I'd assume exterminators are made more than they are hired but they'd likely have a whole chain of command, really any angel could be giving them their missions.

I think if a small group of sinners (10-20) took on an exterminator, they'd get murdered. I think a sizeable force (30-40) might be able to stall them for a while, but it wouldn't do anything. I think if you're a regular sinner, you're finished.

An Overlord might have the power to damage them, but not outright kill them.

I think a single one could easily wipe out hundreds (200+ if not more) of sinners given enough time.

What about magic?

No reason to assume they don't have supernatural powers of their own. I think it takes a pretty exceptional demon or a really lucky group effort to pose a threat to an exterminator. When you look around during the pilot you see heaps of demon corpses but not a single angel corpse. Evidently they just ran roughshod through the town and saw precious little resistance. Charlie refers to it as "her people being slaughtered year after year" so there's no reason to assume that the angels aren't coming out on top in most conflicts.

They were either built to destroy, or (going into headcanon territory here) are genetically modified Angels (either ones who comitted sins whilst in heaven, or were banished, and as such had armour grafted onto them, and their emotions surgically removed except for hatred).

Alright, they might not have onboard weapons, but it's reasonable to assume they have some means of protection (might be a personal force field that melts bullets that come into contact with it) and they can use any kind of weapon they can loot off of a sinner they kill if their spear expires, or they lose it.

Never actually played Dynasty Warriors outside of a brief demo that came with some other disc so I don't know if this gameplay footage is representative of the game as a whole, but I tend to assume that the annual cleanse of Hell is kind of like what you see here: 90% of the demons don't stand a chance and get stylishly slaughtered to serve as red paint on the angel's armor and then maybe some boss-level demons could actually put a real dent in an exterminator

Completely out of my arse explanation, but I'd kind of like to see Alastor try and pick on a squad of that size, and use voodoo magic, or conjure those tentacles thinking he'd wipe them all out, but due to them being Angelic, and him using Demonic magic, they would just override it, and his powers would do nothing to them, as a result, they'd just mob him.

Eehhhh seems unlikely, unfortunately. He's been dead since what, 1935? He's figured out how to not get murdelized by the murder angels, he knows better than to engage them when he can't win.

I still think his vanity would get the better of him sometimes and lead to him fking up because of overestimating his opponents. He gets pissy with Vox in the comic.

He gets pssy but he just walks off thinking nasty thoughts to himself, knowing that he can't do much about Vox basically giving him the finger. I tend toward the "the nail that sticks out furthest gets hammered down" model of exterminations. The guy who drops down into hell and he's all like

is a lower priority than the guy who gets to hell and he's all like

The second guy is the one the Golden Knights are going to wade through the nastiest muck in hell to find and kill when they get dispatched during a cleanse. Alastor hasn't demonstrated much ambition toward anything but amusing himself.

Can a strong enough angel just kill a sinner or demon royalty permanently with their bare hands? Or would they need a special angelic weapon as well? I'm trying to extend this logic to Luci since he's technically an angel and he feels a lot less threatening as the overlord of hell if he can't just poof the unkillable out of existence with his natural powers alone.

I'd say Lucifer is probably the only one I'd say who could just destroy them with raw power, as he's a fallen angel. Either that, or because he's critical to the function of Hell as a counterpoint to Heaven, Exterminators have orders implanted not to target or attempt to destroy him.

Perhaps taking pictures, using it to navigate, using it as an info gatherer, calling/texting each other, maybe they have other uses too.

I kinda meant the phone thing as a joke. Those masks of theirs presumably have plenty of hardware in them. Heads-up display, navigation, mission black box, etc. If they were literally nothing but some LEDs to have in front of your face like you're at a rave, I'd question what the fk the point would be.

What weapons are they going to use?

They seem to be stuck in the pre-gunpowder era for some reason. The cold open would indicate that the spear is the standard armament for the rank and file exterminators. For the chad exterminators we're autisming into existence here, so far we got

Just put "Forged in Fire" on autoplay and pick anything neat that they happen to make. These are angels, unfettered by time and distance, they can have any kind of pointed or edged weapon they want, from any era.

The Golden Knights are selected through luck and attrition. Exterminations are a cake-walk for the most part until some luckless group of murderangels stumbles upon a demon who's more than just some asshole who turned into an asshole furry when he died, at which point people start getting wrecked in droves. The Golden Knights are made up of worthless cannon fodder exterminators who elevated themselves by being the only ones to survive the slaughter when Alastor first manifested and realized that he had a portal to the murder-tentacles-and-jazz-ghosts dimension on speed dial, the ones who made it through that unfortunate incident when Vox first arrived in Hell and started exploiting previously unseen weaknesses in all forms of electronics, including the ones in the exterminator masks, as he built his empire.

How could we use color to make a scene have more of a vibe to it?

Dull colors for most everything, including the demons and the blood being spilled. The only thing that stands out are the various colors of the expressions displayed on the exterminator's LED masks.

>Gore's mask is shining agonizingly harsh red light on everything around her, drowning out all other colors. Her mask flickers in time with her deranged laughter laughter, displaying no discernible expression, only a meaningless, garbled mess of flashing crimson lights
>String's mask shines bright yellow in the vacuous space surrounding her sniper's perch, displaying progress bars, calculation sequences, and other such things as she picks out her targets and draws her bow, then briefly displaying a crosshair as she looses her arrow. The mask displays a cheerful green checkmark accompanied by a brief bite of trumpet fanfare for a hit and a blobby red X for a miss followed by a gameshow-esque "wrong answer" type noise.
