  9. Awesome. This interview is going to be broken down into two sections. The first is going to be a number of "scenario" questions of some common situations you might encounter ingame as a CCIA agent/when dealing with an incident report, and the second section is going to be some personal questions.
  10. Let's start off with the first question.
  11. Early in a round, a member of command staff faxes you about a Central Command Update that you did not send. The fax asks you to explain why the station is being leased to another company. How do you respond and why?
  12. Also if you have any questions at all during the interview feel free to stop me and ask.
  13.
  14. ComradeCorbynToday at 7:26 PM
  15. May I ask if the original fax was sent by an antagonist?
  16. Made a giant paragraph of text only to forget to ask this question.
  17.
  18. FlamingoToday at 7:28 PM
  19. Yeah so if you're in-game when it happens it gives you a little notification that it was made, aswell as in the staff discord server it make it clear it's a fake announcement. Administrators sometimes also send faxes for events or other purposes, but you have a channel ingame for speaking with them. It works similarly to OOC.
  20. You also have access to AOOC (antag ooc) for communicating with antagonists if necessary, and the ability to check the round type and any current antagonists.
  21.
  22. ComradeCorbynToday at 7:32 PM
  23. Got it. First off, I'd likely make the assumption that it's from an antagonist using their tools at their dispense. While this is likely the case most of the time, it's always good to check first then fax back. Not just for this hypothetical situation, the factors I consider that makes a good antagonist 'gimmick' is the reaction by other players - mostly if they are enjoying it or not, and if it's feasible and not out of left field if you catch my drift.
  24.
  25. Taking this into consideration for this situation in particular, likely I'd respond with a fax depending on how the lease itself being handled by antagonists. I don't necessarily considering a lease in it of itself not possible, but you'd also have to remind yourself that the NSS Aurora is mostly a secret phoron research facility in lore. If the antagonist hit a checkmark on all the qualifiers listed above, I'd likely respond with a fax either clarifying it with AOOC permission from antagonists or if possible, just say that the fax network is expensive and don't use it when you already have a CentCom announcement already about it.
  26.
  27. In the case that it's an admin event, I'd keep my hands off it unless the admin specifically asks for help - which I would happily oblige if I knew what to do.
  28.

  30. Sounds good to me. Let's move on to the next question:
  31. The Head Loyalist of the round creates a Central Command announcement that states all Tajara employees are to be 'heavily scrutinized' due to reports of widespread terrorist acts across Tau Ceti. You receive a fax from a concerned Head of Staff asking for details about the specifics of these instructions. How do you respond and why?
  32.
  33. ComradeCorbynToday at 7:40 PM
  34. As I said in my prior statement, an antagonist (especially loyalist/rev announcements) is meant to drive the story. Proper escalation rules still apply, and needs to be feasible. With this in mind, I'd likely look at the case itself.
  35.
  36. First off, Nanotrasen is a Corporation. For profit. Not neccesarily doing anything that would limit it's asset or make it look bad in public relations - which while this might look good in Sol, does not look good in the rest of the galaxy. I'm not certain on the specifics of it at the time, but I don't want to intervene too much and possibly cause a good event to become awful due to getting my thumb stuck in it.
  37.
  38. I'd likely look to another CCIAA Senior Agent for assistance here, considering they asked for the specifics as said. None the less, if none are online and my hand is forced, I'd respond with clarification depending on how the round is going and how the antagonists are escalating the round properly with quality roleplay. If they are, then I'd likely ask in AOOC how to clarify. I've seen in previous rounds faxes in response to situations like the above where an "intern" replies, and while I doubt CCIAA has this ability, it's certainly interesting to play dumb and ignore it entirely - which is not something I'd necessarily recommend.
  39.
  40. FlamingoToday at 7:41 PM
  41. Revolution is one of the times when CCIA have a little more liberty to take action. They can optionally take on a more antagonistic approach and help craft the story with the loyalists/revolutionaries. That is to say, they can back them up (within reason).
  42. Obviously if the announcement is "kill all the xenos" you will have to deny that, but you can operate a little more outside the rulebook so to speak during these rounds.
  43. With that, do you want to change your answer at all, or are you happy with it?
  44.
  45. ComradeCorbynToday at 7:44 PM
  46. Likely. While this situation isn't exactly the best crafted in mind, it's still an interesting approach to the gamemode as a whole. As I said, with these new facts introduced, I'd likely go with my option of working with the antagonists on AOOC to craft the specifics for a reply. While I don't want to be too bothersome and can likely use common sense for a reply, it's still going to be nice for the antagonists to know what I said so they don't get cross examined and absolutely fail because I said something different then them.
  47.
  48. FlamingoToday at 7:45 PM
  49. Cool. Let's move on to something a little different in scope. For the next question:
  50.
  51. Late in the round you recieve an EBS broadcast from the station AI, requesting an immediate Emergency Response Team. How do you respond and why?
  52.
  53. ComradeCorbynToday at 7:49 PM
  54. EBS usually is the last resort and both goes past the conventional method of just swiping or even faxing. It's high-priority and should be taken seriously. This usually is either when most heads of staff are dead, or there just are none to actually swipe for it.
  55.
  56. First off, I'd say the situation needs to be properly explained prior for an ERT to be even considered in the first place, and that the conventional method and the latter can't be accessed in the situation. That being said, it shouldn't be an entire paragraph explaining the situation but rather short and concise.
  57.
  58. FlamingoToday at 7:51 PM
  59. So in this case what specific action would you take, if any?
  60.
  61. ComradeCorbynToday at 7:52 PM
  62. Does the AI properly explain the situation in the fax and the reason why they couldn't swipe normally? As well, it's best to take in mind ERT usually wipes up the round and ends it for both antagonists and crew - which is what a good ERT should normally avoid, in my own opinion.
  63.
  64. FlamingoToday at 7:53 PM
  65. It just says that there's a situation and that ERT is requested. There's no other info than that.
  66.
  67. ComradeCorbynToday at 7:53 PM
  68. I'd likely delay it until further information surfaces, either through a CCIAA response asking for more info in the first place, or just not consider it.
  69.
  70. FlamingoToday at 7:54 PM
  71. Cool. Just a couple more on this section of the interview then.
  72. After completing your investigation of an Incident Report, you find that an officer escalated to a forceful arrest when a crewmember resisted detainment. While the original reason for the arrest is determined to be invalid, the officer argues that in resisting arrest, the crewman legitimized the detainment. How do you interpret any wrongdoing in this event, and what actions would you take, if any?
  73.
  74. ComradeCorbynToday at 7:59 PM
  75. Resisting Arrest is a separate charge entirely different from any other charges, and isn't just an additional charge that is based on another crime - if you catch my drift. While the definition of "proper arrest" isn't necessarily defined yet - unless there's precedence I'm not aware of - I'd likely agree with the officer in the fact that resisting an arrest in the first place authorized detainment for said crime, and that the original crime was determined invalid post-arrest.
  76. I'd take no action, in short.
  77.
  78. FlamingoToday at 8:01 PM
  79. Cool. Just one more question in this section, then we'll move onto the personal questions:
  80. You are playing in the round as the Captain. After a heated argument with your Chief Engineer, Central receives a fax from the CE asking CCIA to intervene in the dispute on her behalf. You are the only CCIA staff member available. How do you respond, and why?
  81.
  82. ComradeCorbynToday at 8:04 PM
  83. I'd be obviously biased in the matter, which I'd recuse myself no matter what. If there's no other CCIA staff members available at all, I believe administrators have the ability to reply - which I'm not entirely sure about, even if there are any online, but I'd likely say file an incident report in a reply to the fax - but even then, the reply could be challenged because of my intervention in the case itself.
  84.
  85. I'm not entirely sure how to go about this in the first place at all, and it's good to recognize what I'm capable of doing and not capable of doing.
  86.
  87. FlamingoToday at 8:09 PM
  88. Sounds good. Let's move onto the personal question section:
  89. What is your idea of an ideal conflict for an antagonist round?
  90.
  91. ComradeCorbynToday at 8:10 PM
  92. Going to be a bit repetitive in what I said earlier in that it should drive the story and conflict naturally and not synthetically. You should see proper escalation along with proper roleplay etiquette, as well with realism and not "I'm actually a walking cigarette who wants to get revenge on all those who smoke my brethren."
  93.
  94. FlamingoToday at 8:12 PM
  95. Can you expand a little bit on what you mean by natural conflict versus synthetic conflict?
  96.
  97. ComradeCorbynToday at 8:14 PM
  98. In that something shouldn't just jump and hop around, especially based on time where I frequently see antagonists try to cram all the 'action' in a round within the ten minute timespan between 1:50 and 2:00, before the shuttle is called. This isn't a spot on definition of what I was trying to say, but ultimately that's up to you to decide.
  99.
  100. FlamingoToday at 8:15 PM
  101. I think I understand what you mean. Cool. Let's move onto the next question:
  102. How do you feel CCIA staff members should be perceived by the playerbase? Does this differ significantly from how you feel CCIA characters should be perceived in the world of our setting?
  103. That is to say how do you feel they should be perceived IC versus OOC?
  104.
  105. ComradeCorbynToday at 8:19 PM
  106. CCIA OOCly, I believe, should be people to look up to from new players and old alike. They are the ultimate court of appeals ICly, the place where you can go where you believe you were wronged ICly and want redemption - not necessarily, but you know.
  107.
  108. ICly, it's a separate matter at hand. CCIA should be a force that can make people think twice before doing something stupid that would likely just get them outright fired in real life situations or other places, in the fact that there are punishments for your actions. This is a basic definition, but I think it gets the point across.
  109.
  110. FlamingoToday at 8:20 PM
  111. Sounds good. That sort of ties closely into my next question:
  112.
  113. What do you believe is the purpose of the Incident Report system?
  114.
  115. ComradeCorbynToday at 8:22 PM
  116. Incident Reports are, as I said, the final court of appeals. You may be able to talk to Internal Affairs on the station, or just a department head or nobody at all, yet in all of this they might not resolve the conflict itself.
  117. On that matter, by conflict, I mean when wronged ICly and unable to talk it out diplomatically and thoroughly. This might be as simple as an abusive security officer who goes out of his prerogative and jurisdiction, while in other cases it might be a Captain bringing political matters into his term on the NSS Aurora.
  118. I hope that answers the question.
  119.
  120. FlamingoToday at 8:25 PM
  121. That does wonderfully. These final two questions are a little more personal. More about your personal experience and such:
  122.
  123. You cited past moderation experience on SCP13; While CCIA are members of staff, they hold a very different role than moderators and administrators on our server, as they deal with the IC side of things rather than the OOC side of things. What prompted you to make this change when applying for a staff position on Aurora?
  124.
  125. ComradeCorbynToday at 8:26 PM
  126. I think it came down to the fact that I enjoyed actually handling the IC issues. Back on SCP13, we had the O5 council and a role similar to the Internal Affairs Agent where they frequently faxed admins (the O5) for situations and similar things to the CCIA here. While they didn't have a byzantine system as Aurora does, I enjoyed having the ability to do those IC decisions and et cetera rather then OOC administration side of being an Admin.
  127.
  128. FlamingoToday at 8:28 PM
  129. Cool. And I must ask since we don't really allow "double-dipping" on servers so to speak, but you are not currently a member of staff on another server, are you?
  130.
  131. ComradeCorbynToday at 8:29 PM
  132. Nope. I'm not a member of staff on any other server.
  133.
  134. FlamingoToday at 8:29 PM
  135. Cool. Final question:
  136. As CCIA is a bureaucratic agency, things can sometimes proceed at a slow rate of progress, especially when it comes to handling incident reports, which require setting up interviews and executing them in-game during rounds when it may not be possible. Sometimes it can be frustrating having to reschedule an interview several times. How do you feel you will handle the challenges of operating as an in-character focused staff member?
  137.
  138. ComradeCorbynToday at 8:36 PM
  139. Internet cut out there.
  140.
  141. None the less, for this question, I'd handle it like I handle most situations like this where I'd just stay calm and cool and focus on the objective at hand - not get sidetracked or inflammated at the process itself. I've handled red tape and paperwork first hand, as does everybody, and patience is key in most jobs, especially CCIA in my opinion.
  142.
  143. FlamingoToday at 8:37 PM
  144. Excellent. That should be it for the interview, though I lied about it being the last question. One more:
  145.
  146. Is it alright if I post your interview on the forums?
  147.
  148. ComradeCorbynToday at 8:38 PM
  149. Absolutely.
  150.
  151. FlamingoToday at 8:39 PM
  152. Perfect. This'll conclude the interview, then.
