  3. PARANOIA is a darkly humorous game where players publicly attempt to cooperate to achieve an ‘official objective’ while privately accomplishing secret objectives as well. Total Mission Failure is indeed possible. The game is about exploring the limits of the setting and engaging in the social satire as much as it is about betrayals and schemes.
  4.
  5. Setting: Neurocity is a technocratic utopia where society is strictly regulated for the Greater Good, wealth inequality is limited to acceptable levels, and harmful technologies (like cell-phones and airplanes) are outlawed. It is ruled by a just and wise supercomputer named ISAC, who aims for the efficient functionality of Humanity.
  6.
  7. However, even in a utopia, dissenters still exist. ISAC has created White Cells to fight the dysfunctional traitors and protect Neurocity. You are a member of one of these White Cells, having been chosen by ISAC based on your functional skills.
  8.
  9. Be warned! The dysfunctional traitors are known for spreading their persuasive lies. They claim that ISAC is hiding a dark secret, that there is a “Origin Story” behind Neurocity, and that brave White Cells may eventually find out what’s really going on. All lies! The truth is this: Before Neurocity, Humanity was dysfunctional, building complex societies that implode horribly and messily. ISAC brought order from this sea of chaos...and ISAC will keep that order, *forever*.

  11. If you like the Tech-Noir genre, 1984, Fahrenheit 451, Brave New World, Brazil, and Catch-22, you’ll definitely like this game. This is a three-mission campaign, but players can drop in and out whenever necessary. Creating your own characters is fairly easy, though you will be provided a Secrets Sheet. This PARNAOIA campaign is based on the Neurocity RPG, “[a] tech-noir roleplaying game with an emphasis on psychology and existentialism” (kickstarter - https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/gavrielquiroga/neurocity/description, DriveThruRPG - https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/318907/NEUROCITY ).

  13. Additional Info (for those already familiar with PARANOIA): We will be using "Lasers and Treason" rules. Mutant registration is not allowed.
