- Findings from the stuff I posted yesterday (https://pastebin.com/AfzkZRgm):
- 1. Since speedrunning is already such an arbitrary hobby, it falls apart pretty easily when challenged by anything. There's usually no "right" answer to problems.
- 2. Vast majority of people dislike hiding strats as it's likely just a temporary solution, others may enjoy the new strats, and others may find better applications for the new tech.
- - I agree, it's not a good solution. If the tech is super cancer people may just agree to not use it.
- 3. Many people would want to split categories even for fairly small timesaves (1min out of 28min)
- - I disagree, very few games have the competition to support multiple categories like that. Just run the route you want, you don't need a category for every one.
- 4. I don't think most people really care about the routing possibilities with speedtech, they're mostly concerned with how fun or cancer strats are to perform.
- - I find myself way less interested in the grind and way more interested in routing these days.
- 5. More people are solely motivated by lowering the time than I thought.
- 6. People love discussing speedruns
- 7. Twitter is not a great place for discussion but it's still somewhat effective
- 8. Always open with the pastebin context since most people won't notice your reply with it an hour later >(
