  1. I ran as hard as I could. The rain beating down on me helped numb my aching muscles and distract me from the warm blood seeping out of my side. I stomped the ground harder, step after step. I want to cough up and vomit but if I gave in, I'd be a dead man. Behind me, I could hear their movements. Multiple sets of powerful legs barely touching the ground and easily keeping just close enough behind me. They were toying with me. They wanted to see how far I could get. Tire me out.
  2.
  3. Why did I come here? Why was I here again? Why?
  4.
  5. The outstretch of near pitch black forest in front of me seemed endless. Ducking, dodging through all the greenery felt like a dream at this point. I was slowing down. Everything felt heavier. My chest hurt inside and out. I didn't even notice the thick tree in the clearing until the flash of pain on my face followed by the wet muddy ground on the back of my head.
  6.
  7. I struggled to get up but all it accomplished was giving me a good view of blood seeping out of me followed by the waiting bile in the pit of my stomach.
  8.
  9. They surrounded me. I could hear them snarling as loud as they. Their growls sounded like sharp steal being dragged along old concrete. Even if I started running again I know they could track me down easily. After emptying my stomach and taking some deep breaths I pulled out my pocket knife again and propped myself against the tree.
  10.
  11. Looking around was useless. I could barely see an inch past my own face. I tried waving my knife in front of me but I didn't hit anything besides the air. I don't know how long I was doing it but I felt something big and fuzzy smack my hand away and the knife right out of my loose grip. I gave up and sat against the tree, waiting for the bite that'll end me. The blood loss was making it hard to think straight.
  12.
  13. One of them laughed.
  14.
  15. "This one put up the longest fight and run in a long time! I think we found his perfect match!" What little light was on my face was blocked off by the menacing figure of the werewolf pack leader." He came close enough for me to smell what could only be raw meat and dried blood from some other poor creature. "Mmmhh. You got a nice scent to you. And you're a scraper. Fuck..." His wet nose pressed against me, tilting my head back and forth, absorbing a tiny amount of sweat off of me. "If only I had a few minutes with you..." He grabbed me by the head and gave me a long lick across my cheek. My vision cleared up enough to see his intimidating gold eyes and smoky black fur along with the disgusting wide tongue brush over my face. "Maybe I could get those minutes before handing you over..."
  16.
  17. I grit my teeth and sucker punched the monster, possibly breaking two or three knuckles over one strike over the strength I could muster and his dense skull. Every other werewolf around us all let out laughs that rattled me down to the bone. He didn't let go or increase his grip in response. He moved closer, looking me dead in the eyes as I tried to glare, looking either desperate or pathetic. Or both.
  18.
  19. "You're fucking perfect..." He growled out to me. "I can't wait to hear you slowly break down. The rest of your friends won't even compare." He easily hefted me up onto his huge body, his fur absorbing what blood was still leaking out of me and his hand firmly on my back. I closed my eyes with the sounds of howling wolves deafening my ears but too weak to do anything as I was taken away...
