anno's veganism

Hideaki Anno's August 1996 interview in JUNE magazine with Nobita Nobi:

"My veganism is the result of the fact that I have no interest in ordinary life, including eating. When I was young my ideal sort of food was what astronauts would take into space. I stopped eating meat at a young age. I wouldn't eat school meals. When I was in my second year of elementary school, a teacher would make me stay behind until I ate my meal. At 8PM the teacher gave up. I would rather have died than eat that meal. Now my body is no longer accustomed to eating meat, and now the taste makes me physically sick."
