125. separate things. Some battlefields have uneven ground, which has a minor
  126. impact on movement speed.
  127. - Block rate is calculated the same way as before: (tgtEva - Accy)/255.
  128. Attacks can only be blocked from the front. If a subject is moving away
  129. from the attacker even in the slightest angle, hits will be considered
  130. back hits. Otherwise, they're considered frontal hits. I don't know if
  131. Accuracy multipliers exist for waza.
  132. - Similar to ToP, battle skills gain Proficiency when used (1 point per
  133. use, up to 999). Reaching certain thresholds will then level up the move,
  134. although they can't level up mid-battle. There are no ougis to be learned
  135. the same way as in SO1.
  136. - Magic potency is similar as before, with a base potency figure along
  137. with Mag and Proficiency modifiers. For enemies, Proficiency = Level.
  138. - Healing spells don't use a random variable this time.
  139. - Post-battle recovery is still remaining Stamina/8 (percent). Stamina
  140. consumption is also very similar, as seen below. For whatever reason,
  141. only Claude, Dias, Ashton, and Bowman gain any Stamina from leveling up.
  142. - If you're moving and issue an attack command without stopping, this
  143. will still consume 1 Stm, as it results in a brief interruption in the
  144. movement input.
  145. 1 | Start moving
  146. 1 | Normal attack
  147. 2 | Waza
  148. 3 | Magic
  149. 1 | Get hit (dmg>0)
  150. 1 | Die
  151.
  152. - Status ailments:
  153. - Stun: Unable to act for 2 seconds.
  154. - Poison: Lose 1/33 mHP periodically (both in battle and on the field).
  155. - Paralysis: Incapacitated.
  156. - Petrification: Incapacitated.
  157. - Silence: Unable to cast magic.
  158. - Instant Death (ID): Instant death.
  159.
  160. - An attack can't inflict an ailment if it deals no damage.
  161. - Incapacitated (killed, paralyzed or petrified) characters don't gain
  162. any Exp. Resting will not heal paralysis or petrification. You can't
  163. heal the HP or MP of a paralyzed character with magic, but they can't
  164. take damage either.
  165. - You can no longer switch weapons or characters during battle and you
  166. still can't enable or disable spells during battle.
  167. - The game uses the same Exp chart as SO1 and SO3.
  168.
  169. - You only have two slots for wazas (special techniques) this time. Some
  170. wazas behave differently depending on whether they're used at SR or LR.
  171. - Wazas have priority values that determine which one the AI will focus
  172. on using. (The actual mechanics of the prioritization are no doubt more
  173. nuanced than that, but this is the practical upshot.)
  174. - When the target is above the ground, the AI will ignore moves that
  175. don't have the "air flag." Some enemies that are merely floating a
  176. little above the ground are considered to be in the air, much to the
  177. detriment of the AI's performance.
  178. - If both moves have the same value, either both moves are used evenly
  179. or the first one takes priority (the latter mainly happens with high
  180. priority moves).
  181. - The AI will use normal attacks on a target whose current HP is low
  182. enough for the character to kill them in a single hit. If it's not
  183. quite that low, they'll use a lower priority waza instead.
  184. - A lower priority waza will also be used if the higher priority one
  185. deals no damage due to elemental resistance (Sword Bomber being an
  186. exception (likely an oversight)). Likewise, a lower priority move may
  187. be used if the enemy is weak to its element.
  188. - If the character's base damage is high enough, whatever move is in
  189. the first slot will be given priority. This won't happen with most moves
  190. with a value of 1 unless the damage is much higher than the threshold.
  191. The thresholds are roughly as seen below. If you're hovering just around
  192. the threshold, you can see both moves being used.
  193. 1000: Opera
  194. 2000: Chisato, Ernest
  195. 3300: Claude, Precis, Ashton, Bowman, Dias
  196. - Priority values seem to change with proficiency. The values I've
  197. listed are all based on max level waza.
  198. - If a character can't deal any damage to an enemy, they'll only use
  199. normal attacks.
  200. - Fighters will use healing moves when below 25%.
  201.
  202. - Rena's AI settings:
  203. 1. Cast healing spells only (when below 2/3 HP). Avoid the enemy.
  204. 2. Cast all types of spells. Heal when below 2/3 HP. Avoid the enemy.
  205. 3. Healing only. Heal when at or below 50% HP. Avoid the enemy.
  206. 4. Don't cast spells. Avoid the enemy.
  207. 5. Don't cast spells. Engage the enemy.
  208. 6. Do nothing.
  209. - The AI won't consider a character to be a valid target for a healing
  210. spell if their max HP is less than 2/3 of the spell's base power.
  211. - The AI will still not cast a multi-target healing spell instead of
  212. a single target spell if single target spells are disabled.
  213. - The AI will cast Growth on a fighter whose base damage is less than
  214. 1/16 of an enemy's HP (no attacks required)(takes Auto-Anger into account)
  215. (elemental resistance not taken into account).
  216. - The AI will cast Protection on a character if an enemy's base damage
  217. is more than 1/6 of the character's max HP (no attacks required)(special
  218. attacks with increased ATP are not taken into account).
  219. - Enemies usually target the character closest to them, but also have a
  220. habit of going after a character that damaged them. Keep that in mind
  221. when using offensive spells.
  222.
  223. - When choosing a blue target during battle, left and right let you
  224. scroll the characters in the order as seen in the status bar, whereas
  225. up and down use y-axis values. When choosing a hostile target, the
  226. cursor moves "visually."
  227. - The game does not prevent you from picking up items that you already
  228. have 20 of.
  229. - The Check accessories have been de-nerfed.
  230. - Characters reach 9999 HP between Lv100-110 and 999 MP around Lv180.
  231. - The game will use teal for unequipped items as if they were new.
  232. - New pieces of equipment were visible in teal in the equipment menu
  233. as well in v1.0. Not the case in later versions.
  234. - When shopping, pressing Confirm will now complete the transaction(s).
  235. You can still buy and sell at the same time.
  236. - The time it takes to escape from battle is 1 + 0,5(eLv - Lv) seconds,
  237. where eLv is the enemy's average level and Lv is your active party's
  238. average level. The time is 1s at minimum and 11s at maximum. Average
  239. enemy levels are included in the encounter list.
  240. - There's no way to turn off the music or voice acting. (I play the
  241. game on mute myself.)
  242. - If two spells are cast pretty much at the same time, it may produce
  243. a spell fusion effect, resulting in a more powerful spell. Regardless,
  244. magic is just not a good source of damage, so it doesn't really matter.
  245. - Regarding the PAL conversion, the speed is more or less optimized
  246. (movement speed values are multiplied by 1,2, and attacks have some
  247. frames cut from their animations) while the resolution isn't. The script
  248. contains some minor changes, mainly changing US spelling to UK spelling.
  249. I've used the US spelling forms, although I don't really play either of
  250. the English versions. All speed/time values referenced apply to the NTSC-
  251. versions unless otherwise noted.
  252.
  253. - IC works pretty much the same way as it did in SO1, although it's now
  254. a bit slower (much slower in v1.0 and v1.1). Going through 19 items
  255. takes about 90 seconds (3 minutes in v1.0/v1.1). On the plus side, the
  256. game no longer takes you back to the IC menu after an attempt, which
  257. makes it easier to do IC with a character who isn't the best at the skill.
  258. Also, if more than one character is the best at a skill, the game no
  259. longer chooses one in random, but instead selects the one at the highest
  260. slot number.
  261. - The amount of SP gained when leveling up is about the same as your
  262. level figure.
  263. - The amount of bonus SP gained when learning a new Talent is now 100.
  264. - Skill levels are no longer rounded up.
  265. - Some characters start with levels in some skills (even without having
  266. bought the sets that include those skills). However, the characters will
  267. not receive any of the stat bonuses you would normally receive from
  268. raising the skill to that level.
  269.
  270.
  271. Second Evolution
  272.
  273. - Second Evolution (SE) is still largely the same game. Here are some of
  274. the changes:
  275. - The screen is zoomed in, and areas that don't scroll on the x-axis
  276. have been stretched. All in all, the field visuals look worse, whereas
  277. the battle visuals look better.
  278. - Voice Collection is gone, replaced with the Voice Gallery, where you
  279. unlock all the character's voices by having them in your party when
  280. you beat the game. Beating the game also unlocks the higher difficulty
  281. levels.
  282. - Voice acting has been re-done and dialog is voiced.
  283. - Bug fixes (eg. no more crashing)
  284. - Fighters can do a combo with their normal attacks.
  285. - Characters are no longer interrupted if an enemy or another character
  286. is pushed on to them.
  287. - The Quick Change and AI Switch buttons are gone.
  288. - Four elements have been removed: Thunder, Star, Vacuum and Void.
  289. - Some spells have shorter animations.
  290. - Spell fusion is gone.
  291. - The battlefields are somewhat different and largely uniform (eg. the
  292. ones with more vertical space than horizontal space are gone).
  293. - In surprise encounters, your characters start off stunned.
  294. - The overworld camera doesn't pan automatically.
  295. - One new playable character.
  296. - The items in the game are largely the same, with the addition of Welch's
  297. weapons and the Umaibous.
  298. - Items are automatically sorted according to type.
  299. - The IC animation is different, and a single attempt is about 6s. It's
  300. faster than in v1.0 or v1.1, but still slower than in v1.2/1.3.
  301. - Strong Blow, Provocation and Float have been removed, while 3 new
  302. combat skills for mages have been added.
  303. - Piety only increases a random stat by 1.
  304. - The Energy Nede Snowfields encounter set is gone and along with it
  305. the three enemies exclusive to that encounter set (Saber Bunny, Snowman,
  306. Mount Snow).
  307. - The English version has plenty of name changes.
  308. - On the PS4, the game automatically highlights the least recent file
  309. in the save data screen. If you're doing two playthroughs at the same
  310. time, you need to be very careful when saving the game.
  311.
  312.
  313. Voice Collection
  314.
  315. - Similar to SO1, the game features a sound player, where you can listen
  316. to the voice clips you've triggered. There are 1279 voice clips in total.
  317. Each fighter has about 90 clips, whereas each mage (4) has about 120.
  318. There are 3 bosses who are also part of the collection (about 20 each).
  319. The collection displays each clip as being part of an image that may
  320. eventually start to resemble something if you're industrious enough.
  321. (Just look it up online if you don't have the patience.)
  322. - The collection isn't just there to prey on compulsive behavior; if
  323. you manage to get 50% (640) of the voices, you'll be given access to
  324. the higher difficulty levels, Galaxy and Universe. Getting 75% (959)
  325. gives you a music player, and 95% (1215) adds a visualizer effect to
  326. the image.
  327. - Unfortunately, the game doesn't provide a figure for how many clips
  328. you've obtained, and checking your collection is rather tedious, as you
  329. can only browse them in order, one by one. Getting from the beginning to
  330. the end takes 43 seconds (51 in PAL).
  331. - It's also regrettable that the collection doesn't have its own save file.
  332. Instead, it relies entirely on the game save files on the memory cards.
  333. - Getting your collection even close to max is a colossal task, however,
  334. and I really wouldn't recommend trying unless you're *incredibly* motivated.
  335. Getting those rare alternate clips takes ages.
  336. - You can listen to an unobtained voice if there's an obtained voice
  337. adjacent to it. Just move the cursor immediately after hitting O.
  338.
  339.
  340. Bugs
  341.
  342. - The game has bugs that cause crashing. Crashing can occur during battle,
  343. in the menu and during dialog. Hell, I've even gotten a crash when leaving
  344. the voice collection. Crashing in the menu is the least common, whereas,
  345. by far, the most common occurence of crashing is at the very end of a
  346. battle when the screen goes black. You may be able to reduce the chances
  347. of this occuring by avoiding unnecessary input at the end of a battle
  348. (don't even move the analog sticks). There are a couple of dungeons where
  349. crashing is much more common, but aside from that, it shouldn't be common.
  350. Crashing also seems less likely to occur on emulator.
  351. - Accessories that increase or decrease stats by a proportional figure
  352. are shown to only increase the base stat even though they actually affect
  353. the total figure. (It's not properly applied until you get into battle.)
  354. - When checking the Accuracy bonus of equipped gear at the start of battle,
  355. the game reads the Evade value instead. This renders any intended Accuracy
  356. bonus from all gear void, aside from proportional modifiers. Meanwhile, any
  357. gear that increases Evade by an absolute figure also increases Accuracy by
  358. the same figure (not visible in the menu).
  359. - If you change waza settings and leave the menu quickly, you won't have
  360. any encounters so long as you don't do anything that makes the game audibly
  361. seek something on the disc. The bug will also deactivate if you spend about
  362. half a second anywhere in the menu after setting a waza.
  363. - Music bug: The tunes that are supposed to increase your stats during
  364. battle don't actually do anything *unless* you have Practice or Comprehension
  365. enabled. Turning on Practice for any reserve character is enough to resolve
  366. the issue, Don't touch Comprehension, though.
  367. - Deep Mist is meant to decrease Accuracy, not Evade.
  368. - Gale does nothing. Either that, or it's always in effect and does in fact
  369. increase movement speed, but only when executing an attack command.
  370. - When using Hop Step, Precis may jump hundreds of meters into the air if
  371. the enemy was above her.
  372. - The AI does not acknowledge lowered MP costs. As a result, the AI won't
  373. use a move if the regular MP cost is higher than their current MP.
  374. - If you revive / heal an incapacitated character after using the Escape
  375. command, the character will take minutes to run away.
  376. - The Cracker's particle effect may cease.
  377.

  385. New Game
  386.
  387. - You'll go through some settings when you start a new game, but you can
  388. freely tweak them later. The three different "Battle Modes" are simply
  389. three different presets for the targeting, camera, and movement settings.
  390. - Check your Voice Collection before choosing New Game to have the option
  391. of playing on a higher difficulty level (provided you have enough voices
  392. unlocked). This is the one choice you can't change after the game has
  393. started.
  394. - Save files have no clear indicator as to what difficulty level they're
  395. on. You can still easily figure it out by checking some enemy's HP.
  396.

  401.
  402. - If you have the patience, keep resetting (or load a save file where
  403. you can quickly get a game over; incapacitate all your characters on
  404. the field, then trigger a battle) until your main character starts with
  405. Dexterity. It's not a big deal if you don't have it, though.

  473. Your destination is the next town, which isn't far, but you'll definitely

  475. - You should feint the Lizard Axes (by moving away, not sideways). After
  476. swinging the air, there's a decent chance they'll do nothing, thus allowing
  477. you to get a hit in.
  478. - If you input an attack command when you're close to the 'attack spot,'
  479. your character will make a little jump to the attack spot instead of using
  480. regular movement. This will eventually serve as a great disadvantage later
  481. in the game when you can double your movement speed and enemies get faster

  528. - Capital letters indicate areas with items.
  529. - [R] You are in a very vulnerable position, seeing as Rena is never
  530. really meant to do physical battle. The enemies can strike you down with
  531. ease. You should save between every battle at first.
  532. - [R] You've got Heal and you can also return to the mansion to rest.
  533. - [R] Here's how to handle the four enemy types found here:
  534. - Lizard Axe: You can avoid their attack by moving away, but you need
  535. to let them pretty close before they attack. After avoiding the attack,
  536. you *usually* have a safe window to hit them. Usually. Once you manage
  537. to land one hit, you might as well button mash to try to finish them
  538. off right away. (No need to feint them in SE, since you actually have
  539. them beat in attack speed.)
  540. - Funny Thief. You can't avoid their attack. It's simply too fast (0,1s).
  541. Instead, you need to try to get the frame advantage to interrupt it.
  542. Do so by attacking when you're in one of the four positions seen below:
  543. If successful, the thief will back away instead of attacking, thus
  544. giving you the advantage (doesn't work in SE. You'll just have to tank
  545. it). They're not particularly aggressive, though, so you can often take
  546. them out without any resistance.
  547.
  548. R R
  549. T
  550. R R
  551.
  552. - Kobold: Approach them the same way as Lizard Axes.
  553. - Vorpal Bunny: These guys move by hopping around, thus triggering your
  554. jump attacks when they're in the air. Their attacks are easy to evade
  555. (the ranged rocket punch will just straight up miss you if you don't
  556. move closer (fixed in SE)), but they hit the hardest, so you can't afford
  557. as many mistakes or as much bad luck. Try to catch them with a jump attack
  558. when they're landing from a jump. Avoid situations where you might get
  559. hit by a rocket punch while attacking another bunny.
  560. - Hitting multiple enemies with a normal attack is technically possible,
  561. but very rare.
  562.
  563. [Boss]
  564. - 400 HP, 27 ATP, 0 Eva, 150 Exp, 500 Fol
  565. - Party: Rena, Claude. Maybe try to pincer him with both characters?
  566. - The ogre-type enemies' smack attack uses double ATP.
  567. - [R] On higher difficulty levels, the smack attack can kill Claude in a
  568. single hit. Do learn to avoid it. The regular attack is too fast to avoid,
  569. but he can easily survive that.
  570.

  574. - [R] Try to go upstairs, then try to go to the forest. After some more
  575. talking time, you'll find yourself on the world map.
  576.
  577.
  578. - Camera rotation on the world map is fixed to L1 and R1. You can toggle
  579. the map with Start.
  580. - [R] You'll want to set Claude as the default controlled character during
  581. battle (in the formation menu). Get him some levels to boost his DFP. (The
  582. controlled character is actually set to the position, not the character.)
  583. - [C] Rena will need some levels, although no amount of levels will ever
  584. allow her to survive for long if and when targeted.
  585. - Although Claude swings his sword horizontally, it doesn't really have
  586. any horizontal range. It's got some reach, though, so if the enemy lines
  587. up neatly, then, yeah, you can hit multiple enemies, but, otherwise, no.

  634. try to decline, but she won't take no for an answer). She's one of the
  635. two offensive mages in the game. However, you'll likely find her to be
  636. of more use in Item Creation and possibly stealing. At the end of Cross
  637. Cave, you'll need to decide whether to keep her in your party or not. If
  638. you're not planning on keeping her, make sure you get the most out of her
  639. brief stay. Max out her Playfulness (see below), craft some accessories
  640. (Silver Rings, Emerald Rings), and create some minerals for elemental
  641. resistance.
  642. - Celine's default spells: Firebolt, Wind Blade, Thunderbolt.
  643. - Talents Celine can easily learn (if she doesn't start with them):
  644. Originality, Dexterity, Design Sense, Sense of Rhythm, Sense of Pitch
  645. and Sixth Sense.
  646. - Grinding for Talents will likely feel less tedious if you have something
  647. playing in the background (HoloLive, perhaps?).
  648. - [C] You could now get a unique accessory called Leaf Pendant by doing
  649. a couple of PAs in Salva. It increases DFP by 30%, which is nice, but it
  650. can only be equipped by mages, so I wouldn't bother. You might be more

  652. - [C] There's a PA in Arlia with Celine that also gives you +3 RP.

  656.
  657. - Head to the harbor town of Herlie, at the east end of the continent.
  658. You'll pass by the town of Mars on your way. Near Mars is Cross Cave,
  659. your next main story destination.
  660. - Some people like to level up in the Lasguss Mountains (west of Cross)
  661. at this point in the game, but I really wouldn't recommend that. There's
  662. just no need.
  663. - If you run into a Robber Axe, run away.
  664. - Don't forget: block rate = (Eva - Accuracy)/255. You can always avoid
  665. blocks by hitting the enemy from behind. Increasing your Dex will boost
  666. your base Accuracy, but any intended Accy bonus from gear is moot thanks

  687. - Combat Lv1: Spirit Force, Below the Belt, Strong Blow, Cancel, [Trance].
  688.
  689. - Perseverance costs only 8 SP per level and decreases the SP cost of all
  690. skills by 2 points per level. Doryoku in SO1 was a worthwhile investment
  691. in the long run, but this one offers an even greater benefit, and faster.
  692. - Raising Playfulness gives you money (a total of 100 000 Fol from the
  693. 10 levels).
  694. - The Bandit's Gloves are required to use the Pickpocket skill, which
  695. allows you to steal items from any characters you can talk to (including
  696. your own party members). Doing so has a small chance of lowering FP,
  697. however (no, stealing during PAs doesn't help). It can even affect PCs
  698. that haven't joined you yet.
  699. - You only get one attempt at stealing per character (if a character
  700. appears in more than one location, that's considered a different instance).
  701. If you were to aim at zero failures, you'd have to spend quite a bit of
  702. time loading the game and retrying. However, the *overwhelming* majority
  703. of items obtained through stealing are of little to no consequence and
  704. can be obtained more easily some other way. As such, I do *not* recommend
  705. wasting much of your time using the skill. I'll make note of the few
  706. items I do consider worth picking up.
  707. - Unless the character has the Dexterity Talent, Pickpocket will never
  708. succeed. You can learn it through Metalwork, but only Celine has that at
  709. this point in the game. Other characters won't be able to learn it until
  710. you reach the next continent (after Heraldry Forest).
  711. - There are two ways to easily get the money for the Bandit's Gloves:
  712. 1. Increase Playfulness
  713. 2. Create Silver Charms (10k) and Silver Earrings (7,5k) with Celine.

  753. don't hesitate to just let it go. If you're determined to get it, get

  891. take the ship to the Lacour continent to get the remaining skill sets as

  945. - I mostly control Precis until I get Chisato. If I get Bowman instead
  946. (which I generally don't), I'll just stick to Claude.
  947. - Bowman isn't available until after the events in Lacour. You can
  948. explore Linga Sanctuary right away, though, if you feel like it.
  949. - Get Precis's Machinery to Lv6 or so, so you can create an Iron Punch.
  950. Use it to create a Great Punch (Lv5 Customize is enough). Whether or not
  951. you got Precis, you'll want to use Machinery to create IC support items.
  952. Seeing as the kits are a bit pricey, I'd give it 5 tries before reloading
  953. (unless you're missing only a few items).
  954. - If you want more money, this is the stuff that's worth the most:
  955. Erlenmeyer Flask, Element Analyzer, Graphic Software, RIRICA, Survival
  956. Kit (for some reason, the Magician's Hand is considered less valuable
  957. than the Bandit's Gloves)
  958. - Note that the IC menu wraps, so to get to Machinery, you only have to
  959. press up.
  960. - If you're planning on getting Opera as well, there's no need to try
  961. and create all of the support items right away.
  962. - You can also start making affinity books now, if you have any use for
  963. those. Don't forget that the effect applies in one direction only. Eg.
  964. using Claude's RP book on Precis sets Precis' RP towards Claude to 8,
  965. while Claude's RP towards Precis is unaffected. This is just an example,
  966. by the way. Precis already starts with 8 RP towards Claude. If the value

  1269. - 10 000 HP, 80 Eva, 333 ATP, W:TL, I:V, 12 600 Exp, 21 000 Fol
1270. - Normally I would advise you to run away from the slug-type enemies, but
1271. since this is a boss, you don't have that option. The reason I would tell
1272. you to avoid these enemies should quickly become apparent. Any character
1273. that gets close to them is very likely to end up eaten and thus incapacitated.
1274. If all characters get eaten, it's game over. Each slug can only hold one
1275. character at a time. They'll spit out the character if attacked. Since you
1276. likely have a party of 4 characters, you don't really have to worry about
  1277. this one.

1303. - [R] Since there's no way to keep Leon in your party, you should max
1304. out his Playfulness before he leaves after the next dungeon.
1305. - Link Combo has been brutally nerfed. It requires an accessory slot,
1306. only allows you to link two moves, doesn't let you set one move more
1307. than once, and, last but not least, requires that you prevent another
1308. character from using waza. It's not really that big a deal seeing as

1628. - Mirage Robe (RM): Rena
1629. - Duel Helm (Dam): Claude, Ashton, Bowman, Ernest, Dias
1630. - Pallas Athena (Mit): Claude, Precis, Ernest, Dias
1631. - With these, you can finally let go of the Check accessories for most
1632. characters. You'll want to replace them with Berserk Rings, Atlas Rings
1633. and Might Chains. Opera and Ashton can't get immunity to Paralysis from
1634. anything other than the accessory, but having one character vulnerable
1635. to it is no big deal. As already mentioned, Bowman gets the short end
1636. of the stick, as he can't equip a single piece of armor that would
1637. protect him from Paralysis or Petrification.
1638. - The Atlas Ring makes you weak to all elements, but this should only

  1665.
1666. - Team Battle involves fighting up to 5 one-on-one battles with up to
1667. 5 different characters. It ends once you've either won or lost 3 matches.
1668. The enemies are fought in random order except for the fifth one. A
1669. single character can be chosen more than once but not in consecutive
1670. battles. If a character chosen more than once falls, they'll be revived
1671. with 1 HP in their next battle. If a character is paralyzed or petrified,
1672. they will not be healed and thus will inevitably lose their subsequent
1673. matches. You can get the prizes 3 times.
