Subterra Incognita

At most a formality, but perhaps of use should a Peripheral nomad stumble across my humble works.  Herein I delineate the mighty nations of the Undermountain region.  To the north of this region lies Canadia, to the west lies the Californian Nations, to the south lies Texan and Mexan dynasties.  From the east comes only evil.

Current:
	AZURE FACTION - A mighty but corrupt military autocracy founded by the American General Bautista in the year 134.  The Azure Faction's historical enemy has always been the TexMex Dominion, but it has always been at odds with the U.S.A. as well.
	HELLSTONE TORUS - A nation of sinful, immoral devils and scorchheads supporting by that pit of hell itself, the Coloradan Empire.  Without Imperial support, the den of lions would consume itself.
	THE WINGED PRETENDERS - The accursed usurpers of America that have forged a constitution into a crown.  The U.S.A. has lain dead for 30 years.  A two-headed eagle has replaced the old American standard.

	GRAND JUNCTION - This city sits on a critical crossroads and is the only base in the entire western region the Marauders are afraid to attack.  Became independent after being conquered by the American General Lusitania in the year 117.  The oldest known contiguous governing body.
	TELLURIDE - A notable city to the south of Grand Junction.  Original a subsidiary of its larger northern sister city, it declared independence in the year 388.  The two cities maintain a robust trade.
	SEATOWN - The breadbasket of Undermountain due to its abundant water supply and power plant. This city became independent under the rule of the American defector General Rodriguez in the year 146.
	MARAUDER CITY - A hive of scum and villainy.  The Marauders maintain their existence by raping and pillaging their way across the western region.
	THREE CITIES - The Three Cities were founded by American Colonel Bigelow, Major Luce, and Lieutenant Major Hanover in the year 98.  They have always maintained a strict military and have, historically, punched above their weight class.  This is the only reason they remain independent of the Azure Faction.
	FREE CITIES - The Free Cities defected from the U.S.A. when the Winged Pretenders toppled the government.  The Pretenders have not yet been able to bring them under control.
	CANNIBAL CLANS - A motley crew of repulsive maneaters from the Infinite Mire.

Peripheral:
	North:  Canadia - The U.S.A. traded with Canadia for diesel, but with the coup 30 years ago, the lines have run dry.  All of Undermountain suffers because of this.
	West: Navajo Nation - A nation of fiercely independent tribes known for their spirituality.
	West: The Scourge - A Black General and his horde, yet to be exterminated for two hundred years.  The last active remnant of Corporation Genetek.
	South:  The TexMex Dominion - When unified, it is strong; however, no passing of the crown has ever gone smoothly.  The Texan and Mexan factions within the Dominion perpetually struggle for dominance.
	East: Coloradan Empire - An empire of vile sinners and bloodthirsty conquerors.  Once, they were afraid of the might of America; with the U.S.A. now 30 years dead, they grow bolder every day.



Extinct:
	U.S.A. - A light in the darkness.  Since the Crisis and the Evacuation, the U.S.A. has existed in one form or another.  President Gonzalez brought the warring American generals together in the year 258 to form the Unified State of America, as legend held it once was on the Surface.  For six hundred years afterwards, it reigned strong and protected Undermountain from foreign intrusion.  For the last 200 years, it was ruled by the Immortal President, who was put into a coma by the Winged Pretenders during their coup.
	THE WORLD BURNERS - A catch-all name for the ones that destroyed the Surface with plague, pollution and war.  During Crisis, the Surface  U.S.A. created Undermountain and hid away a secret population, but most stayed aboveground.  Fifty years later, they invaded Undermountain to escape their now uninhabitable world.  Although the new Underground U.S.A. repelled the invasion, it ushered in two hundred years of warring American generals until Gonzalez unified the state.
	CORPORATIONS - Corporations, a poorly understood type of organization from the pre-Crisis era, helped make Undermountain possible.
		FLOURISH CORPORATION - Created the flora that we know and love and eat today.  Flourish plants are critical to survival.
		GENETEK CORPORATION - The black demons that caused so much trouble in our history.  During the American Warring States period, the Generals created all manner of horrible hellbeasts to fight for them.  Now, they plague our tunnels and caves forevermore.





Religions:

Christianity - An ancient religion worshiping a mighty god.  It is the oldest religion known to man.
Navajo Spirit Worship - As far as I am aware, they believe there is a spirit in everything.
Mormonism - A peculiar Christian sect prone whose males are prone to taking multiple wives.  These people tend to abstain from drinking or other merrymaking as well.
Catholicism - Another Christian sect that comes primarily from the TexMex Dominion.
Præsidential Cult - Although the Immortal President discouraged president-worship during his reign, in his absence, this religion has flourished amongst opposers of the Winged Pretenders.
