- I’m Bob Nimwich. I’m a high-ranking scrapper from the Universal Galactic Society. It all began one regular day on the UGS mothership. I was just reading a book and drinking coffee one morning when I saw something peculiar outside my window. “What the hell is that?” I asked myself. Upon closer inspection, it appeared to be a scout ship. I was surprised. It must be ship number 849. I was waiting for the last scout ship to return from the scrapping missions. I rushed out of my room into the general’s office. “What have you come here for, Nimwich?” He asked me. “There’s a scout ship around here. Go tell the docking crew.” I explained. Docking bay number 1 opened up and the scout ship landed. I was there with a few others who watched the ship’s doors open. The doors slowly rose up and another scrapper staggered out. I recognized him as Jonathan Halper, the captain of the crew that went on the spacecraft Icarus for a recent scrapping mission. He was covered in blood and seemed out of breath. “Please.” He told me. “I have seen things. Horrifying things! Blood-thirsty monsters. Murderous mutants. Athena is behind it all. ATHENA IS BEHIND IT ALL!” I thought it was impossible that Athena Megalabs, our partner corporation, would do such a thing. I looked around. Some were backing away in fear. Others were talking to each other about Halper. “This guy’s nuts.” “He’s gonna need his medication.” They said. Halper overheard their conversations. “I’m not crazy! You have to see it with your OWN EYES!” Two psychiatrists came over and grabbed ahold of Halper. “Hey Jack, let’s throw him in the asylum.” One of them told the other. As they dragged Halper out of the room, he screamed, “The teleporter! Enter the teleporter!” He was gone. Everyone thought he was off his rocker. We went back to our quarters after the whole commotion.
