Two young film directors and friends, Giorgos and Kostas, have already lost quite a lot of money with their artistically ambitious films. So, in order to survive, they are forced to film advertising spots. What they really want, however, is to make an artistic film that would become a success and get them off the hook. They try desperately to find sponsors, both within and outside the world of cinema. Their problem, however, is their own characters: one of them is a conventional socialist who wants to make a conventional narrative film, whereas the other is more radical and dreams of a politically committed film.
