I've looked at this jump like a dozen times. I've scoured wiikis, tried to learn the lore that is Yugioh, watched Twitch streams
I still don't get it

Neat! A species genetically predisposed towards reaching the singularity all at once. Yes, their methods might be...primitive but it's the thought that counts. 'sides, I'm mostly made of light. From anyone else's point of view it's like watching a tide of worms(?) leap into a sunbeam. And turning into angels. Like those japanese koi! HUZZAH FOR WORM FRIENDS!

Have to do something about that singing voice, though. They're so bad at it, they keep rupturing space-time when I tried teaching them the song of creation. Actually to be honest, I'm not a real big fan of this whole "mindlessly reproduce and consume" thing, I've gotta teach them about the finer things in life. The fine arts, philosophy, cookery-aha! I've an idea, we should find that Sacred Tree my guests told me about and mutate into a super-worm that can do leylines like it! In SPACE!

Speaking of my guests, I'll be escorting them on worm-boat, atop the floating worm-ocean of worms I'm worming together into one, big wormy floating ocean. It's clearly too unsafe to walk the earth when there's demonic forces around. In fact, I'm going to bring my newly ascended worm legions to see the other races of this world. I'm sure they'll be THRILLED to see such a powerful force ready and able to defend their world from the dem-

Once, we were a proud and noble race. Our tunnels of space-time stretched across the stars. Our farms birthed and devoured entire worlds. Together, we saved the universe from itself! But then a FOOLISH and misguided Decisive Armor stepped forth, seeking to undo the love that is Worms! As the final blow was struck, my very essence fled into a noble among nobles and tore open a portal into the future. Now, the foolish goddess behind that assassin seeks to go back to the past and undo the future that is WORMS!

And so peace spread throughout the land, united in the embrace of WORMS. My cosmic peristalsis intensified, cycling faith through the Shepherd of Light-process that refined faith into true divinity. Until one goddess was left encircled.

The goddess tries to create, and worms of destruction gnaw through her light, her delicious divinity.

The goddess tries to destroy, and worms of creation split apart, exponentially growing and folding around her.

The goddess threatens. The goddess commands. The goddess dimly recollects another lifetime when mother and son fought. The goddess attempts to fathom a motivation in her adversary, even as the bulwark of her power strains against the cosmic wave of worms pouring down on her. Straining to assert her divinity. Shoring up pride with desperation. Ignoring the very first worm that lands on her skin.

Even when worms helpfully rebuild the world, the goddess is still imprisoned in her own body by her rejection of worms.

The hell is going on in this world. Frieza appears to be defending the Earth from...some kind of memetic energy entity? Why am I sitting in an abadoned train station, playing with dolls? Why is Adorjan and THE Doll wrestling a crazy demon yandere outside my doorstep?

Apparently this is Yugioh. Better grab the Pot of Greed and Wind-Up Kitten before I do anything else.

At least today's roster of companions seems to be having fun with the whole sentai thing, or at least beating up other light-addled sentai rangers. My plan to defeat Yami is much less dramatic:

I guess this seems like a world of swords and sorcery. A world of ADVENTURE and FORBIDDEN LORE, where adventure awaits around every corner.

Too bad the main adventures I'm embarking on, are seeing how far even the rules-light world Yugi lives in is willing to go before actually banning something.

Once, I took a nap and woke up to a morphing jar cowering away from The Doll.

...I feel like there should be some backstory for how I met my party, in this world where rival factions aren't arbitrarily put on the same side depending on the deck of cards they're in. Let's see-the magician girl came looking for a legendary wizard of great renown, and found some paladin training in the arts of the D instead. We set off on a grand adventure to find out what the hell Exodia is, and why everyone wants it. Along the way the Amazon Queen tried to take Exodia for herself, and joined our party after a few recurring bossfights. And the fanclub joined us because they thought we were LOOKING for Exodia, and then tagged along anyway for dark magician autographs.
