Chapter 3: Dyed

It’s another day, another morning. Britney already woke from her last night recharge. Ready to serve her master today. She got an order to wake his master at 5 am. So before that time comes, she already does her job. Mostly making breakfast for her master. She knows her master really likes toast and coffee. I mean, who doesn’t? She also didn’t forget to make her owner’s lunch. She does all of them enthusiastically. Smile covers her face. No bad thoughts. Everything went smoothly. She did all of that and looked at the time. It's almost 5 am. She immediately walks to her master bedroom to wake him up. Slowly open the door so she doesn’t accidentally shock him.

“Wake up, master. It’s time to work.” Said Britney softly. But her master didn’t wake up. She tried again but it was still the same. She repeats it five times but her owner doesn’t want to wake up. She tries another method. She shakes her owner until he wakes up. But don’t worry, she is doing it slowly. And it’s work! He’s awake but still sleepy. He started to sit but didn’t do anything. Still tired from his sleep. Britney is next to him. Waiting for her owner to be ready. Her owner just sat there, trying to pull all his consciousness. He looked at the time and it showed 4.57 am. He looked at the calendar and suddenly realized something. Today's schedule is different than usual. He must be at the place where he works at 5.15 am. He already marked it but completely forgot it was today. He immediately jumped from his bed and rushed to his bathroom. Britney’s confused about what is happening. She doesn't know her master has a different schedule today. Her master didn’t tell anything about it. But she felt a bit guilty. So she tries her best to help her master. She stands right in front of the bathroom. In case her master needs something. And yes, her master yells at her.

“BRITNEY! WHERE’S THE TOWEL?!” Logan yelled from inside the bathroom. Britney’s a bit panicked. She forgot to put a towel in the bathroom. She runs around just to find a towel. And good for her, she found it. Immediately run to the bathroom. She arrives and knocks on the door to tell that she found the towel. But her owner said to close her eyes when he opened the door. So she does what her owner says. She covers her both eyes with her hand. Then, her owner opens the door and immediately grabs the towel from Britney’s hand. She opened her eyes again and went straight to the kitchen. She waits for her master to come to eat breakfast. Few minutes later, her owner came to the kitchen. Ate the toast and drink the coffee. But Britney says the coffee is still hot. He still drinks it anyway. Regrets what he’s doing, but still continues it because he’s almost late to work. His mouth is burned from the heat of the coffee. No time left, he put on his coat and walked to his car. Before he left, he told Britney to keep the house clean and also buy groceries at super markets. He already gave her money and the groceries list. Britney understands the assignment. And her owner just went to his car. But Britney remembered, he hadn't taken his lunch yet. She goes back to the kitchen as fast as possible to grab her owner's lunch. She ran back again to the front door just to give the lunch to her owner.

“Sir! You forgot your.. *car leaving* ..lunch.” Britney tries to give the lunch but her owner already leaves. She was late to give him lunch. But she tries to find a way to deliver her owner’s lunch. She saw a bus that led to her owner's workplace. She already knows where her owner's workplace is. But before she did that, she brought her groceries list and money. Just after she delivers the lunch, she can go to the markets afterward. And there she goes. With no hesitation, she goes inside the bus. Along the way to her destination, she waited while seeing how beautiful the town was. She never saw things like that. Outside world is just new for her. She was happy to see it. After a 45 minutes of bus trip, she finally arrived. She got off the bus and of course she didn’t forget to pay the driver. She for the first time saw her owner's workplace. She had never seen such a tall building. And she goes inside the building. She saw so many people there. She asked one of the staff where Mr. Logan Morin's office was. The person she asked said it’s on floor 11. Britney thanks that person and she heads to lift, on her way to her owner’s office room. She entered the lift and pressed the number 11. And a lot of people suddenly entered the lift. She doesn't know there will be this many people on a single lift. But it’s not really bother her. No need to wait long, she arrived on floor 11. But she kinda stuck in there because it's a bit crowded in the lift. But she managed to get out. She looks from a distance and can’t find him. She asked one of the staff again.

“Excuse me. Sorry to bother you, sir. Did you know where Mr. Logan Morin's office room was? I keep looking and still can’t find him. Mind if you help me, sir? Ask Britney to that staff.

“Oh! Are you looking for him? I can help. Just wait here okay, I will go find him.” The staff answers Britney. Britney waited patiently until that person came back with her owner. A few minutes later, the person came back. He’s apologizing because her owner is still in a meeting. But he said her owner will be done anytime soon. Britney’s okay with that. She will wait a bit longer. Few minutes later, her owner was done with his meeting. And she saw him. She walks toward him to give him lunch. And Logan saw Britney coming toward him. Logan doesn’t know Britney will come to the office. He also didn’t know what she was doing here. To avoid any awkward conversation, he approached her.

“What are you doing here? You’re supposed to be at home.” Logan asks her madly but he lowers his voice to avoid any gossip by other staff.

“I brought your lunch, sir. You forgot to bring it with you, so I came a long way here.” Britney answers.

“Ugh… give me that! And get back home. I don’t want to see you here, you understand.” Said Logan as he walks away from Britney. Britney just nodded her head and on her way to leave the office. Knowing that she already brought her groceries list, she will go straight to the supermarket. Lucky for her, the supermarket was pretty close to her owner's office building. So she decided to take a walk to the supermarket. Only 5 minutes of walk, she finally arrives at the supermarket. It’s also her first time to go inside a supermarket. But she knows what she should do. She picks the trolley, opens the list, and starts to pick all the stuff in the list. It takes a bit of time to gather all the stuff, but she gets the job done. Just a little problem with the queue. The queue was pretty long. She may take more time to finish her shopping. After 30 minutes, she finally got into the cashier. Take out all the stuff from the trolley and pay them all. She can go home right now. Of course, she would take a bus. Arriving at home, she put all the groceries into the kitchen. And start cleaning the house as usual. One hour passed and she was already done with her work. She lay on the sofa and waited for her owner to come back. While on the sofa, she thinks about something. She’s thinking about her owner’s hair. She wonders why there’s a white stripe on his hair. She never learned about that. She thinks it must be innate genetics from his parents. And she got an idea. She wants to dye her hair like her owner to match with him. She jumps from the sofa, goes to the bathroom, and searches for something she needs. After a few minutes of searching, she still didn’t find it. Then she went outside to find a nearby beauty shop. And she found one. Immediately take the money change from previous shopping and run to that place. Got the white dye and she ran back to the house. She goes to the bathroom and reads all the instructions.

“Okay. So… Here it says I need to apply it on the part that I choose. Apply it using a brush. Wait for ten minutes to make the color attached perfectly. After that, wash it with running water. Dry it out and you’re done. Huh.. seems like an easy task to me. Alright then.” She reads all the instructions and follows what it says. She does it one by one as it says in the instruction. After she applied the dye, she needed to wait for ten minutes. She just sits right there, in the bathroom. Didn’t do anything. Just a stare into the void. Well after ten minutes, she washed it. And she dried it with a towel first and then with a hairdryer. She closed her eyes before seeing the result. And she slowly opened her eyes. She was surprised with the result.

“Oh. My. Gosh. I look so beautiful. *excited screams* I just look like him. I hope he noticed it. EEEEE.. can’t wait to see his reaction.” Britney was very happy with her new hair. Well, even only a small change but she still likes it. And now she waits for her owner to come back home. She sat back on the sofa, waiting. She’s probably gonna watch some tv shows. The clock still shows that it’s still 9 am. And her owner came back at 4 pm. She still needs to wait for 7 more hours. She decides not to do anything until her owner is back. Because she already does all the chores. She had nothing to do. She just lies on the sofa and stares at the ceiling. And she did it for literally 7 hours. She gets up from the sofa and checks the time. And her owner should be at home anytime. She was so excited. She was waiting at the door and welcomed him with a big smile. Her owner’s car is already inside the front yard. And Britney notices him walking to the door. She opened the door for him.

“Welcome back, sir. How was your work? You must be exhausted, right? But, you see a difference in me? Britney asks her owner while pointing at her hair.

“No. You just look the same as the first time you came here.” Logan answers tiredly.

“B-but sir..”

“Shut up! I don’t want to hear anything from you. I’m very tired, okay! I just want to sleep right now.” Logan is a bit mad at Britney. Britney should know this is gonna happen. But she got too excited to show her new hair. She felt a bit sad that her owner didn’t notice it. Despite all of that, she still needs to prepare for tonight's dinner. She needs to wait a bit longer before starting to make dinner. A few hours pass, and her owner wakes from his sleep. Britney’s almost done with the cooking and her owner already sits on the dining table. No need to wait longer, she was done with her cooking. She serves it to her owner. And immediately leave the dining table because her owner doesn’t like to be waited on. She sat on the sofa. Wait there with a feeling of disappointment. Don’t even know her owner will do such a thing like that. But she has to stay strong, no matter how the situation is. Finally, her owner was done with his dinner. And she goes back to wash all the dirty dishes. After that, she went back to her room. Find her diary and start writing.

“Dear diary, today is a bit rough for me. Mr. Morin forgot his lunch box and I need to deliver it. But along the way, I saw how beautiful the town is. Wish I could get out more often. I do all the chores the same as usual. No problem at all. Just a bit stuck when I go shopping. Oh I remember it very well. The place is very crowded. But it was worth waiting just to buy all of the groceries for Mr. Morin. I also stared at the ceiling for 7 hours. I actually don’t have other things to do to wait for Mr. Morin to get back home. Well today I dyed my hair, but not that much. Just replicate Mr. Logan’s hair. Just a bit white stripe. And yea.. he didn’t notice it. I just want to be the same as him. But I guess he just doesn't care about it. But that’s okay. Feeling a bit sad but it’s okay. No hard feelings. Well that’s today, I hope I can have a better day next time.”

She finished writing her diary. Put the pen and the book back in the drawer. And she goes to her charge seat and recharges her battery for the next day.
