- Labyrinth FAQ
- ===========================================
- Q: Why wont the elevator allow me to revisit some levels?
- A: Once you've killed the level Boss and left the level, you can not return. This is for 2 reasons - first, there's not much of value(fun) to do there anymore. Second is a technical limitation - with a nearly unlimited number of randomly generated levels, the game engine would need to remember the state of every level which isn't feasible.
- Q: Labyrinth is too hard!
- A: Some tips for successful dungeoneering:
- - Focus early on Dexterity (Attack) and/or Charisma (Charming).
- - Players can always heal to full HP and MP in the town temple for free.
- - The elevator can travel to any level you want, except levels where you've already killed the boss.
- Q: Labyrinth is too easy!
- A: Players are free to travel to any level depth they like. Head down a few levels and see how you fare!
- Q: What are the significant differences between the 5 monster classes?
- A: Each of the 5 classes have specific stat bonuses and debuffs
- HUMAN (STR-, INT+, CHA+)
- UNDEAD (CHA-, STR+, DEX+)
- ANIMAL (INT-, STR+, VIT+)
- DEMON (DEX-, STR+, INT+)
- FAE (VIT-, DEX+, CHA+)
- NOTE: Undead are immune to Charm & Sleep, but take additional damage from attack spells.
- Q: I've noticed that dungeon levels seem have a predominant class of monster present; is that intentional?
- A: Yes, the dungeon is intentionally designed such that each level has a predominant class of monster. Dungeon level 1 is mostly Human, 2 is mostly Undead, 3, is mostly Animal, 4 is mostly Undead, 5 is mostly Fae. The pattern repeats from there (ie, dungeon level 101 is mostly Human)
- Q: How do I read the Item Comparison screen where I must choose between my currently-equipped item, and one I am considering picking up?
- A: The stats are listed for both items. You can never keep both, so you must pick one based on which stats are most valuable to your character at that time. Items left behind are gone forever.
- Q: How do Scrolls/Magic work in Labyrinth?
- A: Scrolls in Labyrinth can be infinitely read & reused, until they randomly disintegrate from use (approx. 15% chance). Each scroll has a MP cost which must be met as well. MP is fully restored in the town temple, or very slowly by walking. Some scrolls can be used outside of combat; use the crank to highlight the scroll and activate it. For example, to activate the Wizard Eye scroll, you'd use the crank to highlight the Wizard Eye scroll, press (A) to activate it. Now, you'll have the full map revealed in the pause screen.
- Q: What is "TNL" on the left side of the display?
- A: It stands for "To Next Level" - indicating how much Experience you need before reaching the next level.
- Q: How does Labyrinth calculate Charm/Trick/Pray success?
- A: In addition to comparing the player level versus the monster level, the calculations are based on:
- - CHARM: Player Charisma vs Monster Intelligence
- - TRICK: Player Intelligence vs Monster Intelligence
- - PRAY: Player Intelligence and Player Charisma
- Q: How does Labyrinth calculate scroll disintegration probability?
- A: Scroll disintegration chance varies slightly by scroll type, but in every case having high Intelligence and high Dexterity will help prevent disintegration. As a counter-balance, scrolls are more likely to disintegrate at deeper dungeon levels.
- Q: Are there any hidden rooms or false walls, etc?
- A: Trust your eyes, and your ears!
- Q: Why wont my scores post to the online scoreboards?
- A: I believe Scoreboards only work for games which are purchased from the Panic/Playdate catalog. If you sideloaded Labyrinth, Scoreboards may not work.
- Q: My name in the global scoreboard is a random string of digits! What's up with that?
- A: If you never set a username for your account on the Playdate site, you are automatically given a random 16-digit number as your username. Visit http://play.date/account/ to get yourself a proper username!
- Thank you for playing!
