The adventures of a secret Agent armed with almost infinite scientific resourcefulness.
Macgyver is an enigmatic loner who often finds himself working for an organization called the Phoenix Foundation, the government, or a friend in need. He encounters all types of dangers and escapes from them not with weapons, but with his ability to create gadgets out of everyday objects. His enemies range from militant drug lords and dictators to racist store owners. No matter what he's up against, Macgyver can always defeat his foes with his cunning and his skill.
I&#39;ve grown up with Macgyver, and since I was a kid I&#39;ve loved it! Now this is one of the rare 1980&#39;s action series, were the hero doesn&#39;t just pick up a gun and start shooting at his enemies. In fact MacGyver never kills at all, and this I found very inspiring as a kid as well as now.<br/><br/>And the fact that he does not always simply knock out the bad guys with his fists, he use his brain and ingenuity. Truly &quot;His mind is the ultimate weapon&quot;. And the fact that all of his &quot;inventions&quot; work in real life (although I wouldn&#39;t recommend trying some of them) just makes the show even more incredible and also to some extend: educational.<br/><br/>In many ways Richard Dean Anderson created the persona for MacGyver and I think that most would agree with me, that if any other actor were to portray him, it just wouldn&#39;t be MacGyver at all.<br/><br/>Now MacGyver is the kind of hero that no one can hate, and that we all should look up to. The show is both very entertaining and morally inspiring. This is and will always be my favourite TV series.
Were they kidding???? Was 80s television just so perfect that they had to add such a horrible hour long show? Must&#39;ve been. About 80 percent of MacGyver&#39;s &quot;scientific ingenuity&quot; was total BS. Anyone who took high school science knows it. Like when he uses a chewing gum wrapper to replace a blown fuse, smart idea until the circuit overloads again and the wiring combusts. Or when he dips his jacket in PCP and ignites it later, blowing up a munitions depot, now thats original. Most of the action scenes were so poorly done that it was easy to see the parts that were just videotaped (instead of filmed) in a studio. I could overlook all of that if there was an exciting story or likeable characters, but none are in site. The most ridiculous was Richard Dean Anderson (and his character&#39;s) vicious disdain for guns (Anderson himself is a gun control activist) but then why is he preaching to us and then blowing up everything he can reach with a tank of gasoline??
