the history of dreamcast // everything about the level

hello guys, this is a thing that i wanted to share in a while,, but i wasn't sure if i wanted to talk about it other than my friends, so in this document, i will tell the history of dreamcast and why i made it, and also everything about the level

i'm sorry if there is anything wrong, english is not my native language and i usually don't type long english texts

so let's get into it;

// the unfortunate news //

so, as you guys may know i have a level named "come along with me", which was released 8 months ago, some weeks after i was thinking about making a come along with me sequel in the same style, and same type of song, but it didnt came out very well so i decided to give up and leave the level as it is, and i focused on other stuff.

a few days later, (26/07/2021).. i heard the worst thing and the thing that i didn't want to ever hear, so, my grandma.... passed away and i didn't even know what i was going to be after that, it's the worst thing that ive ever felt in my life and i had so many things on my head, while crying for a long time.

thankfully my parents made me and my dad feel a bit better, but i will never forget about it.

// a miracle of a song //

on august, i was on spotify finding something to listen to, i really like types of songs like lofi vaporwave and etc, i found a mix and inside of it, it had a gold of a song.

the name of it was ''beach walk'', made by WhiteWoods, i listened to the entire song, and i cried once again, the song had a feeling that i couldn't describe how different and hard it hits on me after the news, the song changed it for sure

days later, i opened geometry dash and i was thinking what i should do or build in the editor, i remembered about come along with me and, i also remembered about the old sequel i was making for the level

after and i figured out that THANKFULLY beach walk was on newgrounds, i had a big idea.

using beach walk and it is going to be the same rainbow style as come along with me

the level itself was a tribute for my grandma and for the greatest moments i had with her. so i started it.

// the true beggining //

august 30, 2021

the layout of the level was finally finished, it came out very good, at least for me, i was a mobile player so it took a while to build, i uploaded it on twitter and it got a bit of attention.

i was busy with school and other geometry dash projects so i barely had time to decorate the level, but...

september 28, 2021

i finally started decorating the level, the first part at least, it was completely different from the actual level, it even had a vaporave sun and mountains but it seemed really off, so i tried again.

3 days after i finished the first part, (the ship) and it actually was pretty great, but i was thinking ''god 3 days to decorate a single part'' and i thought it was going to take way too long, but after i said ''who cares right?'' i DONT care how many time it will took it's a tribute, my only project and tribute that i really want to dedicate myself into it no matter what

and with that and my friends support, it was possible

october 7, 2021

almost half of the level were finished and i uploaded the first preview of the decorated level on youtube, i still didn't give up because it was really good for now.

december 16, 2021

63% of the level was finished, 3 parts remaining, 4 months in, and the level was quite close to its finish

january 30, 2022

85% of the level finished, one part remaining, 5 months in, literally the final stretch, i wasn't believing how much ive spent in a 1 minute level, but i was really glad about how it was.

// delay // >> school was starting and that delayed the progress of the level a bit

and finally.

25 of february, 2022, dreamcast was finally done, everything, 6 months building the level and countless days and hours spent.

you have no idea what is the feeling of finishing something after so long, no matter what is it, so that is the biggest project i have done, and it was finally on the servers.

and i finally had the opportunity to write the description.

"it's not the same without her, kachigaru."

that description is, something that i wanted to write since the early days of decorating the level, which i was talking about my grandma, every single moment i had with her, i will not forget about any of them.

and if you look at the end of the level, and the last ship/straight fly, you may look at a small text saying "obrigado por tudo, vó" which means: thank you for everything, grandma.

the main goal is not it getting rated, and yes, finishing the level.

// other stuff // >> why the name "dreamcast?"

my mom owns a sega dreamcast, the last videogame that sega has ever made, it still works to this day, but back then, my mom always let me use her dreamcast to play games, i had a lot of fun with it,

after, my sister gave me her ps2 and she let me play on it when i wanted to, because she got an laptop.

the last name of the level was ''the flowers are here'', then ''flowers'', then the final name, ''dreamcast''.

so, yeah that is everything, that could not be possible without my friends, they supported and inspired me, along with lexy, with her amazing levels, it gave me a really big inspiration and do mostly everything in the level, i just want to say.. thank you all so much i just couldn't be the same without you all, even if it is just an level in a 2d platform game
