Curse of the Moon

FINALLY, I'm getting around to this!! Most of this is going to be my own interpretation since I'm not the biggest Harry Potter buff, so it's not going to be perfect, but it'll be enough. Thank God for artist interpretation!

It is a moonlit night, but not a full moon. Remus is awoken to the presence of another werewolf and he goes to investigate. He finds a female student in the upper bowels of the astronomy tower, which is forbidden to students. Little does he know why she's really there.

REMUS: Soft-spoken and logical, but when provoked, he becomes protective and confident of himself. He'll do whatever he can to make sure people are safe and protected.

WOLF SPIRIT
Our poor female student went to Borgin and Burke's and was drawn to an amulet with the changing phases of the moon. She found it interesting and was rather taken by it, but unbeknownst to her, it is a cursed amulet. The owner's of Borgin and Burke's were even more interested to sell it to her because she's a Mudblood and they have a strong hatred for her kind.
The cursed amulet houses the spirit of a werewolf, put within the amulet by a powerful warlock to keep him from getting out into the real world and terrorizing humanity.
He is cunning, coy, and downright nasty. He plays with her emotions and uses them against her trying to get her to accept him to be his new host.

*add in sounds of wind or creaking wood. Remus is walking to the astronomy tower*

REMUS: Another werewolf? [Inhale and hold] The energy is so strong, there's no doubt that there's one here. [shakey exhale. He knows how scary being werewolves can be. He's not afraid, necessarily, just weary] No, no, this can't be possible.

*creaky footsteps*

WOLF SPIRIT: [soft murmuring]

REMUS: [whisper] Another voice? What?

[Pause]

REMUS: [soft gasp] A girl? The energy is coming from her...how?

REMUS: [cautiously] Miss? Miss, you know you're not allowed to be up here this late at night, don't you?

WOLF SPIRIT: [slow, maniacal laughter that grows into a full, bellied laughter. She turns around, her eyes are blazing blue and her skin has turned to an ashen brown, she does not look human]

REMUS: [stunned] What-what are you? How are you able to speak through the girl?

WOLF SPIRIT: Oh! Remus Lupin! It's an absolute honor to finally get to meet you! [laughter] You're much less intimidating in person though, I must say.

REMUS: [strong] What are you, creature! I will NOT ask again!

WOLF SPIRIT: [Proudly shout] I am Valgerd (VAL-GRR-D)! [snarl, almost biting] A damned warlock trapped me within this amulet to keep me from destroying humanity.

[Cooing] But it just so happens this lovely human creature stumbled upon me in the shops of Borgin and Burke's. She came into the shop the other day looking for a trinket. She was drawn to my amulet, as it shows the phases of the moon. The naive child thought nothing of it other than a beautiful necklace to wear, believing the moon phases harbored something magical. Little did she know how magical it was!

WOLF SPIRIT: [sniff] Oooh, the fear she holds is exquisite! [laughter] I can pierce right into her soul!

[Echoey laughter]

WOLF SPIRIT: [bellied laughter, he thinks this is HYSTERICAL] I can see everything! She's absolutely terrified! The way she's trembling so strongly! This is absolutely wonderful! She's scared of me, surely, but she keeps other fears as well. Fears of not being enough, worthlessness, failure...

WOLF SPIRIT: [mischeviously] Ah! This is a good one! Fear that people will find out she's a Mudblood! Too late, sweetheart. Mr. Borgin INSTANTLY KNEW. The man has quite a distaste for Mudbloods, you see...Oh, the things humans are afraid of is wholly hysterical!

REMUS: [softly, kindly] Dear girl. Being different is nothing to be ashamed of...

WOLF SPIRIT: That's rich, coming from you, Remus Lupin!

REMUS: [sharply, but weary] What are you talking about?

WOLF SPIRIT: You've spent your whole life ashamed of being a werewolf! You think it's a horrible disease that's caused you nothing but pain!

[The Wolf Spirit starts to talk to the girl/i.e. the listener]
WOLF SPIRIT: Listen here, girl. Allowing me to take over your body will make you stronger. Yess, it will make you unafraid and destroy all the fears you have buried deep within your soul.
[slyly] You can rip your enemies' throats out...won't that be fun? [slowly] Just let me in...

REMUS: *in the background* [protectively] No! Don't listen to it!

WOLF SPIRIT: [whisper] You were drawn to me for a reason, weren't you, girl? Don't deny it. Just...[lustful exhale] let me control your mind, body, and soul...

REMUS: [softly, painfully. He's desperate to reach her.] Dear, keep your eyes on me. There, that's it...

REMUS: I'm so sorry you're going through this. I'm so sorry this happened to you. What Mr. Borgin did, giving you a cursed object just because you are different, it was a nasty trick and is downright shameful.

REMUS: [strongly, passionately] Don't let this take your soul. [sharply] Look at me, take control. [pause] We're going to fight this together, this is nothing worth losing yourself over, believe me.

REMUS: [whisper] Take my hand, darling...just take my hand...

WOLF SPIRIT: He can't do anything! He won't be able to save you! He can't even save himself from the wolf within!

REMUS: SILENCE, SPIRIT!

[pause]

REMUS: I may not be strong against the werewolf inside me, but I know because of that I cannot allow anyone else to suffer as I have.

REMUS: [pleading] Please...please take my hand.

WOLF SPIRIT: [sharp whisper] YOU BELONG TO ME, GIRL.

REMUS: [louder] RELEASE HER!

WOLF SPIRIT: [HARSH] SHE IS MINE. I OWN HER. YOU CAN'T HAVE HER.

REMUS: TAKE MY HAND!

[long pause]

*Wolf howl that echoes*

REMUS: [Cooing] Oh, oh that's it...yes, come into my arms....that's it, I've got you. Hush now, Shh, shh, shh.

REMUS: [softly] I've got you...I've got you...shhh. You're safe now...

REMUS: Here, I'll take the amulet...I'll destroy it for you so no one else can be influenced by the curse of the moon.

REMUS: Let me dry your tears...there's nothing you need to apologize for. You couldn't have known.

[pause]

REMUS: [softly, tenderly] You're very weak...that took a lot out of you, didn't it? Yes, I know...I know. Just relax.

REMUS: Can you stand? Good. I'll take you back to your dormitory where you'll get some much-needed rest. Sleep as long as you'd like. I'll have a talk with the headmaster so Mr. Borgin can answer for what he's done.

REMUS: [soft chuckle] I'll keep my arm around you if that makes you feel safer. Yes? Okay...there we go...Now, back to your dormitory.

*play out with some soft music or wolf howling, whatever you'd like*
