  1. [16:17:36]
  2. The Regent arrives, with the large Empyrean and Providence's own Lady of Blood. She nods first to the member of the Urosil delegation. Then more stiffly to Roland and Elizabeth.
  3.
  4. "We have come to speak of conditions for an end to hostilities between Providence - and the people of several settlements of Sarea at large - and Deliverance.
  5.
  6. Last I knew, Providence's Court and its allies were all in agreement on these terms." Her eyes flick to those present, as if searching for that much of a silent agreement.
  7.
  8. "Are the members of the Deliverance Delegation, Roland and Elizabeth Evermore, prepared to hear our terms?"
  9. (Dura Levante)
  10. [16:21:24]
  11. There was a polite smile towards all present - albeit a more sceptical gaze to the towering Empyrean in a diplomatic meeting, of all things. Their presence seemed to catch her off-guard, though it was soon diverted to Dura, smile a faint smile.
  12.
  13. "I am ready to hear terms, yes. But I would first like to say thus:
  14.
  15. My intention is not to corrupt Rhyst into a Voidic wasteland. My intention is not to be a living cassus beli to the world. Now and ever, I have wanted to help Rhyst. I have wanted to work together, for peace."
  16.
  17. "Ultimatums are well and good. My father oft dealt in them. But I am hoping that today, we might reach a solution amicable to all."
  18.
  19. Her head bowed in turn, thus prepared to listen.
  20. (Elizabeth Evermore)
  21. [16:23:44]
  22. As expected, the Risen himself lacks any sort of special heralding- save for the Urosil-side of the delegation themselves as he firmly clasps his hands, before reaching a hand into his cloak's confines- withdrawing a singular, leatherclad notebook and a pen as its given a quick twirl- getting clicked open as he hums, flicking the book open to the earliest, unfilled page.
  23.
  24. "Nice to see you, Miss Levante-- as a preface."
  25.
  26. "But- yes, we're prepared to hear your terms, we've been aiming to reach a common agreement for quite some time now, it's just a shame there isn't an-- ah... Scribe, anywhere. Asphodel's great at being a stenographer."
  27.
  28. A roll of his shoulders, as he cants his head towards the remaining people in the room too-- all of them given a nod, and a very lukewarm smile.
  29. (Roland Evermore)
  30. [16:24:40]
  31. The entity slips off to the side with a tip of his head.
  32.
  33. Claws clasp. While his head remains forwards, at an easy smile on slightly weathered lips lined in those subtle wrinkles, the aging Ascendant is initially quiet as Dura takes the metaphorical stage.
  34.
  35. He nods, subtly, when she speaks of 'all in agreement on these terms', however; The buzz of his gaze on Elizabeth, with the faceless smile of Van'chiriel Enathrae much more easy than the forceful, composed rigidity of Dura Levante; But, no less expected.
  36.
  37. "I can keep such," He murmurs in response to Roland's inquiry. "Unless Providence would like to do so-?"
  38.
  39. The Empyrean in the room is eyed for a moment.
  40. (Chiriel)
  41. [16:27:36]
  42. DeLisle's face remains somewhere on the spectrum of 'impassive' and 'mildly irritated'. Her arms remain folded.
  43.
  44. "For this meeting, I would greatly appreciate if we could avoid any pleas at morality, finger-pointing about 'but someone did this so we had to do this' or otherwise discussing 'the greater good' or 'Sarea as a whole' or 'ideals that could just work if given a chance' and keep it in terms of practical discussions. Just to save everyone time."
  45.
  46. "Or. I guess the ones of us who aren't an unaging corpse. Compassion and consideration for my pre-rotting meat would go a long way with me."
  47. (Annette Harland)
  48. [16:28:12]
  49. EX CEL stares back at Elizabeth. They both know. They're informed. The details? Available, to each party. The Empyrean rumbled, letting out a faint grinding of stones fill the room.
  50.
  51. "EXCELLENT: spiel, HOWEVER: TODAY will dictate if what you STATE lines up with what you THINK. I: AM not SO dumb to BELIEVE that you are SUNSHINES and RAINBOWS after so much HARM follows in your WAKE."
  52.
  53. "AFTER: ALL, it WAS you who POSITIONED to LAY LOW CHANTICLEER and ANREED at the APHERION, and were TURNED BACK. AND: I WILL not IGNORE the fact YOU'VE acted with HOSTILITY to RHYST THUS FAR."
  54.
  55. It then turned, staring at Chiriel. "LOOK, IF YOU WISH. BUT JUDGE ME NOT, CHIRIEL. I AM NOT HERE TO HEAR YOUR CRITICISMS."
  56.
  57. A light rumble, as its core rested on Roland for a while longer. A new corpse, for the pile it would seem.
  58.
  59. "A NEW UNDEAD NEGOTIATOR. GREETINGS: new-COMER."
  60. (EX CEL)
  61. [16:32:40]
  62. The Regent remains rigid as she looks on to Roland and Elizabeth. The Urosil delegation is far warmer. She might as well be a statue, an unyielding fixture.
  63.
  64. Except that she does move as she nods towards her left.
  65.
  66. "Seconded with Lady Annette," she remarks, then glances over her shoulder and to the right. Another nod, respectful but curt, in contrast with the gentle lift of her hand.
  67.
  68. "XL. Would you be willing to act as stenographer here, please, for the sake of this meeting?"
  69.
  70. "The Delegation has said they're ready. We'll go by the numbers and begin with the first article." The Regent takes a sheet of vellum out where it was tucked beneath her arm and begins to read.
  71.
  72. "Article I: The Pillar of Soteria's capabilities to pull in souls and create new Risen will be disabled. No more are to be created."
  73.
  74. She pauses, looks up from the paper, and across to the Deliverance delegation.
  75. (Dura Levante)
  76. [16:33:03] EX CEL says, "NOT REALLY WILLING, BUT I WILL DO IT. "
  77. [16:33:08] Dura Levante says, "Appreciated."
  78. [16:34:29]
  79. Elizabeth listened, then, and nodded. Thus was her next manner more terse, and brisk:
  80.
  81. "I would hear all terms before commenting upon anything. And the reasoning for them."
  82. (Elizabeth Evermore)
  83. [16:34:50] Dura Levante says, "...I don't see why I really need to explain this first one."
  84. [16:34:51] Dura Levante says, "Do I?"
  85. [16:35:25] Elizabeth Evermore says, "I would appreciate it."
  86. [16:35:32]
  87. The Seer flicks out his black handbook.
  88.
  89. "I'll handle it, Dura." He drawls, popping open a vial of ink at his belt and dipping his claw in.
  90. (Chiriel)
  91. [16:35:37] Annette Harland says, "Wait- I have an idea."
  92. [16:36:13] Annette Harland says, "Why don't you tell us why you think we'd ask that first. I'd love to hear why you think we'd ask that if you're not sure."
  93. [16:36:56] Elizabeth Evermore says, "...Chiriel has told me of potential reasonings. You do not wish for us to add to our armies in the event of another attack; you wish to better research the Pillar to see if its voidic influence can be lessened upon Rhyst, which is difficult with further Risen."
  94. [16:37:17] Elizabeth Evermore says, "I can tell you my own reasoning as to why that is a difficult ask for me. But I am not immovable."
  95. [16:37:47] Dura Levante says, "Are those reasons already not good enough?"
  96. [16:37:57] Dura Levante says, "If not. I'm not sure how much headway we're going to make here, Elizabeth"
  97. [16:38:17] Elizabeth Evermore says, "It is highly likely the Paludrexian Legion shall attack us in the near future. And I am alive because of the Pillar of Soteria."
  98. [16:38:48] Elizabeth Evermore says, "I do not wish to deny others a chance at life. It is akin to me telling Providence to cease all recruitment for their settlement."
  99. [16:38:53] Dura Levante says, "If you agree to our terms, I can say that the likelihood of the Paludrexian Legion attacking you greatly diminishes. "
  100. [16:39:01] Dura Levante says, "..."
  101. [16:39:05] Dura Levante says, "That is not the same thing at all."
  102. [16:39:05] EX CEL says, "..."
  103. [16:39:10] Chiriel says, "Allow me to express strongly; It is not a denial to others at a chance at life."
  104. [16:39:16] Dura Levante says, "What in the absolute -"
  105. [16:39:18] EX CEL says, "ELIZABETH. ARE YOU aware of THE TREE OF YGGDRASIL?"
  106. [16:39:18] Chiriel says, "... Those souls will live again. You would live again, as well."
  107. [16:39:42] Elizabeth Evermore says, "...Mmh."
  108. [16:39:43] EX CEL says, "IT IS an IMMENSE boon in the EYES OF ARLANDRIANS, BUT it HARMS to WORLD. AND SO, UROSIL works to RETURN it. "
  109. [16:39:52] EX CEL says, "THE PILLAR, is your BOON, and YOUR curse."
  110. [16:39:59] EX CEL says, "HARMS the WORLD, even."
  111. [16:40:03] Annette Harland says, "I'd recommend not making comparisons like that. Trying to equate Providence and Deliverance dug a pretty deep hole in our last meeting."
  112. [16:40:04] Chiriel says, "... Tsk."
  113. [16:40:09] Chiriel says, "I do it because it is out of place."
  114. [16:40:16] Chiriel says, "It is also a crucial piece of the cycle of souls."
  115. [16:40:21] Elizabeth Evermore says, "...I apologise. But as I say - it is a difficult term for me."
  116. [16:40:24]
  117. The Regent lifts a hand and points a crystalline finger at Elizabeth.
  118.
  119. "You know what. I want to hear less from you. You are part of the previous administration." She swivels it to jab at Roland.
  120.
  121. "You. You had much, much less to deal with all the marching on our doorstep. If I am going to hear from either of you. I would rather hear from you."
  122. (Dura Levante)
  123. [16:41:01] Dura Levante says, "Also because I punched a hole through your chest and you still had the absolute stones to come and stand here."
  124. [16:41:28] Chiriel says, "He's a bold kinda guy."
  125. [16:41:36] Roland Evermore says, "I would say 'Live Laugh Love' but that would be quite, ah... Cringe, yes?"
  126. [16:41:41] EX CEL says, "YES."
  127. [16:41:45] Roland Evermore says, "I forgive the hole-punch, is what I mean."
  128. [16:41:48] Dura Levante says, "Yeah, leave the cringe to Maxwell. He's the resident cringe-sink in Sarea."
  129. [16:44:35]
  130. Roland, amidst all of his notetaking- takes a glance upwards, a blindfolded gaze meeting Dura's eyes as his lukewarm smile fails to falter in any way, leaving him to continue scribbling away as he chimes in.
  131.
  132. "I'm more willing in the happenstance of turning the Pillar's capabilities of creating new Risen off, but it very much shall remain turned on as-to avoid mass civilian casualties on our end."
  133.
  134. "...As for the minimizing corruption part, we welcome inherently trusted and known technicians to meddle in its inner workings to study and optimize its output -- but,"
  135.
  136. "We currently have a potential lineup for making that happen, already."
  137. (Roland Evermore)
  138. [16:45:36] Chiriel says, "For what it's worth, I believe we will not expect some form of immediate fingersnap."
  139. [16:45:50] Roland Evermore says, "...Very thoughtful of the written terms to include Risen, by the way. I like the thoughtful touch."
  140. [16:45:51] Chiriel says, "I'd like to clarify that, and it'll conjoin with article three."
  141. [16:46:27] Roland Evermore says, "(my skin returns."
  142. [16:46:27] Frog says, "(Hehe goodbye have a nice day!"
  143. [16:46:33] Chiriel says, "As long as this term is accepted and we're working together on it with mutual oversight and trusted parties, I believe all involved will be content that Article One is beind adhered to."
  144. [16:46:40] Chiriel says, "Being, ahem."
  145. [16:47:18] Annette Harland says, "I'll also add one of Caldwell's reasons not to kill him was 'we made The Pillar very poorly and nobody else knows how to work on it'. So in my case, it sounds like that whole thing is a shoddy piece of work. I don't like bad craftsmanship."
  146. [16:48:02] Chiriel says, "May I slightly address this out of order, given the necessity to Article One?"
  147. [16:48:28] Dura Levante says, "...I can speak to article III next."
  148. [16:48:31] Dura Levante says, "I've got it, Seer."
  149. [16:48:38] Chiriel says, "Thank you."
  150. [16:49:01] Roland Evermore says, "A man will say anything to avoid death- would they not?"
  151. [16:49:08] Roland Evermore says, "Desperation."
  152. [16:49:52] Annette Harland says, "It sounds like a giant liability for everyone, including yourself."
  153. [16:49:57] Chiriel says, "As someone who was there and that it was mostly made at Xi's complete discretion and mindspace, it was also just incredibly poorly known save to a few individuals."
  154. [16:50:22] Chiriel says, "It's also their life support, Lady Hhharlaaaand...? So, it's kind of important we at least try to remedy that."
  155. [16:50:45] Roland Evermore says, "It sounds to me like Caldwell took his precautionary steps to avoid immediate execution by saying whatever it takes to keep himself alive."
  156. [16:51:07] Roland Evermore says, "I don't blame him for it."
  157. [16:51:17] Annette Harland says, "Mhmm, I'm just trying to point out it doesn't sound like a boon to anyone and not something that's just 'worked on'."
  158. [16:51:27]
  159. The golden stare of the Regent locks onto Roland. A slow nod.
  160.
  161. "No more new Risen. Period. If we can agree on that? That means we can continue." Her brow furrows and her ears twitch.
  162.
  163. "When you say 'civilian casualties'. How many Risen would you say are in your ranks? Once I have an answer, I'll continue with Article III."
  164. (Dura Levante)
  165. [16:53:29] Chiriel says, "I'd have a rough estimate of at least a couple hundred given it's time of operation."
  166. [16:53:35] Dura Levante says, "..."
  167. [16:53:37] Dura Levante says, "I don't like that."
  168. [16:53:52] Chat command attempt: /logs
  169. [16:53:55] Chiriel says, "They're civilians, Dura. I did tell you."
  170. [16:54:21] Chiriel says, "Life support is operating for a bunch of people found and called from the unturning Styx, when shores are unable to reach Yggdrasil in a timely manner."
  171. [16:54:55] Annette Harland says, "I think she understands that part."
  172. [16:54:55] Chiriel says, "((brb!))"
  173. [16:56:03]
  174. "None by the Pillar. As you said. I think we can agree on that, yes."
  175.
  176. Further scribbling on his notebook as he cants his head downwards for a moment-- occasionally flicking to double-check on Elizabeth herself as he hums, before chiming in.
  177.
  178. "Of our finest, roughly thirty-- Then comes the ones that answered the call to be resurrected back into their form by the Pillar-- civilians, non-magi, general workers that offer their help in our day-to-day functioning--"
  179.
  180. "...Last I checked, around six hundred. Including the infantry."
  181. (Roland Evermore)
  182. [16:56:20] Dura Levante says, "...Point of clarification."
  183. [16:56:23] Dura Levante says, "No more new risen at all."
  184. [16:56:36] Dura Levante says, "Pillar or otherwise."
  185. [16:57:13] Dura Levante says, "Or Undead. Let's cover all our linguistic bases."
  186. [16:57:14]
  187. Though Elizabeth did not speak, she rose a brow to Roland. Mostly at the number that was raised.
  188.
  189. Though, documentation was no doubt difficult with the Pillar's blind churn. She didn't object, but even she seemed a little surprised by the number.
  190. (Elizabeth Evermore)
  191. [16:57:52] Roland Evermore says, "...Mh."
  192. [16:58:05] Dura Levante says, "That going to be a point of contention here, Roland?"
  193. [16:58:10] Annette Harland says, "So, this is a tangent. But I'm curious. Could the existing 'risen' be bound to something besides The Pillar?"
  194. [16:58:17] Roland Evermore says, "As it goes. None shall be Ris-"
  195. [16:58:22] Roland Evermore says, "Yes. Preservers."
  196. [16:58:28] Dura Levante says, "'Preservers'?"
  197. [16:58:33] Dura Levante says, "That just a fun word for 'Necromancer'?"
  198. [16:58:40] Roland Evermore says, "...To cover our linguistic bases-"
  199. [16:59:04] Roland Evermore says, "Necromancer, if you would-- The art is the same, but the function widely differs."
  200. [16:59:17] Roland Evermore says, "We don't use the Risen to our advantage, no."
  201. [17:00:00]
  202. Dura glances back towards DeLisle. She nods to her, then to the spot just to her left closer.
  203. (Dura Levante)
  204. [17:00:00] Chat command attempt: /emote Dura glances back towards DeLisle. She nods to her, then to the spot just to her left closer.
  205. [17:00:26] Dura Levante whispers, "Not pulling it out now, but Lett'Mora has been working on something, or allegedly was, to put them in mortal shells basically."
  206. [17:00:26] Chat command attempt: /w Not pulling it out now, but Lett'Mora has been working on something, or allegedly was, to put them in mortal shells basically.
  207. [17:00:37] Dura Levante whispers, "It's something to talk about outside of here and wring Vergyle's scrawny neck about."
  208. [17:00:37] Chat command attempt: /w It's something to talk about outside of here and wring Vergyle's scrawny neck about.
  209. [17:01:55]
  210. The Regent says a few hushed words as an aside, then quickly resumes.
  211.
  212. "So long as we agree on that then in the first article, no more new Risen or undead and the function of the Pillar to do so shut off, then we can continue."
  213.
  214. "The Deliverance contingent is in agreement?"
  215.
  216. It's all formalized. Fun.
  217. (Dura Levante)
  218. [17:01:57] Annette Harland whispers, "I had the insane plan that we just find 600ish non-Deliverance people to sponsor maintaining the existing undead. That'd assimilate them and also give both sides a reason not to attack. They'd probably be endeared."
  219. [17:02:27] Dura Levante whispers, "The last thing I want to do is 'endear' anyone to them, if I'm honest."
  220. [17:02:27] Chat command attempt: /w The last thing I want to do is 'endear' anyone to them, if I'm honest.
  221. [17:02:53]
  222. It took a few moments. Elizabeth appeared to be surveying the room; taking in the scene. They had evidently not gotten off to a good start, but gauging Chiriel, the delegation here...
  223.
  224. Elizabeth seemed to be adjusting. She smiled.
  225.
  226. "I am in agreement with this term."
  227. (Elizabeth Evermore)
  228. [17:03:00] Annette Harland whispers, "Other way around. Making them deal with people outside their bubble might help them 'get' when they're f***ing nuts for all of this."
  229. [17:03:18]
  230. Roland turns deadpan, for a moment.
  231.
  232. --And then back to his usual smile! How quaint.
  233.
  234. "...You've repeated this for the-- Yes. We are in agreement, for this term."
  235. (Roland Evermore)
  236. [17:03:39] Dura Levante whispers, "I've already seen too many sympathizers still to bank on that."
  237. [17:03:39] Chat command attempt: /w I've already seen too many sympathizers **still** to bank on that.
  238. [17:03:50] Dura Levante says, "Call it 'Imperial Formal Proceedings'. It gets like this."
  239. [17:04:03] Annette Harland whispers, "Yeah, probably tracks. Ugh."
  240. [17:06:24]
  241. "As I said. I'll move on to Article Three for the sake of tying it in to the First."
  242.
  243. She holds the vellum back up and squints. She'd better not need glasses any time soon due to all this paperwork, or someone will suffer.
  244.
  245. "Article III:
  246.
  247. A contingent of researchers must be allowed to investigate the Pillar, its functionality, and various claims surrounding its purpose and workings.
  248.
  249. Providence also desires that at least one of the Risen, if not more, submit themselves for scholarly examination."
  250.
  251. The Regent looks up and, once more, coolly regards the two Risen with an air of icy professionalism.
  252. (Dura Levante)
  253. [17:07:09] Dura Levante whispers, "Goes to show you, we can't bank on common sense."
  254. [17:07:09] Chat command attempt: /w Goes to show you, we can't bank on common sense.
  255. [17:07:20] Dura Levante whispers, "Think it was one of the Rivercrest women going around talking about them like they were victims."
  256. [17:07:20] Chat command attempt: /w Think it was one of the Rivercrest women going around talking about them like they were victims.
  257. [17:08:53] Annette Harland whispers, "People love to root for the underdog. And invent underdogs."
  258. [17:10:58]
  259. Is coolly regarded.
  260.
  261. Luckily for the Risen, he's already cool, all things considered, leaving him to keep up that lukewarm smile across his face, fingers drumming against the cover of his notebook as he keenly listens, before chiming in.
  262.
  263. "As long as it is not Ashin Luoh -- we welcome known, and certified architects, technicians and engineers, to examine the Pillar."
  264.
  265. "...For the sake of them not breaking it or sabotaging it by anyone ill-intentioned, yes? Your finest, if you will."
  266.
  267. A pause-
  268.
  269. "...As for the examination, I'm willing to submit myself for the sake of furthering research."
  270. (Roland Evermore)
  271. [17:12:23]
  272. "I am in agreement."
  273.
  274. A simple nod. She appeared content with this much, the smile remaining across her features.
  275. (Elizabeth Evermore)
  276. [17:13:22] Annette Harland says, "Please. We said researchers, not idiots. You're welcome to make them take a basic literacy test to rule people like that out."
  277. [17:13:28] Dura Levante says, "Yeah, no."
  278. [17:13:42] Dura Levante says, "Last I knew, he's not even allowed in Providence unless someone overturned that one."
  279. [17:13:54] Dura Levante says, "I don't intend to just throw anyone in there."
  280. [17:14:05] Dura Levante says, "I intend to go in - and I'd wager DeLisle'd like a crack at it too."
  281. [17:14:09] Roland Evermore says, "Marvelous."
  282. [17:14:10] Dura Levante says, "We can trust our own eyes more than anyone else's."
  283. [17:14:18] Roland Evermore says, "We're in agreement, then."
  284. [17:17:23]
  285. "Then that settles the matter of the Third."
  286.
  287. "Skipping back to the Second." Another squint, her eyes track back up the length of the vellum.
  288.
  289. "Article II:
  290.
  291. In line with the first article, Deliverance, and its people and those of its allies, are not to set foot into Kal Azul. Especially not for the purposes of continuing the creation of Undeath and Risen."
  292.
  293. She lowers the document.
  294.
  295. "Partially redundant, yes. But I like to have these things in writing."
  296.
  297. "Is the Deliverance contingent in agreement?"
  298.
  299. (Dura Levante)
  300. [17:18:39]
  301. A deadpan.
  302.
  303. This one lasts longer-- almost as if it was insulting, as the Evermore's jaw slacks, before his entire body re-tenses back up with ligaments and bones cracking in cacophony to reboot his body.
  304.
  305. "...In agreement, yes."
  306.
  307. Hands still scribble away at his notebook, nevertheless.
  308. (Roland Evermore)
  309. [17:19:39] Dura Levante says, "Elizabeth?"
  310. [17:20:45]
  311. Again this took a moment...
  312.
  313. But then came a nod.
  314.
  315. "We are in agreement."
  316. (Elizabeth Evermore)
  317. [17:22:55]
  318. Her face doesn't shift. She scans down the vellum once more, now more towards the bottom.
  319.
  320. "Article IV:
  321.
  322. The bodies of all slain by Deliverance must be returned to their place of origin. If one cannot be identified, they must be given cremation rites to be supervised by Providence officials."
  323. (Dura Levante)
  324. [17:23:51] Annette Harland says, "You know, last meeting we had Saint threw a table. So if you'd like to kick a chair around or something that's well within our expected tolerances."
  325. [17:24:08] Roland Evermore says, "I appreciate the comment."
  326. [17:24:25]
  327. A chair is most graciously afforded to the Deliverance contingent for kicking. How polite.
  328. (Dura Levante)
  329. [17:24:25] Chat command attempt: /emote A chair is most graciously afforded to the Deliverance contingent for kicking. How polite.
  330. [17:25:16]
  331. This one came much more easily; Elizabeth nodded soon afterwards.
  332.
  333. "We are in agreement."
  334.
  335. There came a brief smile to DeLisle there, an almost conspiratorial glance to the chair at her side...
  336.
  337. But she didn't do anything with it. Phew.
  338. (Elizabeth Evermore)
  339. [17:25:50] Dura Levante whispers, "Anything else you want to add?"
  340. [17:25:50] Chat command attempt: /w Anything else you want to add?
  341. [17:26:08] Dura Levante whispers, "Feel like that covered our big bases."
  342. [17:26:08] Chat command attempt: /w Feel like that covered our big bases.
  343. [17:26:57] Annette Harland whispers, "Do you think it's worth clarifying if Deliverance citizens are welcome in Providence? Human and undead."
  344. [17:27:12] Dura Levante whispers, "I'll be real, I don't want 'em in Providence."
  345. [17:27:12] Chat command attempt: /w I'll be real, I don't want 'em in Providence.
  346. [17:27:14] EX CEL says, "( sorry i alt f4'd the wrong game "
  347. [17:27:17] EX CEL says, "( im smart "
  348. [17:27:40] Dura Levante whispers, "They'll start their sob story up."
  349. [17:27:50] Dura Levante whispers, "More a pool to pull from for their propaganda."
  350. [17:27:50] Chat command attempt: /w More a pool to pull from for their propaganda.
  351. [17:27:58] Annette Harland whispers, "Me either. I think it'd start more fights. But I imagine one is going to wander in at some point."
  352. [17:28:07] Dura Levante whispers, "This is a cessation of open hostilities. No 'friendship'."
  353. [17:28:07] Chat command attempt: /w This is a cessation of open hostilities. No 'friendship'.
  354. [17:28:08]
  355. The offered chair is stared at.
  356.
  357. It's given a long stare, before Roland opts to seat himself proper on the chair itself-- contently nestling himself before continuing to scribble away.
  358.
  359. "We-- are in agreement, yes. Including the weapons of those who have fallen, might I add."
  360.
  361. Scribble, scribble.
  362. (Roland Evermore)
  363. [17:28:31] Dura Levante says, "(smort"
  364. [17:29:27] Dura Levante whispers, "I'll wait a second or two for Chiriel to see if I missed anything, not that I really want to."
  365. [17:29:27] Chat command attempt: /w I'll wait a second or two for Chiriel to see if I missed anything, not that I really **want** to.
  366. [17:29:36] Dura Levante whispers, "But I'd rather get it out of the way than hear the bitching later."
  367. [17:29:36] Chat command attempt: /w But I'd rather get it out of the way than hear the bitching later.
  368. [17:30:10] Annette Harland whispers, "Same. If I have to do a meeting about this meeting I'm peeling my skin off."
  369. [17:32:00]
  370. The Regent scans up and down the document again, nodding softly. More to herself and the Lady of Blood beside her.
  371.
  372. "These were the big points we wanted to hit. We can discuss the potential of war reparations more in detail - with labor for repairs and such - at another time.
  373.
  374. This was more germane to the cessation of hostilities.
  375.
  376. We can wait a moment for the Urosil contingent to see if he has anything he'd like to add."
  377. (Dura Levante)
  378. [17:32:46] Dura Levante whispers, "I don't know if the Paludrexian Legion will fully back off with this. But hey."
  379. [17:32:46] Chat command attempt: /w I don't know if the Paludrexian Legion will fully back off with this. But hey.
  380. [17:32:49] Dura Levante whispers, "Not our problem."
  381. [17:32:49] Chat command attempt: /w Not our problem.
  382. [17:33:31] Annette Harland whispers, "Yeah I'm not sure what I could do to wrangle Boundary's Stupidest."
  383. [17:34:04] Dura Levante whispers, "I talked to their least stupidest and he seemed to mostly be in agreement with the rough gist of what we were asking."
  384. [17:34:04] Chat command attempt: /w I talked to their **least** stupidest and he seemed to mostly be in agreement with the rough gist of what we were asking.
  385. [17:34:10] Dura Levante whispers, "But end of the day, we can't control them."
  386. [17:34:10] Chat command attempt: /w But end of the day, we can't control them.
  387. [17:35:03] Dura Levante whispers, "Hard to gauge where all the pieces are on the board when some of them are wildcards."
  388. [17:35:03] Chat command attempt: /w Hard to gauge where all the pieces are on the board when some of them are wildcards.
  389. [17:35:51] Dura Levante says, "(chiriel got waylaid somewhere i believe"
  390. [17:35:54] Dura Levante says, "(will see if i can't find what's up"
  391. [17:36:00] EX CEL says, "( yea "
  392. [17:36:27] Annette Harland whispers, "Half of them are basically mercenaries. And you KNOW how I feel about f***ing mercenaries."
  393. [17:37:17] Dura Levante whispers, "Yeah. I know."
  394. [17:37:17] Chat command attempt: /w Yeah. I know.
  395. [17:37:31] Dura Levante whispers, "Goro at least had principles."
  396. [17:37:31] Chat command attempt: /w Goro at least had principles.
  397. [17:39:03]
  398. And, as such, the Pillar stands up.
  399.
  400. ...And begins walking towards Dura.
  401.
  402. And walking-- striding, even, coming to stand right infront of the Regent herself (with added carefulness to avoid standing anywhere he can be punched through the chest again)--
  403.
  404. Head canted downwards-- poker smile equipped, he opts to offer a singular hand outwards, while the other, unoccupied hand comes to flick his blindfold upwards.
  405.
  406. --Unsurprisingly, he's not actually blind- in fact, two, viridian orbs bore into the Regent's own gaze as he chimes.
  407.
  408. "...Mmmhmmm. And if citizens and slash or soldiers of Providence were to attack, after we've cleared this meeting, would they be considered criminals?"
  409.
  410. "Legalese, and all that, you know. I'd like to be certain."
  411. (Roland Evermore)
  412. [17:39:04]
  413. Asphodel silently files in, already bearing a notebook, flipped to an empty page. Tentacles emerge from under a sleeve, bearing pens and pencils and scribbling, right as he sits down at a lectern.
  414. (Asphodel)
  415. [17:44:55]
  416. The Regent, unflinching, returns the stare flatly. There is no outright hostility.
  417.
  418. But there is a twitch of her crystalline fingers.
  419.
  420. "The agreement of these articles is to outline a cessation of hostilities between Providence and Deliverance. Any citizen in violation of them without due cause will be processed under the law."
  421.
  422. "That being said." A light narrowing.
  423.
  424. "Understand that there are still tensions. There are still fresh wounds that have been dealt. To that end, your people shouldn't be in our walls."
  425.
  426. "No need to exacerbate things."
  427. (Dura Levante)
  428. [17:45:14] Dura Levante says, "Unless, of course. It's official business. Like this."
  429. [17:46:42] Dura Levante says, "(i believe it is foretold that it will be about 10 more mins and chiriel will be back"
  430. [17:48:35]
  431. The hand remains extended.
  432.
  433. "Marvelous. I agree with the fresh wound thing, honestly -- however, while we don't plan extended visits or any of the sort, I'd say that visits for trade and commerce should be put into consideration, it would benefit the both of us, yes?"
  434.
  435. And, as ever...
  436.
  437. ...A lukewarm smile, to top off all of that spiel.
  438. (Roland Evermore)
  439. [17:49:23]
  440. Asphodel helpfully chimes in, "I would advise any such delegations be composed of living members of your polity to reduce the lynching quotient!"
  441. (Asphodel)
  442. [17:49:49] Annette Harland says, "How the f**k do you lynch someone who can't breathe."
  443. [17:50:06] EX CEL says, "BEAT THEM TO A PULP."
  444. [17:50:16] Roland Evermore says, "That does not work either."
  445. [17:50:19] Elizabeth Evermore says, "Anreed already tried that."
  446. [17:50:20] Elizabeth Evermore says, "Aha."
  447. [17:50:34] EX CEL says, "YOU only LIVE because CALDWELL died, ELIZABETH."
  448. [17:50:38] EX CEL says, "IT is not a LAUGHING matter."
  449. [17:51:02]
  450. He keeps his lukewarm smile. She keeps her passive scowl.
  451.
  452. "For now, let's keep trade and commerce done outside the walls. Any contingents for this to come inside the city can be discussed at a later time. But for now..."
  453.
  454. Her jaw tightens. The Regent reaches out a hand to tensely shake his. The one of flesh and blood - her left one. There may be an awkward switchup moment.
  455. (Dura Levante)
  456. [17:53:05]
  457. What a great duo. Girlboss and Mansplain.
  458.
  459. His hand neatly switches as the flesh-and-blood one is offered outwards for him, the Risen's fingers coming to firmly clasp around Dura's -- with the added benefit of a frigid cold creeping up her fingertips the very second any skin contact is established, leaving him to give one shake, before releasing his hold on the hand.
  460.
  461. "Sure. At a later time, then."
  462. (Roland Evermore)
  463. [17:55:51] Dura Levante says, "Right. If Chiriel doesn't wake soon - we can adjourn with the understanding we've got now. Though I'd rather not have another meeting if we can help it."
  464. [17:56:26] Asphodel says, "...for the record!"
  465. [17:57:01]
  466. The Regent's head slowly turns. Her stare levels intensely on Asphodel as he's about to speak.
  467. (Dura Levante)
  468. [17:57:01] Chat command attempt: /emote The Regent's head slowly turns. Her stare levels intensely on Asphodel as he's about to speak.
  469. [17:57:06] Asphodel says, "That is a...formal cessation of combat and hostilities, without attending formation of legal diplomatic ties?"
  470. [17:57:08] Roland Evermore says, "...He is sleeping rather soundly, huh."
  471. [17:57:26] Asphodel says, "Eye-ee, a treaty?"
  472. [17:57:30] Dura Levante says, "More or less."
  473. [17:58:10] Dura Levante says, "Though it's understood, however, that outright attacking without proper cause will be punished under the law."
  474. [17:58:14]
  475. There's a flourish of his tendrils, as a big, blocky [NO TREATY] is carved into his notebook.
  476. (Asphodel)
  477. [17:58:15] Dura Levante says, "If that needs clarifying, Asphodel."
  478. [17:59:01] Asphodel says, "No--we have no formal accord with Rivercrest or Lett'mora, but attacking their civilians will still implicitly result in action."
  479. [17:59:09] Asphodel says, "Yaknow. If they didn't deserve it."
  480. [17:59:13] Dura Levante says, "I like to be sure."
  481. [17:59:56]
  482. Wow. Everyone is so cool and calm and collected. So is Mortimer. Morty has been sitting atop the doorjamb the entire time. She's got a tiny, levitating table, with a tiny, levitating tea set, and has been sipping from a tiny teacup for the duration of the meeting.
  483.
  484. Seriously, she's been here the entire time. Just listening in. The whole deal.
  485.
  486. No more new Risen or other undead, the Pillar of Soteria shut off (can they even do that?).
  487.
  488. Research permissions for the Pillar and the Risen alike - researching Roland, in particular. Luoh is banned, for being creepy, presumably. Or illiterate, as was hilariously alleged.
  489.
  490. Nobody's allowed to go to Kal Azul. Weird call, considering they already got everything they wanted out of it, but better safe than sorry, eh?
  491.
  492. Return of the deceased for funerary rites. Very Achaean, how honorable. Even including the weapons! Truly, Roland would've done well in Troy.
  493.
  494. EX CEL just walking over and hammering ore into ingots mid-meeting, then slamming them right into coins in the mint. Mortimer laughed aloud during that, but it made such cacophonous noise that nobody noticed.
  495.
  496. The temptation to fly over and punt the F**K out of that chair was strong, but this was official business, yes, very important, very serious.
  497.
  498. Dura explaining that Deliverance shouldn't be in Providence's walls. Even excluding trade and commerce! This forced Morty to stifle a giggle, since she was in Provi's walls, herself.
  499.
  500. Any hostilities from either side will be considered a legal matter, one of law enforcement. Policing actions, not casus beli, to be handled cooperatively.
  501.
  502. Somehow, despite how often everyone gathered inspected the room, nobody noticed the fairy sitting atop the doorframe, listening in from on the threshold. It's uncanny. It's like magic.
  503.
  504. Oh, wait, that's exactly what it was, actually.
  505.
  506. "Wow. Great meeting. Cool as a cucumber, everybody - without becoming a pickle! Don't worry, I heard the bits Chururu fell asleep for. I can just fill him in on it later."
  507.
  508. Casual sip.
  509. (Mortimer)
  510. [18:00:01] Annette Harland whispers, "Like many people on Sarea, he has many strong and annoying opinions on how to resolve this. If I wasn't f- ..involved one of his moms I'd kick his head off. It's driving me crazy."
  511. [18:00:28] Roland Evermore whispers, "I like Asphodel."
  512. [18:00:34] Roland Evermore whispers, "Steadfast and capable of backing his words up."
  513. [18:01:06]
  514. And immediately the Regent's eyes snap to Mortimer. She visibly bristles.
  515.
  516. "You were not an agreed upon member of the Urosil contingent. You are going to leave."
  517. (Dura Levante)
  518. [18:01:06] Annette Harland whispers, "Yeah, well you don't have him breaking into your f***ing apartment to tell you this sh** on a tri-weekly basis."
  519. [18:01:25] Roland Evermore whispers, "Have you-- asked him not to, yet?"
  520. [18:01:30] Annette Harland whispers, "Yes. Constantly."
  521. [18:01:41] Roland Evermore whispers, "I think you should ask him harder."
  522. [18:01:54] Annette Harland whispers, "Right, that involves kicking his head off."
  523. [18:02:00] Roland Evermore whispers, "Do you want me to ask him?"
  524. [18:02:05] Annette Harland whispers, "F**k no."
  525. [18:02:12] Roland Evermore whispers, "Pfhrueh-heh."
  526. [18:02:15] Dura Levante whispers, "I am going to shoot a fairy in five seconds. DeLisle, do you have a spare gun."
  527. [18:02:15] Chat command attempt: /w I am going to shoot a fairy in five seconds. DeLisle, do you have a spare gun.
  528. [18:02:20] Annette Harland whispers, "Yes."
  529. [18:02:48]
  530. Morty tilts her head.
  531.
  532. "Oh. Okay. You left the door open, I figured it was an open invitation. Zayne even confirmed you were still here, so..."
  533.
  534. Morty stows her tea set by throwing it over her shoulder. There's no resounding crash, it just disappears behind something and is gone forever.
  535.
  536. "Maybe lock your doors when you have clandestine meetings in the future? Just an idea. Bye! Tee-hee.";;;
  537.
  538. Out she goes, through the unlocked door!
  539. (Mortimer)
  540. [18:02:52] Mortimer says, "(ARGH "
  541. [18:03:18]
  542. Roland proceeds to snap his head to the side.
  543.
  544. --and past that, as bones snap towards Mortimer, and-- they're given a quick, backwards wave.
  545.
  546. As quick as they come, the quicker they go, APPARENTLY.
  547. (Roland Evermore)
  548. [18:03:20] Annette Harland whispers, "I hate everyone and everything on this f**king continent. "
  549. [18:03:44]
  550. "Bull and you know it," she snaps. The Regent holds out a hand in DeLisle's direction in a 'gimme' gesture.
  551.
  552. But the fairy is already flitting away.
  553.
  554. Dura silently fumes.
  555. (Dura Levante)
  556. [18:04:04]
  557. Roland cracks his head back to the correct way.
  558. (Roland Evermore)
  559. [18:04:10] Dura Levante whispers, "I'd say to tell your husband not to point uninvited delegates to political meetings."
  560. [18:04:10] Chat command attempt: /w I'd say to tell your husband **not** to point uninvited delegates to political meetings.
  561. [18:04:13] Dura Levante whispers, "But I'll tell him myself."
  562. [18:04:13] Chat command attempt: /w But I'll tell him myself.
  563. [18:04:17]
  564. Roland is also, in fact, still unnervingly close to the pair.
  565. (Roland Evermore)
  566. [18:04:17] EX CEL says, "HM."
  567. [18:04:29] EX CEL says, "COULD WE install an ANTI-AIR GUN for NEXT TIME?"
  568. [18:04:29] Annette Harland whispers, "I think we can both tell him. "
  569. [18:04:34] Dura Levante whispers, "Great."
  570. [18:04:34] Chat command attempt: /w Great.
  571. [18:04:39] Dura Levante says, "Fine idea, honestly."
  572. [18:04:39] EX CEL says, "I WOULD gladly MAN IT TO OBLITERATE that UNIDENTIFIED THING out of the AIR."
  573. [18:04:41] Annette Harland says, "Absolutely. Yes. F*** yes."
  574. [18:05:29] Roland Evermore says, "They're simply a little guy?"
  575. [18:05:39] Dura Levante says, "A little guy that can get the f*** out uninvited."
  576. [18:05:52] Annette Harland says, "Well. I'm just getting mad for non-meeting but compounding reasons now. Anything else, or are we good?"
  577. [18:06:11] Dura Levante says, "Think this is good. This meeting is adjourned."
  578. [18:06:18] Roland Evermore says, "We are waiting on Chiriel's awakening, as far as I'm concer- great."
  579. [18:06:18] Dura Levante says, "I'll catch the Urosil delegation up to speed once they wake up."
  580. [18:06:56] Chiriel says, "((THAT SUCKED)"
  581. [18:07:00] Chiriel says, "((IM BACK))"
  582. [18:07:02] EX CEL says, "( hey "
  583. [18:07:02] Dura Levante says, "He Lives."
  584. [18:07:04] Roland Evermore says, "I enjoy progress being made--"
  585. [18:07:10] Roland Evermore says, "I sense his form twitched."
  586. [18:07:17] Roland Evermore says, "Yes, he's woke."
  587. [18:07:18] Dura Levante says, "Chiriel. The next time the fairy shows up uninvited, I'm shooting it."
  588. [18:07:28] Chiriel says, "Please don't shoot her, but."
  589. [18:07:40] Dura Levante says, "Then don't have her show up uninvited."
  590. [18:07:45] EX CEL says, "I HATE FUNGUS. "
  591. [18:07:49] Chiriel says, "That's fair."
  592. [18:08:08] Dura Levante says, "Ahem."
  593. [18:08:17] Dura Levante says, "Does the Urosil delegation have anything else to add?"
  594. [18:08:38] Annette Harland whispers, "This is why I've been taking meetings in weird places lately. Harder to find..."
  595. [18:08:54] Chiriel says, "So, on Article III."
  596. [18:09:06] Dura Levante whispers, "Maybe next time just haul it up to the shack where Saint flipped the table."
  597. [18:09:06] Chat command attempt: /w Maybe next time just haul it up to the shack where Saint flipped the table.
  598. [18:09:19] Roland Evermore whispers, "Have you considered a neutral area?"
  599. [18:09:21] Chiriel says, "I'd like to propose Seth Mercer as the head of the project and review for it under Article I."
  600. [18:09:36] Dura Levante says, "I will consider it."
  601. [18:09:44] Dura Levante says, "I'll speak with my Court as far as who heads it up."
