- ####Elick 1:
- * Meta is still Meta I know what he does.
- * Kumoko---much better statpost! Webs slice rocks, collapse cave wall, aren't cut by swords. Various spells.
- * Kumoko fights cautiously, will spread webtraps and try to maximise advantage before engaging.
- * Kumoko uses clairvoyance to instantly know where Team Corv are. Will lay down massive web traps, which she keeps out of Meta's way by using remote control over them. Has parallel minds to keep track of all this.
- * Sabretooth's stealth doesn't work bc Kumoko has a minimap.
- * Sabretooth gets floored by weaker impacts than Meta's striking
- Might've been worth it to track down the aftermath of him taking this blow, since as it is, it just shows him being hit, but not how badly it stuns him after.
- * Kumoko sees stats, abilities, knows what enemy is capable of to plan around.
- * Kumoko throws Team Corv out the building. Sabretooth has no way of getting back up.
- * Magik will hate Sabretooth and won't go out of her way to save him.
- * Even if web can't hold Sabretooth Kumoko will just teleport him out. She can tank his claws and heavy damage to her body w/out issue. Even if he holds onto her she'll just teleport away a piece of her body with him.
- * Magik gets downed by worse striking than Meta's. Kumoko can cut her apart w/ webs that slice stone. Similar threads cut metal.
- * Team Elick have full control over the engagement. Even if Team Corv somehow corner them they can teleport away and try again. Sabretooth conversely won't retreat bc he's a macho dickhead.
- * Kumoko is extremely resilient to injury and won't go down to a clean hit.
- * Conversely, clean hit from Meta or Kumoko will floor/incap Sabretooth.
- ####Corv 1:
- * Magik is a bullet timer, even nerfed
- * Sabretooth scales to Wolverine, who cuts arrows, bullets out of air.
- The "bullet times as well" feat is of dart guns.
- * Scales to X-23, Nightcrawler, Iron Fist, catches RPG, generally is fast.
- * Magik's sword cuts through concrete, metal, craters ground with blocked strike. Sabretooth's claws cut foot of osmium & he busts bigly rock/concrete/metal with his strikes.
- * Elick has stipped Kumoko at a point where she doesn't get to have parallel minds.
- * Meta's time stop is limited and localised. Magic will just catch him if he's BFRd and counter-BFRs Meta/Kumoko.
- * Magik is a good team fighter and has worked with enemies in past. Sabretooth also works with people he hates as a regular thing. Magik/Victor do not have specific beef with each other and will work together fine.
- * Kumoko and Meta have numerous communication challenges (language barrier, meta is mute, kumoko is shy, personality clash)
- * Kumoko needs to use her astral projection to look through every floor of the building manually. Significantly worse scrying than Magik's, who can just ask to be shown her enemies.
- * Kumoko can't scry into limbo. Breaching dimensions is specifically really hard in Kumoko's magic system.
- * Kumoko can't set traps and scry for Corv's team at the same time. One or the other.
- * Appraisal doesn't work from long range. No remote stat reads.
- * Kumoko couldn't sense Magik's portals because they're X-gene related, not magic related.
- * Magik is good at adapting to new magic systems, can trace Kumoko's remote spells back to source.
- * Sabretooth's senses extend for miles & he can read specific moods/alertness/powers/weapons of his enemies.
- * Magik's go-to finisher is to BFR using portals. She can spawn portals at relevant speeds to dodge or intercept gunfire. Can teleport remotely.
- * Neither Kumoko or Meta are adequately fast/aerially mobile to avoid the portals.
- * Magik's portals let her control the engagement, stage ambushes, etc. Sabretooth further augments this because he's got a gun and he's a good shot.
- * Kumoko got snuck up on by a giant bee. Sabretooth out-stealths ninjas & evades high tech motion sensors.
- * Meta's reactions aren't good enough to proc time stop in time to use it to dodge.
- * Even if timestop goes off as planned it only gives Meta one good hit and Sabretooth can take it. Smashed up to waist in stone, heals off full body incineration. Exploits healing factor to play possum and surprise enemies.
- * Magik can teleport out of full-body restraints like the webbing. Sabretooth just flexes out or cuts it with his claws.
- * Magik's sword dispells enchantments, Will mess w/ Kumoko's magic. Can extend this to shield Sabretooth from offensive magic too.
- * Magik can disperse poison gas w/ portals, summon gas masks, cuts poison w/ her sword. Sabretooth tanks poison w/ healing factor.
- ####Elick 2:
- * "Kumoko has parallel minds stipped out" is guyposting like the godzilla ikea argument
- Didn't that one win tho?
- * Mindset stip doesn't imply removal of abilities.
- I think I'm sympathetic to this.
- * Kumoko learns a whole language based on brief exposure to it. Kumoko went to school in Japan, and thus, took English class.
- * Kumoko played Far Cry so she knows about Halo and think Meta is very cool
- Does she? I can easily see a person being a fan of Far Cry but not really liking Halo.
- * Kumoko doesn't need to work with Meta she just works around him being a berserker and doing his own thing.
- Yeah that seemed like the game plan from the start.
- * Parallel minds let her micromanage trapmaking and scanning at once.
- * Kumoko's parallel mind overrides an anti-magic field without her even noticing. Magik's counter-spell gets countered.
- * Kumoko herself has an anti-magic skill.
- * Corv has conceded Kumoko being able to read skills from his team which means better info. Kumoko personally blocks magical insight of herself.
- * Kumoko copies and improves on magic she sees people perform. Can steal spells from Magik.
- * Magik's scrying feats are of targets she already has familiarity with. Could be fooled by invis/illusion.
- * Kumoko has passive motion sensing that detects a bunker through the ground. Will know immediately where Magik needs to go through process of activating her mirror.
- * Kumoko can sense teleportation spells down to fine details specific to the magic user. Will know if Magik is teleporting.
- * Mutant abilities are a skill
- I'm not sure if that's what this scan is saying.
- * Kumoko can use appraisal through remote vision. Should be apply to apply marking/tracking as well.
- * Kumoko has answers to the teleport BFR and can copy Magik's portals to retrieve Meta.
- * Kumoko's divinity field allows for non-intended power interactions within her magic system
- ####Corv 2:
- * The guypost worked.
- * If Elick doesn't want his stipulations turned against him he should have worded them better.
- * Kumoko locked away her parallel minds after they became corrupted and evil. She can no longer control them. She can't delegate tasks to be performed subconsciously.
- * Explicit scan of Kumoko getting ambushed because she had to focus on only one thing at a time---"My parallel minds always handle that… but I turned those guys off!"
- * Kumoko keeps detection on low sensitivity by default and it doesn't have feats for half a mile of range between the spawn points.
- * Magik's mirror would show Kumoko and not illusions of herself bc that's what she asked it for.
- * Sabretooth sees in infrared, would see through illusions.
- * Takedown of Appraisal skill. Elick's scan claiming it works doesn't say that. Appraisal doesn't work on beings who exist outside the game-system of Kumoko's world. Magik and Sabretooth exist outside the game-system so they can't be appraised.
- * Even if it worked Magik has such a shitload of abilities Kumoko would have to take time to physically examine each of them from a list, which would waste her time and distract her.
- * Kumoko's Appraisal wouldn't give her definitions of Marvel universe specific terms like "adamantium" and Magik's various named spells. The only way Appraisal can be updated w/ information it doesn't already have is if the gods of her world manually edit it and they're not here.
- * Kumoko can copy spells in her universe bc they're based off a runic alphabet so she can just draw them. Magik's magic is not.
- * Kumoko's anti magic is cancelled out by other anti-magic. Soul Sword has more magic juju than Kumoko anyway.
- * "Magik has feats of using and defeating extradimensional magic, and Kumoko does not."
- * Kumoko and her magic operate in the span of "seconds"---Magik will overwhelm her with the speed of her magic
- * Playing Far Cry doesn't mean you speak english or know about Halo. Elick also argued Kumoko would work *around* not with Meta.
- * Language acquisition isn't instant
- * If Kumoko follows Meta when he leaves to go attack the enemy, it would disrupt her trap-setting. If she lets him go off on his own, it becomes 2v1.
- * If Kumoko isn't communicating with Meta she can't even point him in the right direction of where to find the enemy.
- * Kumoko's attack spells are slow. Magik's portals / Sabretooth and his gun are not.
- ####Result:
- Things I Buy:
- * I think Kumoko can acquire English in a reasonable amount of time. Elick is right she probably already has some background simply based on being a high school student in Japan.
- * Kumoko's piercing webs would kill Magik if they landed and are meaningfully threatening to Sabretooth given time to wear him down.
- * Kumoko is extremely survivable vs injury, if not as much as Sabretooth.
- * Meta is reasonably physically comparable to Sabretooth, though with significantly less staying power.
- * Meta could potentially get a free hit on Sabretooth using time stop.
- * Magik's magic is faster than Kumoko's.
- * Magik's scrying works as outlined
- * Magik's sword overcomes Kumoko's anti-magic and can heal away her poison.
- * Sabretooth can survive any individual attack Team Elick can output, and can functionally ignore Meta's gun or Kumoko's poison.
- * Sabretooth's claws or Magik's sword kill Meta and maim Kumoko.
- * Magik & Sabretooth work together fine.
- Things I Don't:
- * Magik/Sabretooth exist outside of Kumoko's game system and can't be read by Appraisal. FWIW I would've accepted a stip to treat Kumoko's enemies as part of the System for purposes of the debate, same as Todo's Cursed Energy stip but hindsight is 20/20.
- * Kumoko's parallel minds are sealed away at this point in the story and she doesn't have control over them.
- * Kumoko probably can't copy Magik's spells.
- * Kumoko's motion sensing is not on high by default, and its range is worse than Sabretooth's senses.
- * Throwing Team Corv out of the building isn't a viable BFR. Magik can return them, and they're both durable enough they would probably survive the fall.
- * Kumoko has no intrinsic reason to respect Meta and their behaviour is not complementary.
- * I don't think Magik summoning clothes necessarily means she has a gas mask in reserve.
- **Corv Wins.**
- Losing the parallel minds to plot context really hampered Elick's articulated strategy.
- I fully do believe Kumoko could effectively set traps, scout for the enemy, and direct Meta, just not all at once given she's unable to use remote vision without being snuck up on.
- Team Corv's portal mobility also bypasses Kumoko's area lockdown using the webs, further exasperating the issue, and the fact that Team Corv has demonstrably better teamwork than Team Elick is just icing on the cake.
- I think part of this comes down to an unfortunate matchup---I think both teams' attacks are theoretically dangerous to each other, but Magik does the teleportation schtick better than Kumoko and negates her spells, while Sabretooth simply outlasts Meta with the healing factor even accounting for a free hit using timestop.
