- >You walk up the path, getting a closer look at the "spirits" of the Millennium path
- >Something is definitely wrong here
- >They resemble glowing husks, not as bright as they could be
- >You suspect Sombra has something to do with it
- >Remembering the fact that blood magic was used to get in and curious as to what would happen, you wipe a bit of blood on each one as you pass
- >By the time you reach the end of the path, your fingers have stopped bleeding, and the last drop was used on the thousandth spirit husk
- >Nothing seems to be happening for now, but you stay alert
- >At the end of the path is a simple, wooden door
- >Much like the one leading into your old room from the castle of your last life
- >You open it, and as soon as you do, you start to despair
- >Before you are the streets of the crystal empire, wrought with ruin from another battle
- >Twilight, Cadence, Shining Armor, and even Luna are on the ground, beyond defeated
- >They look lifeless
- >A voice echoes through the empty air
- You failed.... You could have saved them; saved her; but you're too weak...
- >No
- >Please, no
- >You run through the streets, towards the only other form lying on the ground
- >But the voice was right
- >You are too weak
- >Chrysalis had joined the others in the death toll
- >Crushing defeat, despair, and even loneliness overflow you, tears streaming from your eyes
- >You finally put together your feelings for that woman (mare?)
- >Even though it's too late now, you still feel the need to say it out loud
- I... Iove you... Chrysalis
- >You choke out, trying to swallow the lump n your throat
- >You hold her limp form close to you, as though it would fill the hole now tearing through your heart
- >So wrought in crushing despair, you feel your body trembling slightly
- >Actually, more like a vibration
- >...
- >That's not your body
- >Slowing down your flow of tears, you pause to identify the feeling
- >It's a warm, vibrating, tingly feeling
- >Originating from your coat
- >And rings
- >And Luna's necklace
- >It's like they're calling for you
- >Calling out your name
- >No, that's not right
- >The memories you have donned are trying to tell you something
- >You look around, trying to figure out what, and notice something odd
- >You thought it was your tears, but you can't see more than thirty of forty feet in front of you
- >Then you realize something else
- >The presence of magic that you've almost always felt around you is strong
- >Far too strong
- >These realizations build up, and you see it falling apart from what it is: a fake world
- >The world drifts off like smoke, revealing a grassy plain around you
- >And Sombra right in your face
- Too late, you fool
- >And just like that, the smoky fake reality is ripped away completely, and a huge force slams into your chest, throwing you far away from the door, tumbling in the field
- >Sombra just laughs
- You saw through it, but you are too late! Soon, I will have all the power of a thousand souls!
- >He laughs maniacally, and you can see that he has indeed trapped these glowing points of light within that black fog
- >When you finally grind to a halt, you realize that you have nothing to fight him with
- >You would use the sword rings, but they fell o-
- >No, there they are
- >Laying side by side in the grass
- >You never noticed before, but they had something inscribed upon them
- >One has a long half heart with "FOR OU" written inside it
- >The other has "R LOVE" written in it's half heart
- >You now realize that these rings belonged to a couple
- >A couple deeply in love
- >You put the two halves together, and they immediately stick together like one ring
- >Confused, you slip it on, Sombra still laughing about how powerful he is becoming
- >As soon as you do, it glows pink
- >A thin pink veil of fog comes in front of your face, and takes from
- >A long forgotten spell placed on the rings activates, and a small voice says
- Love is worth fighting for
- >Then two things happen at once
- >The rings morph into one complete sword, looking just like those seen in legends, with many symbols running around the handle and down the blade, each one of love and devotion
- >The other thing to happen was the pink mist turned into something like a live feed, with a shocked looking Cadence on the other end
- Wha! Anon?! What's going on? You just left a second ago!
- >That's certainly odd, but something else is more important right now
- Later. Where's Chrysalis?
- >A new feeling comes through, like adrenaline, but lacking the energy behind it
- >A brief look crosses her face before your view goes away from her face
- >It's a smile
- >A warm smile
- >The feeling grows stronger when Chrysalis comes into view
- >You now understand what it means, and what you must do
- >You must confess your feelings
- A-Anon? What's going o-
- >Her eyes meet yours, and time seems to stop
- >A million thoughts rush through you at once, all of them too fast to think about
- >You almost lose your speech, but you catch it before it leaves
- Chrysalis. Since that night in the forest... I've been feeling... Different about you...
- >Words are hard
- And I think... no, I know....
- >You look back to her eyes, and see them full of hopeful anticipation, along with a hint of fear
- >The perfect words still elude you, but you find the words to say anyway
- I'm in love with you
- >As soon as you say it, the fear and anticipation vanish from her eyes, replaced with the beginnings of tears of happiness
- >And the rest of the words come to you
- >And you don't even question them
- Will you marry me?
- >The vision gets stronger, and the feeling of empty energy changes into an overpoweringly powerful energy, fueled by your love
- >Chrysalis sheds a small tear, which is quickly wiped away
- Yes!
- >It's almost a whisper, but you hear it
- >And it gives you the strength
- >The strength to rise to your feet
- >The strength to face an evil man (pony?) with the power of one thousand souls behind him
- >Because no matter what, you would return
- >Return to her
- I'm coming
- >You say aloud, and the connection fades away
- >But now you're standing tall
- Sombra!
- >You bellow, walking forward towards him and the door
- >He looks shocked for a moment, but then his eyes light up with a murderous delight
- Come to die, hmm?
- >You shake your head
- It is you who will be destroyed
- >He laughs again (he does it a lot) and charges at you
- >With your newfound power and determination, you lunge forward with your sword, cutting right through the impact
- >You hear him wail in pain, but he doesn't stop trying to kill you
- >And neither do you
- >Sombra's new form from the energy he'd amassed had consolidated him into one body, that controlled the vast amounts of magic present here
- >You charge through all the attacks
- >By your side, you can feel the presence of Chrysalis, as though she's right next to you
- >A link forged through the rings, no doubt
- >When you finally reach the old king, fear is visible on his face
- >For an instant, you hesitate
- Fool!
- >That instant was enough
- >Enough for him to make the earth beneath you take shape into a spike
- >And impale you
- >You cough up blood, and feel energy slipping away
- >Sombra slowly walks towards you, gloating in his achievement
- I think it is you who will die today, foolish mortal
- >You can barely hear him over your own screams of agony
- It's too bad you won't live to see me destroy your precious friends....
- >He looks you dead in the eye when he says this, knowing that there is more than a friend on the line
- >Then he comes up right in your face, and whispers in your ear
- And I will take great pleasure in killing her
- >That did it
- >You were already angry at this creature from his threats
- >But what he just promised to do sends you over the edge
- >Something in you snaps, and the pain goes away
- No
- >Your arm twitches, your grip on the sword tightening
- NEVER!!
- >The energy you had from before comes back tenfold, along with the raw power of your will
- >With one hand, you shatter the rocky spike
- >With the other, you ram the sword into Sombra, using the blunt end
- >A more than satisfying crunch is heard, and you can feel bones breaking
- >He tries to hit back, but with a thought, you send it into the ground, causing a small earthquake
- >The spirits of the path start to escape, and each one thanks you as it passes, telling you that your blood held the last of them back from being completely absorbed
- >You nod to each one, taking another swing at Sombra for each one
- >When the last one leaves the area, he is now a broken heap, more of a spirit than a physical body
- >You go in for the final blow, bringing in all the power you have, but stop at the last second
- >He looks up at you in complete fear, the exact opposite of how he was with so much power
- >And right then you know what to do with him
- >You let the sword transform back into a double ring, and lift him by the scruff of his neck, carrying him out the door and down the path
- >You bust through the other side, trailing blood behind you, much to the surprise of the others
- >Sombra increases his vain struggles as he realizes what you're doing
- >But you don't let up
- >You leap into the river, and instead of bending it around you, add it to your strength
- >With all your amassed power combined, you slam your fist into him
- >The power of the Lethe rushes through his soul faster than a bullet, and harder than the impact of a freight train
- >You channel it through him, doing more than just wiping away memories
- >You wipe away his identity, turning his soul into a fresh, new one waiting to be filled with knowledge and life
- >When everything is gone, you step over the rapids, onto the shore and call out
- HE IS READY TO BEGIN AGAIN! TAKE HIM
- >You shout confidently, holding the fresh soul in the air
- >Who should come to greet you than fate herself
- >You look her in the eyes and say
- Take him
- >She nods, and gently lifts the soul from your hands
- >Before she leaves again, she speaks
- You have changed his destiny. But it may just be for the better
- >And then, as quickly as she came, she leaves
- >Once that happens, you turn and look at your little group, each shocked
- Let's get back home, shall we?
- >Is the last thing you manage to say
- >All your energy rushes out of you, and the injuries you've sustained catch up to you
- >You drop to the ground, past exhausted
- >Your vision goes swirly and black, and the last thing you have memory of is Chrysalis running to your side, picking you up off the floor
