  1. >You walk up the path, getting a closer look at the "spirits" of the Millennium path
  2. >Something is definitely wrong here
  3. >They resemble glowing husks, not as bright as they could be
  4. >You suspect Sombra has something to do with it
  5. >Remembering the fact that blood magic was used to get in and curious as to what would happen, you wipe a bit of blood on each one as you pass
  6. >By the time you reach the end of the path, your fingers have stopped bleeding, and the last drop was used on the thousandth spirit husk
  7. >Nothing seems to be happening for now, but you stay alert
  8. >At the end of the path is a simple, wooden door
  9. >Much like the one leading into your old room from the castle of your last life
  10. >You open it, and as soon as you do, you start to despair
  11. >Before you are the streets of the crystal empire, wrought with ruin from another battle
  12. >Twilight, Cadence, Shining Armor, and even Luna are on the ground, beyond defeated
  13. >They look lifeless
  14. >A voice echoes through the empty air
  15. You failed.... You could have saved them; saved her; but you're too weak...
  16. >No
  17. >Please, no
  18. >You run through the streets, towards the only other form lying on the ground
  19. >But the voice was right
  20. >You are too weak
  21. >Chrysalis had joined the others in the death toll
  22. >Crushing defeat, despair, and even loneliness overflow you, tears streaming from your eyes
  23. >You finally put together your feelings for that woman (mare?)
  24. >Even though it's too late now, you still feel the need to say it out loud
  25. I... Iove you... Chrysalis
  26. >You choke out, trying to swallow the lump n your throat
  27. >You hold her limp form close to you, as though it would fill the hole now tearing through your heart
  28. >So wrought in crushing despair, you feel your body trembling slightly
  29. >Actually, more like a vibration
  30. >...
  31. >That's not your body
  32. >Slowing down your flow of tears, you pause to identify the feeling
  33. >It's a warm, vibrating, tingly feeling
  34. >Originating from your coat
  35. >And rings
  36. >And Luna's necklace
  37. >It's like they're calling for you
  38. >Calling out your name
  39. >No, that's not right
  40. >The memories you have donned are trying to tell you something
  41. >You look around, trying to figure out what, and notice something odd
  42. >You thought it was your tears, but you can't see more than thirty of forty feet in front of you
  43. >Then you realize something else
  44. >The presence of magic that you've almost always felt around you is strong
  45. >Far too strong
  46. >These realizations build up, and you see it falling apart from what it is: a fake world
  47. >The world drifts off like smoke, revealing a grassy plain around you
  48. >And Sombra right in your face
  49. Too late, you fool
  50. >And just like that, the smoky fake reality is ripped away completely, and a huge force slams into your chest, throwing you far away from the door, tumbling in the field
  51. >Sombra just laughs
  52. You saw through it, but you are too late! Soon, I will have all the power of a thousand souls!
  53. >He laughs maniacally, and you can see that he has indeed trapped these glowing points of light within that black fog
  54. >When you finally grind to a halt, you realize that you have nothing to fight him with
  55. >You would use the sword rings, but they fell o-
  56. >No, there they are
  57. >Laying side by side in the grass
  58. >You never noticed before, but they had something inscribed upon them
  59. >One has a long half heart with "FOR OU" written inside it
  60. >The other has "R LOVE" written in it's half heart
  61. >You now realize that these rings belonged to a couple
  62. >A couple deeply in love
  63. >You put the two halves together, and they immediately stick together like one ring
  64. >Confused, you slip it on, Sombra still laughing about how powerful he is becoming
  65. >As soon as you do, it glows pink
  66. >A thin pink veil of fog comes in front of your face, and takes from
  67. >A long forgotten spell placed on the rings activates, and a small voice says
  68. Love is worth fighting for
  69. >Then two things happen at once
  70. >The rings morph into one complete sword, looking just like those seen in legends, with many symbols running around the handle and down the blade, each one of love and devotion
  71. >The other thing to happen was the pink mist turned into something like a live feed, with a shocked looking Cadence on the other end
  72. Wha! Anon?! What's going on? You just left a second ago!
  73. >That's certainly odd, but something else is more important right now
  74. Later. Where's Chrysalis?
  75. >A new feeling comes through, like adrenaline, but lacking the energy behind it
  76. >A brief look crosses her face before your view goes away from her face
  77. >It's a smile
  78. >A warm smile
  79. >The feeling grows stronger when Chrysalis comes into view
  80. >You now understand what it means, and what you must do
  81. >You must confess your feelings
  82. A-Anon? What's going o-
  83. >Her eyes meet yours, and time seems to stop
  84. >A million thoughts rush through you at once, all of them too fast to think about
  85. >You almost lose your speech, but you catch it before it leaves
  86. Chrysalis. Since that night in the forest... I've been feeling... Different about you...
  87. >Words are hard
  88. And I think... no, I know....
  89. >You look back to her eyes, and see them full of hopeful anticipation, along with a hint of fear
  90. >The perfect words still elude you, but you find the words to say anyway
  91. I'm in love with you
  92. >As soon as you say it, the fear and anticipation vanish from her eyes, replaced with the beginnings of tears of happiness
  93. >And the rest of the words come to you
  94. >And you don't even question them
  95. Will you marry me?
  96. >The vision gets stronger, and the feeling of empty energy changes into an overpoweringly powerful energy, fueled by your love
  97. >Chrysalis sheds a small tear, which is quickly wiped away
  98. Yes!
  99. >It's almost a whisper, but you hear it
  100. >And it gives you the strength
  101. >The strength to rise to your feet
  102. >The strength to face an evil man (pony?) with the power of one thousand souls behind him
  103. >Because no matter what, you would return
  104. >Return to her
  105. I'm coming
  106. >You say aloud, and the connection fades away
  107. >But now you're standing tall
  108. Sombra!
  109. >You bellow, walking forward towards him and the door
  110. >He looks shocked for a moment, but then his eyes light up with a murderous delight
  111. Come to die, hmm?
  112. >You shake your head
  113. It is you who will be destroyed
  114. >He laughs again (he does it a lot) and charges at you
  115. >With your newfound power and determination, you lunge forward with your sword, cutting right through the impact
  116. >You hear him wail in pain, but he doesn't stop trying to kill you
  117. >And neither do you
  118. >Sombra's new form from the energy he'd amassed had consolidated him into one body, that controlled the vast amounts of magic present here
  119. >You charge through all the attacks
  120. >By your side, you can feel the presence of Chrysalis, as though she's right next to you
  121. >A link forged through the rings, no doubt
  122. >When you finally reach the old king, fear is visible on his face
  123. >For an instant, you hesitate
  124. Fool!
  125. >That instant was enough
  126. >Enough for him to make the earth beneath you take shape into a spike
  127. >And impale you
  128. >You cough up blood, and feel energy slipping away
  129. >Sombra slowly walks towards you, gloating in his achievement
  130. I think it is you who will die today, foolish mortal
  131. >You can barely hear him over your own screams of agony
  132. It's too bad you won't live to see me destroy your precious friends....
  133. >He looks you dead in the eye when he says this, knowing that there is more than a friend on the line
  134. >Then he comes up right in your face, and whispers in your ear
  135. And I will take great pleasure in killing her
  136. >That did it
  137. >You were already angry at this creature from his threats
  138. >But what he just promised to do sends you over the edge
  139. >Something in you snaps, and the pain goes away
  140. No
  141. >Your arm twitches, your grip on the sword tightening
  142. NEVER!!
  143. >The energy you had from before comes back tenfold, along with the raw power of your will
  144. >With one hand, you shatter the rocky spike
  145. >With the other, you ram the sword into Sombra, using the blunt end
  146. >A more than satisfying crunch is heard, and you can feel bones breaking
  147. >He tries to hit back, but with a thought, you send it into the ground, causing a small earthquake
  148. >The spirits of the path start to escape, and each one thanks you as it passes, telling you that your blood held the last of them back from being completely absorbed
  149. >You nod to each one, taking another swing at Sombra for each one
  150. >When the last one leaves the area, he is now a broken heap, more of a spirit than a physical body
  151. >You go in for the final blow, bringing in all the power you have, but stop at the last second
  152. >He looks up at you in complete fear, the exact opposite of how he was with so much power
  153. >And right then you know what to do with him
  154. >You let the sword transform back into a double ring, and lift him by the scruff of his neck, carrying him out the door and down the path
  155. >You bust through the other side, trailing blood behind you, much to the surprise of the others
  156. >Sombra increases his vain struggles as he realizes what you're doing
  157. >But you don't let up
  158. >You leap into the river, and instead of bending it around you, add it to your strength
  159. >With all your amassed power combined, you slam your fist into him
  160. >The power of the Lethe rushes through his soul faster than a bullet, and harder than the impact of a freight train
  161. >You channel it through him, doing more than just wiping away memories
  162. >You wipe away his identity, turning his soul into a fresh, new one waiting to be filled with knowledge and life
  163. >When everything is gone, you step over the rapids, onto the shore and call out
  164. HE IS READY TO BEGIN AGAIN! TAKE HIM
  165. >You shout confidently, holding the fresh soul in the air
  166. >Who should come to greet you than fate herself
  167. >You look her in the eyes and say
  168. Take him
  169. >She nods, and gently lifts the soul from your hands
  170. >Before she leaves again, she speaks
  171. You have changed his destiny. But it may just be for the better
  172. >And then, as quickly as she came, she leaves
  173. >Once that happens, you turn and look at your little group, each shocked
  174. Let's get back home, shall we?
  175. >Is the last thing you manage to say
  176. >All your energy rushes out of you, and the injuries you've sustained catch up to you
  177. >You drop to the ground, past exhausted
  178. >Your vision goes swirly and black, and the last thing you have memory of is Chrysalis running to your side, picking you up off the floor
