When I said the future was chaos, I did not expect it to be quite so literal. On the other hand... AMERICA.

Now, it's already established that I'm the President of the United States of America. Granted, the last time this actually MATTERED was when I was the funniest of Valentines. It wasn't so much a thing in the Fountain as America existed for less time than I spent there, and that would have been silly, but abruptly I'm thrust into the shoes of Michael Wilson, the 47rd President of the United States. Or, well... less Wilson and more Valentine, I suppose.

"But President Valentine!" I hear you say. "The Vice President has staged a coup and gotten the ENTIRE military to go along with it!"

That's pretty fucking crazy, but apparently this is Crazypants Memetic America as seen through the lens of Japan. There were two ways to play it, and for the most part... I decided to play it straight. The president's got a mech! He's going all-in, stomping tanks and beating up enemy mechs! Why does America have mechs?! Is this a thing that suddenly is possible in 2025? Who knows? We've got some crazier tanks and jets and helicopters!

Still. Craziness! Craziness everywhere. Craziness in poison gas being released in cities. Craziness in turning the White House into some sort of Fight House. Craziness in turning Alcatraz into some sort of giant cannon. Even craziness in having to catch a freaking rocket from Las Vegas to the Ultimate Weapon. In. Spaaace.

At which point I abandoned all pretense, shut down every and any bit of technology on the station I found myself on, and personally ripped a panicked Vice President Richard Hawk out of his completely non-functional mech and dragged him back planetside to face trial, along with a massive series of trials for the failed military coup that took place.

I was reelected in a landslide, and the reason is... I'm the goddamned President of the United States of America. Also because the jobs program that was put in place to fix all the damage was a hell of a shot to the economy.
