- [2012-12-02 01:40:13] <Cyrus> B-b-but I'm not on youtube right now!
- [2012-12-02 01:40:26] <DDK> :(
- [2012-12-02 01:40:42] <DDK> welp back to versailles
- [2012-12-02 01:40:48] <DDK> Jeanne was a magnificent bitch
- [2012-12-02 01:41:19] <DDK> not sure if I'd vote yes for her though
- [2012-12-02 01:43:16] <RMNDolphy> yeah, that's an odd choice for a nomination
- [2012-12-02 01:43:47] <DDK> I believe FOE-tan nominated her
- [2012-12-02 01:44:55] <DDK> she was definitely great at manipulating people, and held on till the very end
- [2012-12-02 01:45:47] <DDK> but beyond that, I don't really see much of a reason to induct her
- [2012-12-02 01:46:29] <RMNDolphy> she's not bad or anything, but she doesn't really stand out amongst the far superior cast
- [2012-12-02 01:47:47] <DDK> yeah, though from the looks of it she seemed to be an outlet for the public's hatred towards the nobility
- [2012-12-02 01:48:27] <DDK> but I still wouldn't say that was a direct result of her specific actions, since she was partly manipulated by an outside source
- [2012-12-02 02:03:08] <DDK> hmm goodness, It's tough coming up with an argument to support Watashi beyond just liking her sly, cynical remarks
- [2012-12-02 02:03:45] <DDK> at least with Nozomu I felt he was the primary instigator for the show's comedy and it wouldn't have progressed in the same manner without him
- [2012-12-02 02:04:17] <DDK> but Watashi is mostly reactionary in nature and doesn't seem to offer enough of her personal self compared to other travelers such as Kino, Ginko and Alpha
- [2012-12-02 02:04:45] <RMNDolphy> what did Kino offer?
- [2012-12-02 02:06:40] <DDK> The one thing about Kino is all of her actions are decided by her alone; her decision to go on her journey, her guidelines to only stay in each location for 3 nights etc. On top of that, her character remains constant over the course of the series, which may seem like a negative but considering the vast number of cultures she visits and experiences, speaks a lot to her internal strength
- [2012-12-02 02:07:16] <DDK> Kino is also honest and true to herself and others when she speaks her thoughts
- [2012-12-02 02:09:14] <RMNDolphy> eh, I don't know if I'd call being inert personality-wise in face of all the things she sees "strength".
- [2012-12-02 02:09:58] <RMNDolphy> It's been a while since I've seen Kino's Journey, but I don't recall her offering her opinion very often
- [2012-12-02 02:10:11] <RMNDolphy> she seemed objective to a fault
- [2012-12-02 02:11:41] <DDK> well, compared to most other characters who change as a result of their experiences, Kino's consistency was what I found to be remarkable, especially considering the nature of her journey
- [2012-12-02 02:12:10] <DDK> She didn't offer her opinion that often, but there were instances where the decisions she made confered a personal stance
- [2012-12-02 02:12:32] <DDK> such as during the colossieum arc, she single handedly chose to shoot the mad king instead of being able to seize power
- [2012-12-02 02:13:10] <DDK> it's just she tended to be much more quiet to the point of seeming emotionless based on the countless experiences she had coming into contact with humanity's negative sides
- [2012-12-02 02:13:18] <RMNDolphy> Yeah, but that kind of change should be seen as healthy, not lacking streangth. What's the point of going on a journy if literally nothing changes your inital outlook on things
- [2012-12-02 02:13:26] <RMNDolphy> strength
- [2012-12-02 02:14:17] <DDK> the prequel movie also depicted how Kino behaved and responded before setting out, which showed a stark contrast to the way she is now
- [2012-12-02 02:15:17] <DDK> also, not all journeys will result in positive changes. After being confronted with adversity and the true horrors of civilization, being able to keep your wits about and stay true to oneself is harder than it seems
- [2012-12-02 02:15:51] <DDK> there's also the fact that the journey was not told in a completely linear manner in the anime, making it difficult at times to be able to track Kino's progression
