  1. Registration will CLOSE on Saturday, January 16th, at 11am EST.
  2. Duelist Kingdom will BEGIN on that same day, January 16th, one hour later at 12pm EST!
  3.
  4. This event will be using the 15 Card Mod for Yu-Gi-Oh! Forbidden Memories.
  5.
  6. RNG manipulation isn't allowed. Obviously.
  7.
  8. This first season of Duelist Kingdom is experimental. It's possible there may be small changes made to these rules throughout the event, provided the entrants decide it's for the best of the event.
  9.
  10. All Duelist Kingdom entrants begin the event with 3 (three) total starchips. (EDIT: This has been changed to 5 starchips. All entrants have been credited 2 starchips.)
  11.
  12. These starchips will be used as tokens to wager in a 1v1 race with an opponent of your choosing.
  13.
  14. All matches will be set up BY THE ENTRANTS THEMSELVES.
  15.
  16. You are welcome to challenge any other entrant to a match whenever you'd like (as long as you and the other entrant still have at least 1 starchip).
  17.
  18. The entrant you challenge is NOT OBLIGATED to accept a match with you. Matches must be agreed upon by BOTH entrants; absolutely nothing is mandatory. You're welcome to challenge anyone you want, at any time you want.
  19.
  20. You can only do a MAXIMUM of 2 matches per day. To clarify, this means you can only do 2 matches per 24 hours. So if you start your first match at 1pm on Monday, that means your 24 hours resets at 1pm Tuesday. The 24 hours always begins the moment you start your first match of the day.
  21.
  22. All entrants MUST provide their Discord username when registering, and must be okay with that username being available to all other Duelist Kingdom entrants.
  23.
  24. The matches themselves will have MOSTLY standard FM tournament rules. 1v1, first person to beat the game from a brand new game file wins. Remember, only the RACE TIME matters here (aka the time that shows as your final time on racetime.gg). Timing ends once the "You Win" screen fades away on Nitemare and you see the Duel Stats/Rank screen.
  25.
  26. You must follow the same rules for speedrunning 15 card mod that are listed on the Speedrun.com leaderboard. If you're not familiar with these rules, read them before registering.
  27.
  28. All matches MUST be streamed LIVE, and it MUST be watchable AFTER the match is completed. If you're using Twitch, make sure you have "Save Past Broadcasts" turned on. As long as you stream the match live and I can watch that livestream VoD a few days later, you're good to go.
  29.
  30. During these streams, the game must be completely visible and legible for the entire livestream. Having alerts pop up partially over the game briefly is fine, but having part of the game permanently cut off is not. Quality doesn't matter much, but I have to be able to read card names and whatnot. If your quality is so bad that I can't even tell what card you just added into your deck, then it might not be the best idea to join.
  31.
  32. Emulators are ALLOWED during Duelist Kingdom, but ONLY the approved emulators and versions listed on the speedrun.com leaderboards. Those are:
  33.
  34. ePSXe 1.8.x, 1.9.x, and 2.0.0
  35. Mednafen
  36. Xebra
  37.
  38. Using any other emulator makes your run invalid, and your opponent will win the match by default. If both entrants use an emulator not on that list, both entrants will lose 1 starchip.
  39.
  40. Matches will NOT have the usual 5 hour time limit in Duelist Kingdom. This is the only real change to the standard FM tournament rules.
  41.
  42. Matches MUST be completed in a single sitting. You are NOT ALLOWED to start a match, and then decide to pause it and continue it the next day. Yes, not even if both entrants agree to it.
  43.
  44. When a match begins on racetime.gg, that match is official. You cannot decide to no longer do the match, you cannot decide to continue the match the next day: none of that. If I see that this happens, even if both entrants agreed to it, both entrants will lose one starchip.
  45.
  46. For roughly the first month of Duelist Kingdom, you can only bet 1 starchip. The maximum bet allowed will slowly increase throughout the event, according to the following schedule:
  47.
  48. - January 16th until February 14th at 12pm EST: 1 starchip maximum bets
  49.
  50. - February 14th at 12pm EST until March 8th at 12pm EST: 2 starchip maximum bets
  51.
  52. - March 8th at 12pm EST until March 26th at 12pm EST: 3 starchip maximum bets
  53.
  54. - March 26th at 12pm EST until April 2nd at 12pm EST (the final week): 5 starchip maximum bets
  55.
  56. Keep in mind, these are MAXIMUM bets, not MINIMUM bets. You can still bet 1 starchip for the entire event.
  57.
  58. However, for the ENTIRE event, runners can agree to a match where one person bets more than 1, while their opponent only bets 1. This would be used to entice a particular opponent into facing you, regardless of experience level. Keep in mind that only ONE player is allowed to bet more than 1 starchip during the match. The other player is still forced to bet only 1 starchip. Because of this, be careful who you offer this type of match to! (This is mainly implemented just in case some runners are having trouble finding someone to agree to face them, and they wish to up the ante to get more interest. There's simply no way to ensure this problem does not happen without a complete restructuring of what Duelist Kingdom is, so at least for this iteration, this is how things will work.)
  59.
  60. The winner of the match will take all starchips bet. For example, if I have 3 starchips, and I race someone else with 3 starchips, the winner will end with 4 starchips, and the loser will end with 2 starchips.
  61.
  62. If you run out of starchips, you are eliminated from the event. This is non-negotiable.
  63.
  64. If you join this event and do not do ANY matches for the entire event, you will not be counted in the final leaderboards. This means you cannot just enter the tournament, do nothing the entire time, and finish with 3 starchips. If you do this, you'll just be removed as an entrant altogether once the event ends, as if you never entered to begin with.
  65.
  66. The event officially begins on January 16th, 2021, at 12pm EST. You're welcome to talk to other entrants and set up matches prior to this date and time, but no matches can be done prior to that date/time.
  67.
  68. All matches MUST take place on the website Racetime.gg. Any matches done outside of Racetime.gg will not count towards Duelist Kingdom, and there will be NO EXCEPTIONS to this rule. If you forget, that sucks. :(
  69.
  70. There will be a Google Form used to report match results. This will make it far easier for me to keep track of matches and keep the leaderboards updated.
  71.
  72. When a match is completed, you MUST report the match USING THE MATCH-REPORTING GOOGLE FORM. (Link below in the "Links" section)
  73.
  74. ONLY ONE PERSON HAS TO REPORT THE MATCH USING THE GOOGLE FORM! I don't need both entrants reporting the same match, so talk to your opponent and agree on who is going to report the match beforehand.
  75.
  76. Starting on Friday, March 26th, at 12pm EST, you will be allowed to bet UP TO 3 STARCHIPS PER MATCH. You don't HAVE to bet that many, you can still bet 1 starchip like usual, but you'll be permitted to bet 2 or even 3 starchips in a match, provided your opponent agrees to it and bets the same amount. This will last for the final week of the main event, starting on March 26th at 12pm EST, and ending when the main event of Duelist Kingdom ends on April 2nd at 12pm EST.
  77.
  78. The main event will run until Friday, April 2nd, 2021, at 12pm EST. All matches MUST be completed by that time.
  79.
  80. Once the main event ends on April 2nd, the final phase of the tournament will begin.
  81.
  82. On April 2nd, the 8 people with the most starchips (the top 8 on the starchip leaderboard) will be entered into the final phase of Duelist Kingdom: a double elimination tournament bracket.
  83.
  84. All 8 entrants will begin this small tournament bracket on Friday, April 2nd, 2021, at 1pm EST. Again, it will be DOUBLE ELIMINATION (which means there will be a losers bracket).
  85.
  86. This double elimination tournament between the top 8 starchip holders will last for 2 weeks, ending by Friday, April 16th, 2021, at 1pm EST.
  87.
  88. This tournament bracket will be held to the same rules as all prior Forbidden Memories tournaments. It is up to the 8 entrants to contact their opponents, schedule their matches, and get them done.
  89.
  90. There are only 3 rounds in this small tournament, so 2 weeks should be plenty of time to complete it, even with it being double elimination.
  91.
  92. Please take this time frame into consideration when entering Duelist Kingdom. I'm willing to be flexible, but still.
  93.
  94. The winner of the Grand Finals of that 8 person tournament will be the overall winner of Duelist Kingdom, and will be crowned KING OF GAMES!
  95.
  96. Dont be a dick. You can be removed at any point for any reason if staff feel like you're just trying to cause problems for everyone else.
  97.

  99. FAQ (this may be updated as questions are asked):
  100. ---------
  101.
  102. Q: What if there is a tie for 8th place when April 2nd rolls around?
  103.
  104. A: If this happens, I will look back at both entrant's matches throughout Duelist Kingdom. I will average together all of their finished runs, and the person who finished their matches the fastest on average will be given 8th place.
