"Did we get it?" Asked the voice over the radio

"The detonation went off, but something's not right. We packed enough in there to level the place but it's still standing!"

"The fuck do you MEAN it's still standing?"

"I don't know, there was a boom, and then a really bright flash, and a bunch of windows blew out but it's just smoking a lot!

"Well, send your boys in and confirm if we got em. Kill any survivors. And then have a long talk with your bomb guy."

"Alright, MEN! Move up! We got some species traitor to finish off!"

The squad moved in, nearing the half-blown out doors of the morphic therapy center.

The five nearest the doors were then immediately crushed as they flew out on a beam of pure hot pink energy.

The rest were scattered as a single lone figure walked out of the building wreathed by black smoke, a hang to the side of their helmet, talking over a comm-link. "-they appear to be concentrated at this location. You and your teams focus on evac and defending civilians from any other pockets of resistance. These ones are -mine.-"

The figure looked back at the battalion of H@H soldiers. It was clear they had raided the local government Supervillain equipment lock up, many brandishing low-weight strength enhancement frames, and high powered weaponry. They were flanked by armored vehicles, and even a few tanks. Whoever was bank-rolling this particular chapter was really putting it in one basket today.

A Shame.

"Just so you know..." Said the figure, raising his voice so he could be heard over the noise. "Everyone in there's a live. Seventeen with serious burns, twenty five with broken bones, fifty pretty dazed and disoriented from the smoke, but they're all alive."

The figure's hands began to glow.

"You failed. And you know why? Because you tried to pull shit shit in. My. Town. You wanna know why your bomb didn't do jack shit? Here's a hint."

He held out a hand, and one of the tanks went up in an explosion of protonic energy.

"Every blast that wrecks your shit. Every punch that breaks your jaws. Every brick of your empire I take away piece by piece? That's your class-A fuck-up coming back to haunt you."

He stepped forward, visor glowing bright pink.

"Now get the fuck out of my city before I toss your corpses out of it."
