== What is IRC?
Internet Relay Chat. It was made in 1988; in inner circles IRC is also known as MPN (MultiPlayer Notepad).
It's like a groupchat that anybody can enter; and you can leave it running so you can parse through conversations that go on while you're away.
If anybody wants to talk to you? They can leave a message and you can get back to it whenever, and people can even send files (viruses) to you on a DCC! Crazy times.

== How the fuck do you use IRC?
For the test-run we're gonna go through Rizon and they have a very nice, comprehensive wiki on what we can do (https://wiki.rizon.net/index.php?title=Main_Page) but we don't have the joy of ownership on the server.
A more permanent server doesn't cost much (micro instance on Amazon’s EC2 runs about 14/monthly w/free first year) but I'm not paying for shit that's not seeing usage.
Thus we're testing this for a week or however long. If it's a smash hit; me or somebody else will start up a dedicated server I guess.

1. Download mIRC; Hexchat, or whatever IRC client you want to use
2. Connect to irc.rizon.net
3. Register your nickname and get a vhost (see the server MOTD; disconnect and reconnect after your vhost is approved)
4. type '/join #/smg/'
4.1 if '/join #/smg/' doesn't work try '/join #/smg/ moneylmao' and if that doesn't work call me a faggot

== I'm here; now what?
literally just don't do anything illegal
other than that start any conversation you want cause we're all /smg/ers and I really don't wanna have to constantly moderate shit or ban/kick people or have people worry about *getting* banned or kicked. It's an IRC, I seriously doubt we'll run into problems here.
