  1. [19:23] The forces of Gaiar drew close with their attack. The defenses of Tongyishan would be manned by the men and women that were there. Scorpions fired upon the hordes of Demons and mages, and amongst the rain of attacks would be bullets and rotting miasmas of blood and rot. Angelic wings hold Ikkaku aloft as a blue power surrounds them, striking downwards towards the onslaught of Gaiar forces below.
  2.
  3. It was lucky the mountain had only one entrance in a way; It was all concentrated and the people had to focus their fire upon only one spot. The Regent could only hope it was enough. A barrage of power flew from their hands, striking down a Demon before taking flight into the battle below. Telekinetic force flew in every direction as Ikkaku came downwards..
  4.
  5. Mages were to be defeated this day after all.
  6. (Ikkaku Ukitake)
  7.
  8. -----------------------
  9.
  10. [19:27] The Valmasian was quick to arrive alongside the attacking forces- though something was completely off about him.
  11.
  12. He was pale. White. Pristine. Not a single scratch or injury lay upon the swordsman's body. A bit off, considering how many fights he had gotten into- Ikkaku should know.
  13.
  14. A pale blue eyed gaze would be shot towards Ikkaku, amidst of all the combat ensuing around. Reaching over his shoulder, he'd grip the hilt of his blade, unsheathing it. Cosmic power would grow upon his back, forming into ethereal wings, just the sight of it near blinding. Energy would surge and fierce winds would grow around him.
  15.
  16. "..Ikkaku Ukitake."
  17.
  18. "Will you meet the same fate as your friend, Arie Hon? You know- I must commend you, there's nothing more that I love than a nationalist who would fight to the bitter end for his people.."
  19. (Usiel Anauel)
  20.
  21. ----------------------
  22.
  23. [19:48] As the blade of the swordsman collides with the staff of the Regent, sky blue eyes stare into Usiel's. For a minute the world seems to freeze, only recognizing the face which they stared into. An exhale.
  24.
  25. "You."
  26.
  27. A typhoon tears the swordsman away from the Regent. "You killed Edge, and by your words.. I'd bet you killed Arie too." There was a swallow beneath the mask as rotting miasmas of purple and red blood flowed forth from vials and pelted the swordsman, knocking them off their feet, then off their knees.
  28.
  29. "You killed two good men. A commander who wanted to protect his people and wasn't soft; A man who arrested the monster Tanka. And for what? The desires of demons? To be a creature under their command?"
  30.
  31. The Regent brings a telekinetic force down upon Usiel, and like a hundred strings wrapping around the foe they would be held in place. Sky blue eyes stared the swordsman down.
  32.
  33. "You will perish here."
  34.
  35. The blood in Usiel's veins would turn to ice, freezing them. Yet.. They wouldn't be dead, quiet yet. The Angelic wings lifted Ikkaku up as telekinetic force hefted Usiel upwards. If there was luck, it appeared the Regent had the intent to separate them from the rest, recalling the interruption when they had attempted to fight Somnus.
  36.
  37. "Take your time to repent and say your last words."
  38. (Ikkaku Ukitake)
  39.
  40. ------------------
  41.
  42. [20:17] The telekinetic force was truly too powerful, one that almost matched the potency of Tragedy's. Being pelted to the ground, he now lay just barely sitting up, pale blue eyes locked onto his.
  43.
  44. "I killed them. I killed them both. And let it be known, I granted them the perfect death."
  45.
  46. the one of a soldier.
  47.
  48. Slow breathing accompanied his words, harsh- near heaving, but it was held back so he was audible. He grew pale on the inside, prepared to meet his grim, dark fate.
  49.
  50. "Your commander was tired of fighting for such ungrateful people, such as the ones that sat around in Jianghu. I gave him a fitting end, the one of a hero. And he is remembered."
  51.
  52. A moment of silence. How.. unfortunate. He spoke in retortion to his words of perishing.
  53.
  54. "..so be it, Ukitake."
  55.
  56. His vision grew dim as the blood in his veins slowly turned to ice, the Valmasian hanging onto life by a thin thread. Being brought into the air would atleast relieve a little pressure, the one of being pinned down onto the ground.
  57.
  58. The cosmic wings no longer illuminated the surrounding area, and the blue aura of energy died out, exactly like a killed lightbulb.
  59. (Usiel Anauel)
  60.
  61. --------------------
  62.
  63. [23:03] "And here you will perish."
  64.
  65. Those had been the words of the Regent as they took Usiel through the air, soaring above the clouds. The fights and battles going on below would be watched, death unimaginable on both sides. However, Ikkaku's focus was on stopping more death the way they knew how; Through destruction.
  66.
  67. The blue glow does not fade as they arrive at the Black Turtle Fortress. Telekinetic force continues to bind Usiel, preventing them from fighting further. The Regent then lands, allowing for the dispelling of the Angelic wings that graced them into a single smaller wing. Sky blue eyes stared down Usiel.
  68.
  69. "You killed Edge. You killed Arie. You said they tired of it, but that is merely an excuse to kill more good people, and I imagine there will be more deaths if I do not do this.
  70.
  71. Speak your last words, Usiel, and then I will use the powers invested in me by Order and the Emperor to send you forth into your next life.
  72.
  73. Say your lingering thoughts, Regrets, and all else."
  74. (Ikkaku Ukitake)
  75.
  76. ------------------------
  77.
  78. [23:19] "..this is naught but an excuse to monologue. But- I will humor you. Enjoy my final thoughts, Ukitake."
  79.
  80. A long, wispy, drawn out breath would be exerted from him. He now lay in the captivity of the enemy once more- but this time, there was no going home. There was no seeing "mother."
  81.
  82. "I am but a soldier. I have one directive. It is to kill, or be killed. You must understand this now, don't you- of all people, Ukitake? Only the winner returns home and reaps the victory and rewards."
  83.
  84. "A gamble. It is a gamble. It is for the thrill of life. It is for those who long for something- those who.. hum. Have nothing to lose, per say. Those who have everything to gain."
  85.
  86. His gaze would narrow down upon Ikkaku's staring deepy through the mask. The eyes of a empty person, ones that anyone could see from miles away. He was a depraved individual.
  87.
  88. "When my home was razed, Ukitake, I had nowhere to go except surround myself with the indolent Jianghurans that stood by and watched. When I was as sick as a dog- searching, praying to find a doctor to cure me my illness as a child, I found myself astray, wandered off to Aetherius."
  89.
  90. Teeth would grit behind closed lips, the hatred still reside deep within. If there was one thing he knew, it was that you could not trust a Jianghuran.
  91.
  92. "Can you believe it?"
  93.
  94. "Am I in the wrong for flocking to the person who aided me? Provided me shelter? Helped heal me? Tell me, Ikkaku. Is that so wrong?"
  95.
  96. "A war-torn orphan from Avalon? No- no, how dare he hold his own opinions and thoughts. How dare he murder in the name of another. Where were the people to guide me?"
  97.
  98. A long pause.
  99.
  100. "Effigy filled the role, yes, along with Miss Tragedy. Forgive me, for was it so wrong to be guided by them?"
  101.
  102. His blue eyes would grow dim once again, closing.
  103.
  104. "I killed them out of my own mercy, for I did not want them to continue to endure the suffering of this failing colony. Arie Hon said it- he couldn't stand fighting for those he sought ungrateful."
  105.
  106. "Now- Ikkaku, if you will, I'd like to hear parts of your story. A step towards.. understanding eachother, yes?"
  107. (Usiel Anauel)
  108.
  109. ------------------------
  110.
  111. [23:30] "An excuse to monologue and talk before what is to come? Correct. Death is never something that I am able to accept with ease, despite my own desire to destroy." An inhale was had beyond that mask of wood, sky blue eyes closing for the briefest of moments.. Before opening once more. Vials of blood would open upon Ikkaku's belt, a mix of purples and reads soon letting themselves out to float in the air in the form of orbs.
  112.
  113. "Just as you, I am a soldier; I am one sent to destroy and rid the world of chaos and Demons, a Soldier of the Emperor sent to protect the goodwill of mankind. You ask me if I understand this directive; Of course I do.
  114.
  115. But I've never seen war as a gamble or a thrill. It is a horrid concocted thing. And that is why the ultimate goal of any war should always be peace; I am to bring that by tearing down the Archons who murder without abandon or regard. The only thing I can gain through war.. Is a mind that slowly clears and calms. An acceptance that in the end.. When the Archons fall.. It will not have been for naught."
  116.
  117. The sky blue eyes stare back into Usiel's own. Where the eyes of the swordman were empty and depraved, Ikkaku's were anything but. Although weary from the fighting there was a strength in him; A Hope for victory that would live as long as he did.
  118.
  119. "Are you wrong for flocking to Demonic creatures that aided you? Yes. To work for evil, reguardless of the circumstances, has a chance to taint you, to ruin you beyond repair. In taking innocent lives, you have come to that point.. Arie who wanted to keep the peace of Ardent Cliff and Tongyishan. Edge who wanted to protect the lives of the innocent.
  120.
  121. Your mercy is no mercy. It is merely bringing the Archon's will of suffering into actuality.
  122.
  123. But you want to know my story? I'll grant you that before death.
  124.
  125. When I was sixteen Zaruma and Anaxes attackedArdent Cliff. My parents, dead before then, sent me with a hope to protect the world. Instead.. I saw youth laid astray and pumbled and hurt and killed. Innocents were kidnapped and I could do nearly nothing.
  126.
  127. And the adults? They surrendered to Cruxati. They did nothing to protect the innocent, just.. Gave up. That is not an answer to anything that I can accept. And so.. I promised myself and my friends.. Kayn, Etirr'a, Dei, Sou, and more that we wouldn't back down and would always fight against menaces.. We would do what others could not.
  128.
  129. .. And so I fight. As the last one of us, I intend to keep that promise. To never back down from the demons. I will end them.
  130.
  131. Does that answer satisfy you?"
  132.
  133. The orbs of blood bubbled, likely preparing for whatever form of death Ikkaku intended to inflict.
  134. (Ikkaku Ukitake)
  135.
  136. ----------------------
  137.
  138. [23:46] "If you haven't seen it as a gamble or a thrill, then you've yet to lose everything. War is horrid. And it's what I live.. er. Lived for now, I suppose."
  139.
  140. A grim smile sprawled across his lips, teeth faintly visible. Ill will. Ill intent. It was written all over him. But- for a soldier who he could relate to, he held sympathies.
  141.
  142. "You should know, with the ongoing fighting between Chaos and Order, you are only prolonging the war. More and more casualties will certainly come of this. It is your fault. Your fault. Why you would not unify under one- this appalls me."
  143.
  144. The revelation of his story was no different than the others he had heard. These were all simply lost children, gone off with misguidance for far too long.
  145.
  146. "We all live the same lives. We are all the same people. We all have the same backstories, yet branch off into what each person deems as 'right'."
  147.
  148. "It appears we are all wrong, then."
  149.
  150. Another pause.
  151.
  152. "I am satisfied."
  153.
  154. "It is understandable to live on for your friends and carry out their will, Ukitake."
  155.
  156. "This is just my part of carrying out a will. A pawn. I have done what was asked of me. I can only hope and pray it was enough. My life debt should be.. repaid."
  157.
  158. His gaze would flutter down unto the orbs of blood, fully prepared to die. A final deep breath as he canted his head back, eyes closed. The Valmasian would recite these last words,
  159.
  160. "..through manifestations of the arcane, we empty our hearts; there is room here only for ambition. The weak are swept away and the strong break their chains. Today we sin to our hearts content, for tomorrow the sun will rise to forgive us."
  161.
  162. And with that, there was silence. It was time to go home, back to where he truly belonged. A moment of still peace, there were many to reunite with.
  163. (Usiel Anauel)
  164.
  165. ------------------------
  166.
  167. [23:57] There is a shake of Ikkaku's head. "That is where you would be wrong. I've lost everything. I lost Ardent. I lost my friends. I lost people I love. I've lost a home. And I've lost so much more. Life and war take and take from us. It's horrid, and it's painful. It is no thrill.
  168.
  169. It is merely something that must be done, and done justly. And that Is why I will continue to fight.
  170.
  171. You say it is my fault? Tell me; When Tragedy murdered Elizabeth before the war, was it my fault? Or the death of Ravan? Or of Paladin? Jadrako? No. Tragedy murders people. She hurts people. And unless she is stopped she will continue to do such without care and without abandon. And with Zaruma gone..
  172.
  173. It is her we have to worry about most. For if she were gone, this war would surely come to a close." A nod of the Regent's head as the blood spiraled around them.
  174.
  175. "I will admit; Experiences are similar. And I fear that I may have become you if I had lived differently.. In the same breath, maybe you would have become me. But that is just a Midsummer's hope. For, while you are about to pass into the next life.. I hope it is one of joy, of light, and without the darkness we carry in these ones.
  176.
  177. You call yourself a pawn. I hope in the future you find yourself to be a bigger piece.. In a life far better then this one.
  178.
  179. Usiel; Walk the path of light once you have returned from the stars. Order binds us."
  180.
  181. A simple nod is given from Ikkaku. And with that, the duty begins. The blood around Ikkaku boils as that within Usiel's body would freeze. Several small bullets of blood are formed from the orbs around Ikkaku, before a singular finger extends like a gun, pointed towards the swordsman's face.
  182.
  183. "May you find repentance for your sins."
  184.
  185. They fire. All of the projectiles aim for the head of Usiel, intent to puncture, rupture and destroy the brain in a few seconds. It would be a quick death, humane in Ikkaku's belief. Following this the blood in Usiel's body would become a rotting miasma, burning and devouring at flesh and skin. It would aim to dissolve and leave nothing left of the man except for what he wore on him and had with him.
  186.
  187. "It is done."
  188. (Ikkaku Ukitake)
