  11. Ok, this is my final release of these backpacks. After a few 56ker inquires I decided to compress the mod into a much smaller edition. This way I should have squashed any bugs that had been floating around. Also I've begun working on the next installment so for now this is the final one using these meshes. Also to those wonder I was finally able to contact Ent (the creator of the orginal backpack plug in. He gave his utmost permission to do my I pleased with this mod. So to him I give mega props. Thanks Ent.

  25. Still Read all this readme..some info no longer applies. That mainly is the whole setup process. Now just install the mod, then check the different backpack version folders and pick the one you like by the screenshot you see in the folder. Also if anyone can think of something that would make this better please let me know. 2nd also anyone can use anything from this mod they wish...not sure if I have said this before or not.

  35. IMPORTANT INFORMATION BELOW!!!!
  36. ---------------------------------
  37. Alright now to some important infomation to everyone. This mod was NOT endorsed by Ent himself. I have enclosed his readme which states in no unclear terms that his mod is NOT to be used without his permission. Models, scripts, esp, anything So being a nice guy I attempted to contact him. After a YEAR of emails going unretured, or even opened I decided to go ahead and release this as it stands. As far as I know no one has heard a peep from him for along time, and it really bothers me to release this without having his permission to do so. He has not to my (or many others as told to me) been active in any forums or spoke to anyone. So Ent if you are reading this and are upset I have released this then please email me at mainframeTM@yahoo.com, or contact me at the ES Forums under the handle Mainframe and let me know your thoughts..reguardless of good or ill..CONTACT ME!!!!!!

  41. Misc Stuff to talk about
  42.
  43.
  44. Alright now to cover some other things. As stated I've tried to contact Ent for about a year..but have worked on this for alittle over a year. In that time I've thought grand ideas of this mod...ranging from scripting them so that your weapon shows up on them and when you use it it is removed until you sheath it again. I've created many different backpack models, those range from my large backpack (for carrying those large hauls), to my small backpack for archers (looks good on woodelfs) Etc. However as much as I hate to admit scripting has baffled me so I've had to ask others to help out. And a few has told me they would, but then faded into the unknown and never heard from again. So this mixed with RL stuff has delayed even this small petty version of this mod to be released. So right now allow me to say I'm sorry for the amount of time that has passed from me first showing screen shots of this mod to now. Anyone who has followed this by now I"m sure thinks it nothing more then a backpack hoaxx, or perhaps me wanting to showoff something I"d never release..whatever. But here they are, for better or ill..in a watered down version. More of a replacer at present.
  45.
  46. TECH STUFF, and yeah IMPORTANT TECH STUFF
  47. ------------------------------------------
  48.
  49. First off I have enclosed a version of Ents Backpack plugin updated by me. Please use this version above all others. For some small changes have been made and are important changes.
  50.
  51. Ok now in the zip file you will see 3 different folders. The first is Ents orginal backpack stuff. Install this first. Then check out the other folder labled Different backpack versions and you will find 7 different types of backpacks. Check out the screenshots in each folder to pick the one you want. Then install this into your Morrowind Data Files folder and it will over write the files installed by Ents Plugin. Now follow the below steps incase your already using Ents Backpack, or another backpack mod. For inventorys safty sake. The 3rd folder can be left alone for now.
  52.
  53. 1. Take everything off your character
  54.
  55. 2. Remove the backpack
  56.
  57. 3. Do a clean save. This means with the backpack REMOVED, save your game & then reload it WITHOUT Ents backpack enabled. )You will get a few errors of little importance(
  58.
  59. 4. When the game is loaded WITHOUT Ents backpack, save on a new slot & then exit the game.
  60.
  61. 5. Install this plugin then, over writing any files that are from any previous installs of ENTS backpack plugin.
  62.
  63. 6. Enable the plugin, load up your save game and go and see Farin Hayoak about backpacks.
  64.
  65. 7. When a backpack is bought it will give you a dummy backpack, and then change to the correct one you want.
  66.
  67. And thats about it. Just make sure that you have no phantom weight in your inventory. you shouldn't, but MW can get weird sometimes.
  68.
  69.
  70. ---------------------------------------------
  71. Alright now to some people that has given permission for some stuff I have used.
  72.
  73. Hand of Sotha: Special thanks to him, for if not b/c of him I"d given up making these awhile back for many reasons. It seemed most times I couldn't figure something out, then I"d put this on the backburner and he'd be there inquiring about them. And which in turn got me off my duff and working again. Thanks to you 4 each 1 of those times. You hereby win the award of being this mods Grandfather, please remember to give it good advise should it come asking for some. =) Also thanks for being my beta tester.
  74.
  75. CI: awhile back I PMed her asking if I could use some of her textures to mix & match these backpacks to her robe replacer and she said I could. So most of the retextures are somewhat based on those. Thanks Ci, you make MW fun, and looking good.
  76.
  77. Resources Used without need of permission
  78. ----------------------------------------
  79.
  80. AlienSlof: I used the recently released BB textures of his for the neck meshes. The readme did not have any info about asking his permission for these to be used. Personnaly I think these are some of the best BB retextures I've seen. If you would like them they are called Slof's High-Rez Muscular Textures for Mortals & Vampires by AlienSlof, check them out.
  81.
  82. Silverware Enhancer by (no name given in readme..just his email address) ghostnull@hotmail.com: These are great silverwhere retextures, thanks for them.
  83.
  84. -------------------------
  85.
  86. And now a overall thanks to DarkRebis for his Ranger Robe, which was the start of all this 4 me. Orginally I took the backpack from his robe and replaced Ents, after seeking his permission and was happy to get it quickly. With the expressed saying I could use it anywhich way I pleased. Thank you Rebis.
  87.
  88. -------------------------------------------------------------
  89.
  90. Alright now some misc things I"ve noticed that might hamper your enjoyment of this plugin.
  91.
  92. If you install ANY version of Morrowind Comes Alive AFTER installing this plugin, then backpack models/textures will get overwrote and you WILL HAVE to install these from this plugin again. Being a fan of MCA I've had to do this myself from time to time.
  93.
  94. The plugin 4 this mod has NOT been fully tested after certain changes have been made. I do not believe this will cause any odd things to happen, which is why I didn't test it. But sometimes (again with MW) odd things do occur. If this is the case, then please contact me and I"ll change what needs changing.
  95.
  96. In fog or underwater the backpacks glow a white color, this isn't something I can change without changing the setup on how they remove weight from your inventory when used. They give you a constant feather effect and like with all magic items worn, have that look to them. I recommend using a no glow plug in which removes the effect most of the time. (0ther then when your in fog or water)
  97.
  98.
  99. ----------------------------------------------------------------
  100.
  101. Also enclosed in this zip is a 3rd folder which has nothing but screenshots of other backpacks I have created. I"ve enclosed this with the hopes of perhaps enticing someone with the scripting knowledge so I can continue this plugin and create the plugin I actually want. So if you see these screenshots and know how to script different functions on backpacks. IE: Showing your weapon on it when not in use, or removing the bedroll so that it can actually be used..then please contact me asap.
  102.
  103. ----------------------------------------------------------------
  104.
  105. In closing,
  106.
  107. If you have any questions, want to contact me and tell me how much you either hate or like this plugin..or have problems then contact me either at the ES forums under Mainframe, or email by yahoo account at MainframeTM@yahoo.com
