  71. Backstory:
  72.
  73. "Well, I guess this is the end of the line. You know, don't pity me for this or anything, but I've never felt more kinship than I have the past few days. When I set out, I thought I'd just stowaway on this airship, hide myself and starve for a few days, go find the Jeuno Army and enlist. Huh? Yeah, I guess I hadn't mentioned that. Look, I know I'm young, but that's all I have left for me at this point.
  74.
  75. You guys are all great, never thought a Jeuno airship crew would be so accomodating of a stowaway, you know, with all that mercantilism going on, making sure you protect your bottom line. You deserve better than the enigmatic silence I've given you, so here we go. Gather close, it's a painful story so I'm telling it slowly, and I'm telling it just once.
  76.
  77. I'm a Bastoker, and everything you hear about the starving populace is true. It wasn't always that way for me. The Strauss family was pretty infamous around where I'm from. Notable businessmen, connections to high society, all the trappings of a nobility even without the blood and lineage.
  78.
  79. You look skeptical. I guess the raggy clothes don't really sell you on that notion, huh? Well, we had money, and it was stained through and through with blood. Not that I knew or would have even understood as a kid. Maybe my older brother did. Mikaya, his name was.
  80.
  81. Anyhow, you can probably guess, things went south in a big way. That's how it is for anyone who makes a living off the suffering of others. That's how it should be. Hm? Yes, I really do believe that, family or no. So Mikaya and I ended up orphaned, our parents killed in a scandalous assassination. It tore apart their corporation. Neither of us could manage it. But would you know? Their damned connections, with corrupt nobility, with other corrupt businessmen, all that, it kept anyone from finding out about their shady dealings, even long after death. I didn't learn myself until just a year back.
  82.
  83. Mikaya, poor Mikaya...it hit him real hard. The day after, he dragged me to the Mage's Guild, declared that we'd learn Time Magic, and then we'd go back in time and fix it all. I was six at the time, him, thirteen. I had no idea what was going on, I had barely finished drying my tears over the death of mama and papa and here I was being asked to learn to control forces beyond reality. Heavy shit for a child.
  84.
  85. We rose in the ranks, him driven by his ambition, me by, well, I had nothing else. The guild fed me, and I had a knack for the arcane arts. My brother became more and more desperate, and our relationship became strained.
  86.
  87. Last I heard of him, he'd made a pact with some Eidolon and wandered off in search of even more power. Hurt me real bad in the process. We'd just found out about our parents'...less than stellar past. It made big news in the day. I said some nasty things, things I shouldn't have. That I didn't want to make my life better if it meant letting all the poor who mom and pop crushed under their thumbs continue to suffer. It broke him. Family was everything to Mikaya, not just mom and pop but me as well, so I guess I betrayed him in a big way, after he'd spent years dragging me through learning Time Magic and keeping me off the streets.
  88.
  89. So here I am. He ran off and left me, cursed and spat on my name. And I made arrangements to leave for Jeuno, before the taint of the family name got to me. Nothing left to me now in Bastok, and what skills have I got for anything but the military?
  90.
  91. ...Hey, you, the one who brings me dinner. Sorry, I never caught your name, and that's terrible of me. Seemed like everyone glazed over by the end, but not you. You want to know a secret? I figured it out. I figured out how to rewind time the way Mikaya wanted, when he never could. I'll never use it though, not for that, not for something so selfish. What am I going to do then? Well, I guess I'll look for him. No, don't take pity on me, I'm stronger than that.
  92.
  93. Well, this is where I get off. Yeah, I know, we're pretty high up. I got this. Time magic is a nifty deal. So, see you, I'm glad I could've met you for as brief a time as I did! Maybe we'll meet again, maybe we won't. So the adventure of life goes on."
  94.
  95. Goals:
  96. 1. Learn more about Eidolons.
  97. 2. Discover friendship and true kinship.
  98. 3. Make a name for herself to free her from the taint on her family name.
  99. Life: Mikaya...where are you now? Don't do anything drastic.
  100.
  101. Spell Reference:
  102.
  103. Analyze (10 MP)
  104. Target: Single
  105. Type: Effect
  106. The user is capable of determining the exact properties and Tier (if applicable) of any magical item. This ranges from weapons and armor to accessories and unmarked potions; even things like magical paintings and nondescript crystal fragments. For this reason, many shifty bazaar owners loudly declare that this spell’s authenticity is suspect, and that the mundane goods they’re trying to peddle truly are lost, powerful artifacts.
  107. Legendary equipment cannot be ‘read’ with this spell, and extremely evil items can cause a magical backlash and cause the caster of Analyze physical harm.
  108.
  109. Eject (15 MP)
  110. Target: Single
  111. Type: Effect
  112. Reflectable
  113. With little more than a word and a gesture, the character reverses gravity around one enemy and sends him hurtling skyward. The target must make a difficulty 12 DEX check or be caught in the negative gravity zone and thrown a Medium Range into the air – and then smashed back into the ground when the caster reverses the spell as an Instant action. Thus, if successful, Eject can cause any targets vulnerable to falling damage (creatures without Float, Flight, or Defy Gravity) to lose 50% of their maximum HP upon collision with the ground.
  114. Large creatures are immune to the Eject spell.
  115.
  116. Enervate (10 MP)
  117. Target: Single
  118. Type: Effect
  119. The Time Mage creates a localized pocket of accelerated time around a small nonorganic object, causing it to age thousands of years in an instant. Some materials disintegrate in seconds. Steel, iron, and certain other metals can rust or become brittle due to ‘prolonged’ exposure to the humid air, and even the most resilient of materials have their Toughness to destroy reduced by 4. If used on a Construct enemy, Enervate deals (INT x 6) +2d6 points of nonelemental damage.
  120.
  121. Float (5 MP)
  122. Target: Single
  123. Type: Status
  124. Resist 12
  125. Though not a true spell of flight, the caster buoys a target into the air with anti-gravitational energy, protecting them from harmful falls and allowing them to hover a few inches above the ground. It nullifies damage caused by Earth-based spells and abilities, as well as damage caused by falling. The target of this spell receives the positive status effect Float until combat ends.
  126.
  127. Illusion (10 MP)
  128. Target: Local
  129. Type: Effect
  130. The character can create a realistic, moving visual image that others can see. The spell does not make real, solid objects, instead conjuring only magical figments and trickeries. They can move and make noises as long as the caster is within a Short Range of his illusion, and they vanish utterly if he ever goes more than a Medium Range away. Illusion cannot create false textures or temperatures, and viewers are under no compulsion to believe the authenticity of what they see; no more than usual, anyway. Illusion cannot be used to change someone’s appearance flawlessly, nor can the spell’s effects occupy more than several meters of space.
  131. Viewers can make an challenging Awareness check (difficulty 11) to see through the effects of Illusion.
