  1. We had walked westward for numerous hours, and covered a great deal of ground despite traveling by foot. If we keep this up, we should reach the forest of whatever in less than half a day, and get back on track. The three of us decided to stop once it was dusk, and made camp at the base of a giant tree covered in a thick layer of moss in a nearby forest.
  2. Our traveling had left my two companions exhausted. Ami was laying face-down on the grass covered ground and groaning loudly. Sarah fell asleep while sitting up on a nearby rock, and had a partially chewed piece of dried pork in her mouth. Any attempts at removing it result in her growling in her sleep and snacking the ground with her tail. I was unaffected by our trek, since I'm used to this from years of running around.
  3. I take a seat on a log covered in spotted grey mushrooms and debate making a fire or not. To be honest, as much as I love making and being around a warm fire, it might attract unwanted attention. Maybe I'm over thinking things, but the thought of making a fire with the possibility of being followed by Mercenaries, as well as being in Werewolf country, sounds like a pretty bad idea. I'll just have to go without one for tonight, and be on alert for anything.
  4. ??
  5. Ami crawls her way over to me and looks at me with glittering eyes, "Hey, can you make a fire before it gets cold? Please?" I do my best to ignore the look she's giving me and respond to her, "Sorry, but we're going without one for the night."
  6. "Mmmmgrmmm" The Kitsune grumbles and pouts. "Don't fret too much." I console her while petting the top of her head, "I'll make it up to you."
  7. "So you say. Anyway, what do you know about the local area?"
  8. "I know which plants, mushrooms, and such are safe to eat and which ones aren't. I also know that the local moss growing on this part of the continent can be used to force a person to sleep if eaten-"
  9. Ami shakes her head and tail in perfect unison, "No, I'm talking about important things!"
  10. "That stuff isn't important to know?"
  11. "No, it isn't! I want to hear about what you might know about the Forest of Spirits!"
  12. "Well, I don't know a thing, to be honest."
  13. "Bah! Then I'll talk!" Ami gets up and takes a seat in front of me, "I heard that it's the home of one of the Great Spirits! And that there might be valuable treasures about!" Ami begins going on about details related to our current destination while flailing her arms about and pointing at nonexistent things. Now that I think about it, she's pretty off. Is this a trait shared by her race, or something unique?
  14. "The same could be said about any place with spiritual entities in it."
  15. "You don't sound very enthusiastic about this. Most adventurers would give up their gnads for a chance to acquire a Great Spirit's power."
  16. ....Gnads? "I don't really care for getting stronger, I'm good enough as I am now. Not to mention this seems pretty dubious."
  17. Ami's ears perk up as a smile forms on her face, "Good enough as you are now? Do you know some ultimate attack or secret sword skills?!"
  18. "No." I say flatly.
  19. "You don't know anything flashy or spectacular?"
  20. "The closest thing I can do is throw dirt into someone's eyes."
  21. "...You're pretty boring, you know? I thought you'd have sword beams, or a magical sword that activates when you call out its name..."
  22. "Sorry for not living up to your expectations." I flick the Fox girl in the ear, resulting in her lightly yelping, which causes Sarah to jerk and fall over, "I'm just your average wandering bum."
  23. Ami rubs her ear, "Please don't flick me there!" I flick her once more, but this time in the other ear. She yelps once more. This could provide a few hours of fun-
  24. ?!
  25. A branch snaps nearby, followed by some fairly heavy sounding footsteps. It seems we really were followed...
  26. I stand up and turn towards the source, and see two new faces. One is an extremely tall bald man with equal amounts of muscle, scars, and fat. He has steal plate armor covering his right arm and leg, and is wielding an enormous weapon that looks like a giant pointed slab of iron on a pole with both hands. The other is a man of average height, with long and glittering blonde hair. He is wearing a full suit of white armor covered in intricate carvings, with a matching shield on his right arm and a mace in his left hand.
  27. The large man lets out a deep and bellowing chuckle as the blonde man bows courteously, "Greeting, Glen. We, The Goldwin Brothers, will be the ones to claim your bounty and the fame that will come with it!" The blonde man then poses and moans in a disturbing fashion while pointing at me. I gesture at Ami get Sarah and move away from here. She quickly does so, and drags the still sleeping, and heavy, Dragon away from us. I draw my sword from its sheath and quickly analyze the two people in front of me. The tall one is obviously strong, without a doubt, but he appears to be having trouble holding up his own weapon judging by the way he's holding it. His attacks will most likely be slow, but I should be prepared for him to make up for that in any way.
  28. The blonde guy looks overly confident, like a knight. Chances are he probably was or is one. His mace will cause terrible damage if it connects, though his shield looks like an ordinary kite shield from its shape. The armor he wears looks very sturdy, but has an obvious weak point around the neck, and possible ones elsewhere. He may play defensively, and attack only when the proper chance appears, or go all out, and try to overpower me with rapid swings. Either way, he will be the more troublesome one to deal with. I'll be in serious trouble if the two of them come at me at once, even more so if they're well coordinated.
  29. The blonde haired man turns towards his brother and shines a smile at him, "Now then, would you like to go first, George?" The other man, or George, smiles and bellows out another few laughs, "Oh? Yer bein' most generous, Albert."
  30. "I'm always generous when it comes to family! Besides, 2 on 1 battles are so unfair."
  31. "Of course, Bro!" George begins walking towards me, making larges THUMPS with each step he takes. Normally a person would be trembling at the sight of a large man walking towards them with an enormous weapon and the intent of harming them, but I keep calm as the hulking man comes close to me. He stops not too far away and leers down at me, "Ya ready to lose to me, shorty?" I scoff and smirk at the tall guy, "Quite confident, aren't you?"
  32. "Course! Me and Bertha will be more than enough to take ya down!" He lovingly strokes his weapon before raising it above his head, "Here I come!" Oh great, he named his weapon...
  33. He swings his obscure weapon, which looks like a war pick, anvil, and hammer had a threeway and this was the result, down at me with tremendous amounts of force. I merely take a step back, and watch as his weapon slowly and violently rips through the space I was previously occupying. It crashes down into the ground below, tearing apart the earth and anything else in its path. I clap my hands and jeer at George, "Amazing! you're quite skilled at hitting the ground! I would be in trouble if you were aiming at me!" This enrages him, and he takes another swing at me. His large weapon comes crashing down once more, this time in a diagonal arc. I dodge his slow attack once again, and attempt to deliver a quick and precise attack to his neck while he's vulnerable.
  34. I almost manage to slash his neck open, but George manages to save himself from a fatal blow at the cost of using his left arm as a shield against my attack. He loses three fingers and now has a badly cut up arm from doing so, but he's still alive because of it. He quickly puts pressure on his arm and begins gritting his teeth in pain, "Dammit!"
  35. How frustrating... I didn't kill him, but he won't be able to use that giant weapon of his anymore since he needed both hands in working condition to do so... Oh well, he won't be much of a threat now, unless he were to pull another weapon that he can wield one-handed out of thin air.
  36. "George, let's retreat." Albert speaks up towards his brother. George turns his head towards Albert and looks at him with a pained expression, "But-"
  37. "No 'buts'. We need to get that wound of yours taken care of post-haste!" The Albert wags a finger at his brother. George gets up and runs off in an impressive display of speed, leaving his weapon behind. Albert points at me and runs a hand through his hair, "We'll meet each other once more! Don't think this will ever be our last appearance!" He then turns around and runs off after his brother, leaving behind a trail of glitter in his steps.
  38. ........
  39. I sheathe my sword and crack my jaw in confusion. That was...odd...to say the least.
  40. "Wow, you're amazing!" An unfamiliar woman with long dark green hair and fluffy ears pokes her head out from behind a nearby tree, her tail poking out the other side, and shouts out in a youthful and upbeat tone while her eyes sparkle with amazement. She appears to be around 16 years old.
  41. "...So cool..." Another unfamiliar woman with fluffy ears, this time with medium length black hair, pokes her head out of a bush and speaks up in a very quiet voice. This one looks about 15 years old.
  42. A third one, with shaggy reddish-brown hair, appears from behind the first one with a hand over her mouth, "Ara, he certainly isn't ordinary." This one appears to be about 25 in appearance, but she might even be older than that.
  43. Oh, grand. Werewolves.
  44. "So what should we do? what should we do?" The wolf girl with green hair looks at the other two while wagging her tail in excitement.
  45. "....." The one with black hair merely looks back and forth between me and the other two, and doesn't say anything.
  46. "Why not take him for ourselves, before the Matriarch does?" The one with reddish-brown hair eyeballs me in a lewd manner while sucking on her finger, or claw, whatever it is.
  47. "Eh?! I don't want to share with you!"
  48. ".......Me neither....."
  49. "You two!"
  50. In a matter of seconds, the three of them begin to attack each other in a loud and overly obvious fashion. I watch the three of them claw, bite, and wrestle each other for a few minutes, before leaving to go find Ami and Sarah. As I did this, I could hear what sounded like clothing ripping coming from where the Werewolf girls were fighting. I walk down a trail made by something large being dragged along the ground for over ten minutes, before meeting back up with the twin tailed Fox girl and the still sleeping Dragon.
  51. "There you are!" Ami breaths a sigh of relief while sitting atop Sarah's chest, using her as a make-shift chair, "Did you deal with them?"
  52. I walk up to her and flick her in the ear once more, causing her to yelp out once more, "Somewhat. Anyway, get some rest, we're moving out soon."
  53. "F-fine, but stop flicking me in the ear!"
  54. "Maybe."
