  13. (fighting his fear)
  14. I don't know... I get this tingling in my
  15. brain, like some danger is lurking just
  16. ahead. I'm worried about Aunt May and
  17. Uncle Ben...

  19. CABBIE
  20. Your family?
  21.  
  22. SPIDER-MAN
  23. Well, they are kind of my parents. They
  24. raised me. I lost both of my parents in
  25. a car accident... please step on it!

  48. The TAXI skids and swerves like crazy, bumping into
  49. everything in sight.

  51. INT. BEN AND MAY'S BEDROOM - NIGHT

  53. A GLASS SHATTERS. AUNT MAY sits up in bed with a start.

  56. What's that?

  59. What? It's nothing... go back to sleep...
  60. (another crash)
  61. Oh, I'll go look. Go back to sleep.

  65. WEINER is going through the drawers. He finds a nice BONE
  66. HANDLE KNIFE and pockets it.

  69. Hmmm...

  71. INT. BEN AND MAY'S LIVING ROOM - NIGHT

  73. BEN descends the stairs from the bedroom. He peers off
  74. into the darkness and pulls his ROBE tight around him as
  75. if to ward off some unacknowledged danger.

  77. EXT. TAXI - NIGHT
  78.  
  79. TAXI driving fast through STREET.

  81. INT. TAXI - NIGHT

  83. CABBIE
  84. Some crazy kinda town, huh? You hear
  85. about that hold-up? The guy with the six
  86. arms? Hey, I see it all on this job.
  87. (a beat)
  88. What kinda outfit is that, anyway?

  91. (panicked)
  92. Look, I'm really in a hurry.
  93.  
  94. BANG! A BLOW OUT. The CABBIE fights the wheel to the
  95. side of the road. Then he turns to SPIDEY.

  97. CABBIE
  98. (sly)
  99. You said the magic words, we have a flat
  100. Boychick.
  101.  
  102. INT. BEN AND MAY'S FAMILY ROOM - NIGHT
  103.  
  104. BEN comes in and looks around. A long beat. Then a
  105. noise.

  107. BEN
  108. Mice...
  109.  
  110. INT. BEN AND MAY'S DINING ROOM - NIGHT
  111.  
  112. A very scared WEINER hides, eyes widening. WEINER takes
  113. the BONE HANDLE KNIFE from his pocket. It glints in the
  114. MOONLIGHT. He moves off.
  115.  
  116. INT. BEN AND MAY'S KITCHEN - NIGHT
  117.  
  118. BEN is looking for mice. He opens a closet. Nothing. He
  119. shifts around. Nothing. He moves off.
  120.  
  121. EXT. 59TH STREET BRIDGE - NIGHT
  122.  
  123. The CABBIE slowly changes the TIRE. Fearing the worst,
  124. SPIDEY gets out, looking for a ride. A TRUCK approaches.
  125. SPIDEY looks down at the CABBIE and then up at the TRUCK.

  127. CABBIE
  128. Hey! You wanna hand me that lug wrench?
  129.  
  130. He looks up to see SPIDEY go by, stuck to the side of the
  131. TRUCK like a spider.
  132.  
  133. CABBIE
  134. Some crazy kinda town...
  135.  
  136. EXT. THE TRUCK - NIGHT
  137.  
  138. SPIDEY stares at the lettering on the side of the TRUCK.
  139. It says, "Victory Sporting Goods."
  140.  
  141. SPIDER-MAN
  142. (a thought)
  143. Sporting goods...
  144.  
  145. INT. BEN AND MAY'S DINING ROOM - NIGHT
  146.  
  147. BEN comes in quietly. He looks around. He opens a
  148. closet. Nothing. He hears a CRASH. He wheels. A
  149. SHADOWY FIGURE runs by a doorway!
  150. BEN takes off like a shot!
  151.  
  152. INT. BEN AND MAY'S HOUSE - NIGHT
  153.  
  154. BEN runs through the rooms.
  155.  
  156. INT. BEN AND MAY'S FAMILY ROOM - NIGHT
  157.  
  158. BEN flies in and goes right to the RIFLE on the wall. WE
  159. hear WEINER clattering around the house in the background
  160. as BEN goes to a drawer and pulls out a BOX of BULLETS.
  161. He begins to fight the BULLETS into the RIFLE.
  162. WEINER comes flying in and tackles him. They fall to the
  163. floor, four hands on the RIFLE. They scuffle.
  164.  
  165. WEINER
  166. All I want it the kid's computer crap!
  167.  
  168. BEN
  169. Let go before I blow your brain's out.
  170.  
  171. EXT. FOREST HILLS STREET - NIGHT
  172.  
  173. The TRUCK pulls away leaving PETER in a POOL of STREET
  174. LAMP LIGHT. He's wearing a FOOTBALL JERSEY and SHORTS and
  175. carrying a SPORTS BAG. He begins to run.
  176.  
  177. INT. BEN AND MAY'S BEDROOM - NIGHT
  178.  
  179. MAY hears a CRASH. She pulls the covers up around her
  180. chin in fear.
  181.  
  182. BEN (V.O.)
  183. Let go!
  184.  
  185. WEINER (V.O.)
  186. You let go!
  187.  
  188. EXT. BEN AND MAY'S HOUSE - NIGHT
  189.  
  190. PETER runs up and hears a SHOT. He runs inside.
  191.  
  192. INT. BEN AND MAY'S FAMILY ROOM - NIGHT
  193.  
  194. PETER runs in. He sees WEINER standing there with the
  195. RIFLE. They face off across the room. The moment hits
  196. PETER like a punch in the chest.
  197.  
  198. PETER
  199. Uncle Ben!
  200.  
  201. BEN
  202. (a wheeze)
  203. Peter...
  204.  
  205. PETER rushes to BEN.
  206.  
  207. PETER
  208. Oh my God... Uncle Ben...
  209.  
  210. PETER tries to revive BEN, while WEINER runs out.
  211.  
  212. INT. HOSPITAL WAITING ROOM - NIGHT
  213.  
  214. PLASTIC FURNITURE, GARISH LIGHTING, CIGARETTES in the
  215. ASHTRAYS.
  216.  
  217. AUNT MAY
  218. (a brave but fragile front)
  219. Ben gets through everything. He'll be
  220. alright. The doctors are...
  221.  
  222. AUNT MAY and PETER embrace, leaning on each other for
  223. support.
  224.  
  225. DETECTIVE
  226. (compassionate)
  227. Excuse me. You the nephew?
  228.  
  229. PETER rises, nods. As AUNT MAY wipes away a sniffle...
  230.  
  231. DETECTIVE
  232. Your uncle's a brave man. Apparently,
  233. the perpetrator was after something of
  234. yours. Your uncle didn't know what it
  235. was but he stood up to him anyway. You
  236. ought to be proud of him.
  237.  
  238. PETER
  239. I am... how is he...
  240.  
  241. A grim-faced DOCTOR walks slowly across the room to
  242. them... MAY stands up slowly.
  243.  
  244. DETECTIVE
  245. Ask the Doctor.
  246.  
  247. AUNT MAY
  248. How's my... how's my husband doing...?
  249.  
  250. DOCTOR
  251. Mrs. Parker, I'm sorry. We tried.
