- “…What’s going on in here?”
- The goddess with bright red-orange hair nearly dropped her computer at Ranthael’s sudden announcement. She had been so entrenched in her work that she didn’t hear him approach.
- “O-oh! Um, I…”
- “And what is THAT?”
- Cayenne looked over to the humanoid android she was working on. Though much of the inner workings were still a work in progress, the frame was nearly complete. The head in particular was finely detailed, and Cayenne prided the combined efforts of Simon and Rembrandt in their ability to shape it so close to the original.
- “It’s uh… It’s Ranthai.”
- Ranthael blinked. “Ranthai?”
- Cayenne looked down and tapped her index fingers together. “Well, Simon was pushing for Aithael, but I think Ranthai sounds a little nicer…”
- “What’s a Ranthai!?” Ranthael asked. “Why are you making a robot of me?”
- “Well, we were talking, and, you know, we wanted to make sure your legacy persisted after your soul leaves this place…”
- “I’M NOT DYING.”
- “Oh.” Cayenne looked back and forth between the robot and Ranthael. “Um, well, I guess it might be helpful still. Like, you can’t be in two places at once so… Or, maybe you can…”
- Ranthael sighed. “Well, at least it isn’t the strangest thing someone has modeled after me. Fine, tell me what this… Ranthai can do.”
- Cayenne’s face brightened up. “Oh! Of course. Well, see here…” Cayenne pushed a button, and the tips of the metallic hair on the robot’s head where Ranthael’s blue streaks would have been lit up in a rainbow gradient of color. “We thought having a bit of customization would be neat. I think the red looks rather striking… Um, and here’s a survey that can help us with the personality module…”
- Cayenne handed Ranthael the laptop she was working on. The web page was opened to a simple survey with a number of questions asking about Ranthael’s perceived personality and any important experiences with him. He scrolled down to the link to see what other people had already answered.
- “W-what are these answers!? ‘What other functionality would you like to see?’”
- “H-hey, don’t kinkshame the sexbot industry!” Cayenne said, cheeks flaring. “A-a lot of great innovations have come from there!”
- “Ugh…” Ranthael pushed the computer away. “Just… just don’t make this a canon character, alright?”
- An impish smile crawled onto Cayenne’s face. “…can I?”
- “No.”
- “Please?”
- “NO.”
