One of the two knights charged at Morholt and struck him so hard on his shield that he shattered his lance, but he did no other harm. Morholt, who was physically powerful and angry and coming fast, struck him with such great force that he knocked him and his horse to the ground, making them fall all in a pile upside down so violently that the knight’s neck was broken in the fall and the horse was wounded in his hind legs. He passed over them and never lost momentum, but addressed himself to
the other knight, striking him so hard that neither shield nor hauberk protected him; rather Morholt drove both point and shaft through his body and knocked him to the ground so severely wounded that he needed no doctor, for he was wounded to death.
