  1. Wavebreak was, before Veloden arose, a pirate hold, a land of rough and hard men, who amid their living raiding and pillaging their neighbors to make their living. That all ended when the pirate lords stood against the First true emperor and fell, and fell hard. The lands were torched and many of the people of the once large pirate town killed.

  3. Then the Magoclasm started. The men of Wavebreak were hardy and stout, and spent much of the magoclasm hunting the kraken, undine and mermaids of the ocean instead of joining in the screaming of other more religious peasantry. Only at the height, when thing were their worse did they join the fighting, no clear favor towards one side or another. As such wavebreak did not suffer a second burning at the hands of the rebels, nor the royalists.

  5. During the Rebellions, The Order of the Azure Wave was formed. It was made with one clear goal in mind, to put to use the staunch and stalwart men of Wavebreak to put down the rebels and break their sea-faring power. They attacked the task with ruthless abandon, raiding, pillaging, attacking from the seas quickly and then vanishing like ghosts, even throughout the centuries this they remembered and took too. Unfortunately even with the alacrity and fervor of the order the rebels successfully separated from the empire, and Polinia now empire aligned, made the order quickly wane into obsoletion. Even the Solstice war did not bring about much change much, the men of the order marched to war, but were mostly used to guard areas rather than fight, the marines wasted in defensive measures.

  7. Regionally Wavebreak is a small coastal town, neither well looked upon nor disfavored by sailors, it simply is. The men of Wavebreak have been strongly religious one way or the other. They ocean cares not for the views of man, and it still hold wonders, and terrors for those who sail on it long enough or dive too deeply. This is known, no matter what the Triarchs or Salubrians say. Life, economy and business all revolves around the sea. Ships go out and fish, whale, hunt, explore and trade goods for the men and women to live off of. The smiths, shipyards and lumber from the woods all goes towards making or repairing ships, as the land is of poor quality for farming.

  9. The people of Wavebreak are perhaps more insular than they should be. They scorn the faiths or the Triarchs or the Salubrinians. They could be considered pagans, but even that would not be quite correct, at least not in the sense of how I is commonly viewed. They are at once worshipful and wary of the sea, and many are the man who indulges in odd rituals to ensure a safe voyage and not draw the ire of the waters. This in turn has made them untrusting of outsiders and scornful of Imperial law, to a point at least. Smuggling, corruption, public drunkenness, brawling, gambling, all goes on in the town without a bat of the eye. To a newcomer this looks like utter lawlessness, but this s not the case. The people of Wavebreak have their own internal code, and those who break it, the murderers, wife beaters, pedophiles, traitors and backstabbers, they quickly end up punished, most often by having their throats slit and left bleeding out in a gutter. Further abroad the Order keep the sea lanes, such as they are clear of pirates and raiders. Wavebreak itself a veritable mire of stones and morass aids in this as they can attack from seemingly nowhere, and few are the people who can navigate the land without a native's aid, barring the official seaport, which is heavily guarded. Because they cut into their take of taxes and would bring Imperial eye back onto the town, which is never a good thing.
